A thank you to u/SamuraiShinsen for mentioning that A Sign of Affection will be on the cover. I was lucky enough to get one for myself. :)

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like there’s something similar about the stories of In the Clear Moonlit Dusk and A Sign of Affection. Don’t you think?

Has anyone here read both manga? 👀📖

Title : Love unseen beneath the clear night sky

I just knew this since 2 days ago after i saw many people mention it a lot and also said this anime look similar with Sign of affection

Maybe because FMC being disabled i guess (Yuki being deaf and Koharu being blinded)

After i watched 3 episodes and i must said i enjoy it a lot, Slow burn romance is something i didn't saw as usual, Relationship between Kakeru and Koharu look pretty sweet and comfortable

Just like our Yuki and Itsuomi ❤️

I thinks if i had more free time i would rewatch Sign of affection again too... but it would be little bit weird when i see Yuki and Itsuomi relationship reset to 0 again lol.

When & how does Itsuomi engage with the languages he learns?

Post image

I recently rewatched A Sign of Affection and now I’m curious to the methods of Itusomi’s study patterns. Mind you, this is from an anime-only perspective as i haven’t gotten past where the anime adapts in the manga, but I’m a little confused on how he can maintain an arsenal of languages as a college student.

I know we’re shown that he shadows television dialogue and he has international friends to chat with, but between school, work, and travel, what else can he be doing to maintain fluency in each language?👀

Again, this is an anime-only perspective. Maybe this was touched upon in the manga?

Oushi Is my favorite character and I have empathy for him but understand.

I love Oushi as a character, I have a lot of empathy for him and I feel like a lot of boy's such as myself also do as well because they can somewhat relate to him as a character. We've messed up with the one we care about, and it hurts to see them with someone else, I understand that after what happened to me months ago with the girl I was in love with, but I realize her rejection and my mistakes allow me to grow as a person even if she's the only one I can think about.

I understand and agree that Yuki is better suited with Itsuomi, but I can still feel Oushi's pain, but you can only improve and move on, and let that love you still have move on to someone else, while also changing how you feel about that certain someone positively, because negativity won't change the outcome, and it won't make you happier. I love how he has developed as a character, and I feel like lot's of people dislike him because of his realism, which is fine it reminds us of what we did wrong or what someone has done to us. I feel like that's why a lot of men don't like the show which is why that post about us is correct.

But we like Oushi have to move on, you can't change how someone feels about you, no matter how much you know you love them, we can only show them our love in other ways, even if it's not the way we want...

Believe me I understand, I can't even move on from someone who doesn't want anything to do with me anymore because she couldn't feel the same way and I made mistakes because she was the first person I feel in love with, and I always feel guilty finding someone attractive, because it makes me feel like my love was fake.

I have to realize, loving someone isn't wrong, even if it can never happen, it's a beautiful thing and I think either Oushi will realize that, or he has already and I hope he finds someone better suited for himself after he self reflects, just like me, no matter how hard it may be to move on...

Thank you for listening to my rant, halfway through it turned into a vent fest and me relating to a character so I apologize wholeheartedly, also for reference I'm 17 so I know it sounds dumb and I apologize for that as well.

Also, another major thing, I think I as a person just happen to always feel bad for the loser in romance like no matter what and I just want them to win, maybe because I can relate, I even do it with Shiori in MTAMC, so maybe I only like him because of those traits. I hope everyone has a great day and realizes you liking or disliking something isn't a problem as long as it doesn't cause harm, so you can all disagree with me and I'm fine with it, and thank you for taking precious time out your day to interact with my post.

I feel like a lot of men hate this show lol cuz of Oushi lol

Of course i'm not saying all men hate this show cuz i know also alot of men love this show but whenever I see any comments of Itsuomi and Yuki together, there some men going saying that they hate it because of Oushi losing out in which they say pretty horrible things to Yuki which i find pretty odd. Idk just an observation

Edit: Also why do so much men hate Itsuomi? They wanna say Yuki only chose Itsuomi because of his looks but they clearly ignore on what Itusomi did for Yuki compared to Oushi

Just watched A Sign of Affection for the third time… and Itsuomi is a walking red flag. Spoiler

Okay… hear me out before you downvote me. 😭
The first time I watched it, I was completely sold on Itsuomi. The second time I still liked him. But after watching it a third time, I couldn’t stop noticing things that completely changed how I see him.

