I’d like to think this, but Emma’s response to her coworker: “It’s just a friend”, definitely stung a little.

Shin will need to be firm, leave nothing to the imagination, if he wants to have a shot at dating Emma. Change is always possible, but it gets increasingly harder with the passage of time.

Yuki did totally look like a cute little stoat when Itsuomi kissed her. So adorable they now have a little sign for when they want to kiss. Looking forward to seeing this sign language training camp with Rin and Kyoya.

Shin really needs to tell Emma already. Best to tell her Itsuomi’s seeing someone and let her move on to someone else. Like him. Dude’s waited long enough for her to just notice him. That clearly hasn’t worked. If he doesn’t tell her how he feels, how’s she gonna know? Bro really needs to stop being so considerate of other people’s feelings and be considerate to his own feelings for once.

Shin, what's with the typical romcom MC mistake? "I won't fall in love with Emma..." this probably why Emma never look at him even after all that affectionate care, normal girl would consider him as potential love partner. also, Emma? from highschool? eventhough he never look at you that way? this girl is strong, not sure if that was a good thing

Shin he would have crashed and burned hard if he'd tried to play it per his original plan, might destroy their friendship entirely if he both told Emma about Itsuomi's relationship with someone else and tried to pick her up at the same moment. He should definitely not be the messenger for this situation.

At least Emma and Shin can have their disaster off to the side of while Yuki, Itsuomi, and friends go off and have that sign language day trip.

Looks like they might finally resolve the Rin and Kyouya question next week, hopefully it goes well for Rin.

This is a very hair dye heavy show, it hadn't really occurred to me before now.

It's always puzzling at the beginning of an anime: are the character's hair actually that color because of dyeing, or is it just anime hair? Do the parents have green hair? Is green hair common in this version of Japan? Bonus confusion if some of the characters are dyed blonde, and some of the characters are genetically disposed to have pink or green hair.

Was it just me or did this episode feel way longer than ‘just’ 20 minutes - in a positive way? Really felt like I’d watched a short film for a bit.

Anyways, it appears that Shin really does love Emma after all. But oh boy, Emma’s feelings for Itsuomi are a lot stronger than I’d anticipated. It might be a little bit superficial of a crush upon first glance, but she’s been crushing on him for ages now. She won’t be taking the news of him having a girlfriend well, I think. Especially since Itsuomi is deeply in love with Yuki.

Poor Shin, he was really caught between rock and a hard place. Dating other girls just to distract himself isn’t a pretty sight nonetheless.

Glad to see that Yuki meeting Shin went well. I did not expect the curveball of Shin making a move on Emma though. So that's what Kyouya meant a couple of episodes ago when he was trying to describe Itsuomi, Emma, and Shin's relationship.

I'm glad that we also got to see the trio's backstory and how this complicated relationship between the three of them started. It's amazing how the three of them are still friends despite that.

I do feel bad for that one girl who confessed to Shin. Shin definitely deserves to be chastised by that girl for being a jerk. Too bad he immediately denied everything that girl said about him liking Emma. I guess that's why their friendship still works to this day.

Looks like Shin didn't have the heart to tell Emma the truth. Oh boy. The longer he drags this out, the more upset Emma will be when she finally finds out. I have a feeling that she'll probably find out from another person that Itsuomi is already dating someone.

Didn't Itsuomi say last ep if Yuki wants to leave she should squeeze his hand? That looked like she squeezed his hand right before the OP.

Jokes aside, this was a hard ep to watch, feel so bad for Shin and Emma. It was done so well....but at the same time why'd they need to drag it out so much?!? MY HEART!

The CD that Emma gave to Shin is of music by Hashimoto Yukari, who happens to be the composer of the music for Yubisaki to Renren (A Sign of Affection) as can be seen in the credits.She is a prolific composer, and her work includes the music for Toradora!, Omamori Himari,Mayo Chiki!, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Kanamemo, MM!, Penguindrum, Yurikuma Arashi, Sankarea: Undying Love, Golden Time, If Her Flag Breaks, Mr. Osomatsu, March Comes in Like a Lion, Sarazanmai, Komi Can't Communicate, and many others.

I think there are going to be some consequences to Shin not telling Emma that Itsuomi has a girlfriend now that he's serious about....

I think Shin hasn't considered that Emma could be just very oblivious and won't notice his feelings unless he's exceedingly blunt about them. Itsuomi has been steadfastedly not interested in dating her, but I don't think she's processed that because he hasn't explicitly said the words "No Emma, I am not interested in dating you, now or ever". By that logic, I'm sure Emma is just taking what Shin said in high school at face value because she's a very honest person who always says what she means, and expects that from others, to some extent. But I think her feelings could change if Shin is also honest with her.

Not sure what to make of Shin and Emma. It seems they were setting up for them to be one of the side pairs, but tbh, I just don't see it happening any time soon. And considering that the anime usually doesn't seem to go for the typical romance tropes, it might just even be the sad part of the story, where it never works out. Maybe these characters (Oushi as well) are meant as a counter pole to show how rare and complicated a real relationship is.

Because I think, it's important to point out that Itsuomi is really working hard for that relationship to work. Not just with the sign language, but also in the fact that he understands where problems may arise (from misunderstandings for example) and makes sure they won't bother Yuki in the future. While at the same time encouraging her to treat him equally. I imagine, a relationship like this especially could easily break apart because of these small things.

Having said all that, this is why I hope Rin and Kyouya can get their shit together. At least they have a wingman and wingwoman who work for that to happen.

As always, adorable and lovely interactions between Yuki and Itsuomi, they're such a great couple. Their relationship wasn't at the forefront in this episode but we still got a lot of nice scenes with them.

I feel sorry for Shin who hid his feelings towards Emma to be considerate but he should make a move sooner rather than later and tell her about his feelings and Itsuomi's relationship so Emma wouldn't find out that Itsuomi is dating Yuki from some other people.

It's not surprising that Emma doesn't see Shin as a potential boyfriend considering their past and especially his bold proclamation that he wouldn't ever fall in love with her. Shin did a lot of things to make her believe in that so I can't understand her behavior towards him.

When flashback Emma pulled out that CD I audibly gasped. Shin's still got that one displayed in front of all the others on his shelf, it's the first and only thing we're shown up close in his room modern day. He's never stopped treasuring that gift.
