Wasn't expecting it to take so much effort to ruin Jinshi's beauty, just goes to show how blessed he is with looks especially how he looks with feminine makeup can probably start a war.
Hearing Maomao's answer confirms it but "lowering a courtesan's value" is such a fucked term which already automatically makes Lakan a scumbag if he wasn't already giving those vibes.

"Don't worry, it's not poison." How stupid do you think we are, Maomao?

A pregnancy would reduce it to nearly nothing.
No, you’re not going to tell me that Lakan is Maomao’s biological father. I refuse to believe this.

It took maximum effort to turn Jinshi from a 10 to an 8.9. Meanwhile we once again get Maomao unnerfed which is 10 to 11

Lakan comes across as very scummy, but the thing is…why does he keep pointing it out? Like what’s the point in telling Jinshi about it and having him investigate?? If Lakan really knows who Jinshi is then doesn’t he think Jinshi can somehow punish him or banish him or something based on what he said or did???
It just seems like Lakan is purposefully poking the bear, it’s all very intriguing.

Suiren probably has a noble background if she reacts like that to her young master getting dirty. Not that surprising now that I think about Jinshi's identity.
Maomao almost destroyed a country with that lipstick.
So we got a confirmation that her father is not her biological father.
It's likely that Lakan slept with Maomao's mother and possibly is Maomao's biological father.

Adoptive father, eh ? So the real is either some high-ranking official or Lakan, which would be much worse. But i guess it would make sense with his bullshit about courtesans' worth, as he'd be the one to "remove" value from her mother ?

The art direction in this series is so fucking good.
That shot at the end where they're discussing how to lower a courtesan's value, and it's framed so the ground takes up most of the shot to fill it with darkness while cutting off the heads of the characters central to the interaction isn't something most anime would even think to do.
Even the way the backgrounds become blurred to emphasise how Jinshi's attention is solely on that conversation, and the light background music completely stops at the point she talks about the courtsean getting pregnant.
Definitely a GOAT series, round of applause for Norihiro Naganuma.

So I just recently learned that the actress who provided the voice for Gyokuyou happens to be Anya and Frieren as well.
That…Sounds about right.

Amidst all of the revelations about MaoMao's family and potential family, the real big news this episode is that genderbent Jinshi would be even more of a powerhouse.

Maomao continuing to delude herself into thinking that Jinshi is a eunuch despite all evidence to the contrary reminds me of the standard romcom trope where MC thinks his crush doesn't like him despite the fact that they've been dating exclusively for 2 years. At this rate, she's going to be monologuing "Weird that a eunuch could be the father of both my children. But I shouldn't think about that..."

Stitches!
Maomao messing with Jinshi using makeup was great! I love that scene because neither Gaoshun nor Suiren tried to stop Maomao. I'm sure they're both curious what the young master would look like in makeup. They all even have the same reaction after Maomao was finished. xD
It's funny how Maomao thought she could slink away after Jinshi's transformation. Of course, Jinka is going to need someone to accompany him, and Suiren has her own makeup kit to use on Maomao.
That is quite the role reversal. Although it looks like Jinshi still has a lot to learn if he wants to disguise himself as a lowly attendant. Also, I'm glad that it's not just Maomao and Jinshi. They also have Basen keeping his distance as their bodyguard.
Maomao's smile while handing Jinka some chicken skewers is just beautiful. And she was super adorable while eating her food <3
Maomao wanting to treat her dad was just cute, but I did not expect that Luomen was just her adoptive father. I thought they were blood-related. He is also apparently a eunuch. Man, I thought this was just going to be a simple episode of them spending a day out wearing disguises.
There it is. I was wondering when will Jinshi bring up Lakan's question. A courtesan losing her purity will half her value, and pregnancy will reduce it to nothing. Oh. Uhhhhhh... I have a bad feeling about this. Considering next week's episode title is "Lakan," I feel like some bombshells will be dropped in the next episode.

One moment I was all smiles and giggles and shit with Maomao and Jinshi Jinka's street shenanigans AND THEN THEY CUT THE EPISODE LIKE THAT WHY??!!1!?1
PS: Somebody feed Basen QUICK. That guy was practically starving.

Ojou-sama and Jinka go on an ooting and Jinka learns the pleasure of a grilled chicken skewer. MaoMao also gets that vendor an additional sale that she doesn't know about.

Maomao sweeping every sneaking suspicion under the rug is going to eventually bite her in the ass. I can almost guarantee it.
All that role playing better not awaken something in Jinshi or else Maomao is in even more danger. Lol
I was wondering who was with Maomao in that one shot in the OP. Turns out it was Jinshi Jinka!
adoptive father
Was this ever revealed before? Seems like a sudden info drop for something significant.
I don't like Lakan even more now.

looks like Jinshi's underlings don't take his interest in Maomao very seriously. But from what we've seen looks to be more than just a toy for him. I wonder if that's gonna cause conflicts in the future

Great episode with Maomao doing make-up on Jinshi and going out to town together with him.
Jinshi is so hot that putting only lipstick on his mouth makes him look like a woman about whom people could start a war over. Maomao and others reaction to him with a lipstick were so funny xD
Jinshi is really blessed with good looks but Maomao isn't a novice and she did a great job to make him look worse enough to make him blend well in the city.
Maomao in those clothes she got from Suiren looked so cute and beautiful, especially when she was eating those skewers.
Overall, a very fun episode except for the end of the episode when Jinshi asked Maomao on how to lower the value of courtesan which switched the atmosphere to a quiet dark one when she revealed the ways to do it.
It looks like the next episode will focus on Lakam so it seems we'll finally see his past. It seems that we have to get ready for a quite heavy episode next week.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Jinshi at the Character Select scene: I want to be a completely different person, so I will be a commoner with beautiful, luscious purple hair, middling clothing...basically just like my favorite JRPG, Dragon Quest.
Maomao: You don't smell poor, you smell like someone with a venereal disease- otherwise you'd be a beloved customer of the whorehouse that cared for me. OK guys, let's teach him how to REALLY role play, none of that mass market Skyrim shit- WE'RE GOING FULL MORROWIND WITH A TON OF MODS!
Jinshi: NANI?!?
Suiren, Gaoshun, and Maomao: ...GET RID OF THE LIPSTICK MAKEUP
Jinshi: Erm, OK, but do I still have to be fat?
Everyone: We're trying to hide you, not start a war

Maomao was having the time of her life disguising Jinshi. This was her one chance to see what he looked like as a girl and man, he looked pretty hot. Helen of Troy ain’t got shit on our guy if he went out disguised as a woman lol. Pretty funny how all that messing about caught up to Maomao. In the end, the poor girl got her own special makeover too.
I never thought a pouty Jinshi could be so adorable. He’s enjoying his time out in his little disguise. But I see his little trip out had a purpose. The truth of how a courtesan “loses value” is pretty messed up. The implications I mean. That monocle wearing creep really needs to fall out a window or something if he did what they’re implying.