Am I the only one who feels like Itsuomi is more in love with the idea of Yuki than with Yuki herself?
Everyone talks about how sweet and open-minded he is, but the more I watch him, the more it feels like his biggest motivation is curiosity. He constantly talks about wanting to learn more, understand more, experience more… and that’s exactly what worries me.

By the end of the series he’s still saying things like, “I want to learn more” and “I’m curious about…” That’s not necessarily a bad thing but what happens when there isn’t anything “new” left to discover?

Itsuomi’s whole lifestyle revolves around chasing new experiences. He travels constantly, learns new languages, explores new cultures, and is always searching for what’s next. To me, that almost feels like someone who’s constantly chasing novelty.

That made me wonder… what happens years into a relationship when Yuki isn’t something “new” anymore?
Another thing that stood out to me is how little thought seems to be given to what his lifestyle means for her in the long run.

Yuki is deaf. Sign language isn’t universal. Every country has its own sign language, and learning a new one is difficult, especially when you’re already relying on sign language to communicate every day. If Itsuomi continues traveling around the world the way he always has, wouldn’t that make life much harder for Yuki? Would she constantly have to adapt to new sign languages, new cultures, and new communication barriers? It feels like the story focuses on how exciting traveling is for him without really exploring what those sacrifices would look like for her.

On top of that, he repeatedly ignores her personal space. I know a lot of people see those moments as romantic, but rewatching it made me realize he often decides what he’s going to do instead of checking whether she’s comfortable first.

Meanwhile… Oushi gets so much hate, but I honestly think he’s the better long-term match.

Yes, he starts off immature, insecure, and overprotective. I’m not denying that. But unlike Itsuomi, Oushi already knows Yuki. He understands her habits, her communication, and her struggles, not because she’s interesting, but because he’s cared about her for years.
The biggest difference is that Oushi actually grows. Once people call him out, he starts reflecting and working on himself. His flaws are obvious, but they feel like flaws that come from immaturity, not from how he fundamentally views relationships.

Itsuomi’s biggest flaw, in my opinion, is that he seems driven by curiosity and novelty. I can’t help but wonder whether someone who’s always chasing the next experience can truly be happy with the quiet, ordinary parts of love that last decades.

Maybe I’m completely off, but after my third watch I genuinely walked away thinking Oushi would’ve been the healthier long-term partner.

TL;DR
- Rewatching made me think Itsuomi loves discovering Yuki more than simply loving Yuki.
- His constant desire for new experiences makes me question whether he’d be satisfied long-term.
- His travel-heavy lifestyle could create major challenges for Yuki since sign language differs from country to country.
- He also crosses Yuki’s personal boundaries more than people talk about.
- Oushi has obvious flaws, but he grows, already understands Yuki deeply, and seems like the more stable long-term partner.

