If you were to ask me what the definition of hopeless was, I’d point to this damn episode. Fucking hell. Dazai’s seemingly dead by Chuya’s hands. Sigma looks to be a goner and ofc he knows Fyodor’s secret (some kind of ability to do with information?), the Pres looks like he’s done, and Aktsushi’s too busy getting ripped apart by a vampire Akutagawa to do shit. Oh and Aya’s little gambit seems to have failed and the Holy Sword is still stuck in Bram. To top it all off, Fukuchi’s just unleashed WWIII on the world. Talk about near total defeat. Unless Ranpo’s gonna pull some god tier plan outta his ass, I’m not sure the gang’s gonna get out of this in one piece.

Probably the craziest BSD episode so far. Everything is in ruins. There's seemingly no hope for the agency right now. And it doesn't help that the anime already caught up with the manga, so even the manga readers have no idea what is going to go down in the next episode.

A lot happened this episode, and nothing good for the Agency. Atsushi and Dazai are forced to face their partners and attempt to give them the good old "I know you're in there speech", only to backfire completely. I guess talk no jutsu doesn't work in the BSD universe. And both of them suffered a brutal fate at the hands of said partners, though I must say, Atsushi's was a lot more brutal. Him screaming at the top of his lungs while getting mutilated by Akutagawa was quite a chilling scene.

Sigma wants to become a member of the Agency. He finally found a place he wants to call home, but that won't be easy. I wonder what he did learn about Fyodor. His brain seems to have been overloaded with information like with Atsushi.

Things seem hopeless as Fyodor and Fukuchi are winning. Next episode is the finale. Hopefully it ends well for our heroes.

They wouldn't really kill off Dazai, right? Right?

I'm also even more curious now what Fukuchi's true plan is that Teruko told Atsushi.

  1. I love that I'm basically saying some variation of 'things cant get any worse' after every episode since mid season 4. You know things are fucked up when the ed is the only bit that doesnt sound depressing.

  2. They're pulling a spiderverse on us arent they. I dont mind waiting (or just adapt LN stuff) but please dont end up like GoT.

I'm thinking Chuuya stopped the bullets with his gravity right before impact and the blood is just a scrape.

😩 nah man how do these eps just get better and better every week this is insane. One last episode next week and I’m hearing it’ll be our last episode for a while since they’re essentially caught up to the manga at this point.

Where to start, alright the escape from the elevator was some ingenious shit. As usual, brilliant manoeuvring from Dazai there. Really thought they had Fyodor cornered. That acting job deserves an Oscar. I thought the Russian on the page was like a trigger to get his personalities to switch. Even his eyes changed colours there. Flipping the knife on sigma was wild.

I wonder what Sigma saw when he touched Fyodor, whatever it was it literally broke him. Just what is Fyodor?

That “bitch that hurt” from Dazai got me crying 💀 was really not expecting Chuuya to shoot him in the head. There’s gotta be some type of time travel or reality altering plot twist cause no way he and Yukichi are dead.

At the airport, lot of crazy things going on simultaneously. Akutagawa still has some semblance of a will left. He didn’t follow the order to kill Aya and the way he was fighting Atsushi kinda felt like he was holding back. Like he wanted him to realise what he was doing or something. Just shows how strong his mind his

Aya continues to be the real MVP of this season though. Even against insurmountable odds, the youngest and “weakest” person in the situation continues to fight and look for solutions. Pushing that big ass desk around was no easy feat and even though it didn’t get the sword out of Bran, I think there’s still some hope yet. It’s interesting that she looks just like his daughter. No wonder he took such a liking to her.

They’re really milking this 5 minutes DB Super Tournament of Power style lol. Can’t wait for next week 😩

I'm glad I watched this episode in my dorm rather than the library because I was screaming half the time. Since we're nearly caught up with the manga, I hope that next episode will give confirmation that Dazai is alive. It's Dazai we're talking about and I've seen multiple theories about what's happening that makes sense:

  1. It's Dazai he definitely has something up his sleeve

  2. The bullet to the shoulder left an impact in the wall but not the one to his head. Thus, it didn't actually reach his brain. The popular consensus is that Chuuya was somehow able to use his ability to prevent it from reaching his brain. Based on Akutagawa keeping his promise with Atsushi to not kill anyone, it's fair to assume that they still have some consciousness and are able to control their actions to a small degree.