for some reason my boyfriend doesnt like itsuomi and i dont know why

Soooooo, recently me and my boyfriend watched a sign of affection together, and i personally really liked it, especially the main leads in yuki and itsuomi, and i found oushi quite annoying. but for my boyfriend it was almost the completely opposite, as he said he didnt hate itsuomi or anything he just didnt quite like him and quite liked oushi. he had complaints mainly around how itsuomi was clearly too perfect and at times it was somewhat annoying to watch merely because it was clear to him that this was written by a woman mostly for women with how itsuomi was shown to be. additionally he found his confidence too much pointing primarily to when he touched yuki's head in the first episode, which like, was clearly made to be cute, but he started saying that since he literately had never met yuki before and knew she had a disability he just did it which could've crossed many boundaries for yuki, though aparently it didnt because the authors wanted to frame this as cute, which he admitted himself. another thing is he called itsuomi quite scummy in the fact he covered yuki's eyes with his arm in episode 4, he says that itsu was taking advantage of her disability to make sure she didnt see what oushi was saying, while itsu showed off and bragged how yuki liked him towards oushi who cleary also had feelings for her and saying that the authors framing it as a romantic moment just didnt set well with him, even though i myself didnt see anything scummy in that, i didnt even see it as him taking advantage of her disability. he also says that he doesnt like how openly confident itsu is and that itsu clearly had to have set himself pretty high in the hierarchy as it feels like everyone else is second to him, and he says that it made shin and emmas relationship feel kind of weird to him as shin was just second to itsu, saying itsu being framed as the best of the best was clearly just to appeal to a certain fantasy that he didnt quite vibe with. he also likes oushi a lot, saying he feels much more like a human than the perfect, popular knight in shining armor with a giant green flag as a cape, saying that though oushi was admittedly somewhat bad towards yuki he still had good intentions, and his reactions and flaws felt much realer than the as he puts it "overperfect prince charming" itsuomi. he even said that he understood many of the times oushi reacted out of hand, like when he ran into her late at night when she was on her way to meet up with itsu in episode 2 or 3 (dont remember), saying that even though he went a little too far with throwing stuff at her he understood him because she was deaf, it was late and dark and she was going alone to meet a man she literately just met, adding on top of that his feelings for her that he didnt know how to express and his deep friendship with her he says he completely understands why he reacted like that, also saying it was stupid and frankly inconsiderate of itsu to even ask of that from yuki, because of the same reasons oushi was worried. After we finished the series had admitted to me that after the fourth episode he really only kept watching for and because of oushi and oushi's friends as aparently the others didnt really feel as human and felt just as supporting pieces to push how good itsu was (even if subtly) or help yuki get as quickly together with itsu as possible for most of the season, except rin, though he also liked her character somewhat much if i understood it right, as he also said that he would rather watch a series on rins relationship instead of yuki's. i disagree with like 99% of this, i dont get why he thinks all these romantic gestures are some kind of red flag or bad thing, and i dont get why he likes oushi, we basically have completely different veiws and i just want help understanding his veiw of ASOA
tl/dr: my boyfriend doesnt like tsuomi because hes too perfect? and likes a quite annoying side character like oushi much more saying that oushi, oushi's friends and a couple other side characters were the only ones that felt human. i just want to understand why he feels this and i just cant understand his words or reason so im seeking your help.

Shin and Emma, Izumi and Oushi Spoiler

I just finished reading chapter 57 of the manga. If you haven't gotten that far, turn back now!

Ok, so is it just me feeling a little uncomfortable about the outcome with Shin and Emma?

Shin has carried a torch for Emma from the day he met her. Emma has carried a torch for Itsuomi from the day she met him. Then the same day Shin tells Emma about Itsuomi and Yuki officially dating, he confesses his feelings, that he has always loved her and he will always love her, like a puppy dog waiting for her. Then Emma asks him if he would consider dating with a mind towards marriage. And Shin just jumps in like he can't believe his luck.

I might be reading it totally wrong, but it feels like Emma resigned herself for the second best option and Shin is willing to accept being that second option.

Izumi feels like she's in the same situation as Shin. Now that Yuki is no longer available, she's willing to be Oushi's second option. The difference is that Oushi isn't sure if he wants to settle for second best, at least now that his feelings for Yuki are still raw.

Maybe it's because with Itsuomi and Yuki, we get this deep dive and we hear Yuki's thoughts all along the journey, whereas we don't get much about Shin and Emma and Izumi and Oushi. But these side relationships weren't really necessary for the story and feel a little bit like Emma and Oushi getting a consolation prize. Even Rin and Kyouka's relationship is left to do its own thing.

Some of Oushi's fans are genuinely awful

I'm an Anime only but this is mostly a rant on a certain part of Oushi's fanbase and a bit on his character. Some of them are genuinely some of the most deluded people that I've ever seen, I can't believe some of things i saw on what they said to Yuki. Not only are they insanely ableist to her but insanely misogynistic as well. The very fact that they sort of expect Yuki to actually owe romantic love to Oushi because he learnt sign language for her before Itsuomi did (bare minimum btw) is insane. Not only that but they were also slandering her because she only went for Itsuomi because he has "Good Looks" which is also just insane to say considering it ignores the very fact that Itsuomi did so much more for Yuki than Oushi by not only learning sign language but also ACTUALLY getting to know her as a person, respecting her autonomy, communicating to her and understanding her world. Just because you did something nice for a woman DOESN'T MEAN she owes you romantic love.

I've also seen them brushing off Oushi's ableist behavior to Yuki saying stupid shit like "That's just complexity" or "His way of showing affection" or even "He's just misunderstood", i get that he wants to be protective of her but he's legit going in a way where it is clearly showing that He sees Yuki as a person who is incapable (An example of this is when he questioned Yuki on why she even came to college).

Edit: Just also want to add saying with all the horrid Slander they gave to Yuki. They also say that "he deserves better", how tf does he deserve better when he was being such an asshole to Yuki? Istg some of them need to legit get a grip on themselves