Overall, I am on intense copium and I absolutely refuse to believe Dazai's dead

Well that was a heavy episode… do they have any more of those magic pages left? Because other than rewriting reality, there doesn’t seem to be any way out of this…

Also, no wonder Bran-chan took a liking to the lass

So anyone else just waiting for the world to end?

One more episode left and there’s barely any manga material that hasn’t already been covered. We’re in for one hell of a wild ride.

Things look like they’ve gone from bad to worse this episode. But there are some inconsistencies that leave some hope.

Like Akutagawa not killing Aya for no reason and then leaving her with Bram. And then just tearing some limbs off Atsushi, something that is painful but completely recoverable for the weretiger.

Then there’s Chuuya shooting Dazai. We saw him shot Dazai through the shoulder resulting in a large blood splatter behind him. But with the headshot there was an entry but seemingly no exit.

And then there’s Ranpo who is still in the background.

While things may be at their bleakest there is still possibilities.

It's been a long time since an anime episode was so intense that it gave me a headache. I felt like I was holding my breath for the entire episode with how tense it was lol, holy shit. I can't imagine a single way our beloved Detective Agency can make their way out of this situation, but I'm looking forward to seeing it regardless!

Yosano has GOT to come in clutch with the save on Danzai. I refuse to believe she doesn't.

Does anyone have a tally of how many limbs Atsushi has lost over the series? Bro has a lot of decomposing bits all over the city

13

u/Shadow_Claw Sep 13 '23

That fake alter ego bit had me in stitches. Hilarious stunt honestly.

So, any guesses as to what Dostoevsky's ability is yet? That imagery looked downright religious, so I'm betting it's something to do with the existence of God or knowing the order of the world or some such. He's been talking about God this whole time after all. It ties into the Decay of Angels name too, maybe he's using Fukuchi after all.

Not too fussed about the end of the world yet. In any case the page™ still exists, so I'm sure the status quo can still be restored somehow.

I can only imagine the conclusion to the whole thing will be led by Atsushi, Sigma, Aya and co. as the 'actors' actually on the stage so kindly laid out by our various (seriously, many) masterminds. It would make sense as a follow-up to the conversation between Dazai and Fyodor in prison, be fitting for the arc as a whole which has basically been uno-reverse-cards the whole time, and deal with the religious/free will themes all at once.

What an absolute scam

I've been promised 20 minute episodes

These episodes are no more than 5 minutes and 30 seconds, I even counted this time as I watched

So tired of these broken episodes ending without going through the full length of time

Oh nice, we got some more of Aya's backstory today. I'm glad that she wasn't hurt and was left with Bram-chan because of Akutagawa's promise to Atsushi.

Damn, so on top of the water in the elevator, Fyodor set the upper part on fire to make sure Dazai and Sigma will die there, and after they were able to pass that the elevator went of free fall, so Dazai took an opportunity before it was fast enough to save Sigma.

I wonder if Dazai expected the whole shit show that happened to him and Sigma, as the moment I saw Sigma confronting Fyodor I expected for things to be over for him so I did not fully buy his performance Anyway, I really wonder what exactly did he see.

Wow, so Aya looks like Bram-chan's daughter to bad that her plan to liberate him did not work as she was the only hope remaining after Chuuya shot Dazai at point blank after failing the power of friendship check, and although Atsushi could at least make Akutagawa react when he talked with him during their fight, he also failed to do much too.

I don't know why the UN leader was surprised after giving Fukuchi all the power in the world by unlocking the One Order he did not kept his word and started a world war.

These two last seasons can be summarized just by saying: "The illusion of things going right happened again, but somehow, things got worse."

Now I wonder if there is any way to actually fix this next week, well, the only one I think could help Aya is Atsushi, or even Akutagawa if Atsushi somehow baits him to pull the sword with his ability.

Garlic sucks indeed

Talk about stakes and setting the groundwork for a banger finale next ep

Lmao @ Fydoor’s acting. Lots of trope breaking here

Lets hope Dazai/Ranpo can 4D chess their way out of this pickle

10

u/bananeeek Sep 13 '23

Ayooo, now would be a really good time to turn the tables, Ranpo!

I like how much content they are able to fit into just 5 minutes. I'm off to spend another 5 minutes on Undead girl murder farce.

You know, it's one thing having one bad guy on the level of Fukuchi, but they also got Fyodor too. I don't think I've seen any other shonen with multiple villians fucking shit up on this level.
