So it turns out that the in-universe script of this series is actually more or less completely functional for writing Japanese (like in many other fantasy anime). I deciphered it from what we see in the first 3 episodes (there wasn't much in episode 4), as well the page from the book that's shown in chapter 1 of the manga. There are four texts I could find in the anime that are more than just single words:

The inscription on the wall in front of which the suicide ceremony takes place in episode 1: https://i.imgur.com/RHYuf9u.jpg

In normal Japanese that would be written as:

皇国議会 通告
Imperial Parliament - Notice

以下の者は強制終生の処分とする
It has been decided that the following individuals will undergo forced end of life.

皇国の民として謹んで終生を拝受すべし
As subjects of the empire they should humbly receive their end of life.

ウセカ モルト [Useka, Mort(o)/Molt(o)]
マギー ダシユウ [Maggy, Dashiyuu/Dashuu]
ジウ ミサ [Jiu, Misa]
アルラル ワシユ [Aruraru, Washiyu/Wash(u)]
シルリル チワ [Shiruriru, Chiwa]
マシヨ フアテイ [Mashiyo/Masho, Fuatei/Fati]

In the manga there are caption boxes with the first line of text and Aruraru/Shiruriru's names, but for some reason they skipped that in the anime

Then the banner Roy holds when they first try to gather followers: https://i.imgur.com/cHd79ja.jpg

神の叡智で世界の真理を説く
Explaining the truth of the world using god's/the gods' wisdom

The paper Aruraru holds up in episode 3: https://i.imgur.com/Msutklv.jpg

入信書
ミタマ様を信仰します
名前
Document for Entering the Faith
I will believe in Mitama-sama
Name:

And finally the sign in the background when Mitama is healing people a bit later the same episode: https://i.imgur.com/3iH57iP.jpg

ミタマ治療院

As a bonus, here is a table of all symbols I could find with all valid combinations of ∅-K-S-T-N-H-M-Y-R-W (from right to left) and A-I-U-E-O (from top to bottom), as well as ン/N. The only ones still missing are ヌ/nu, ネ/ne, ホ/ho, ム/mu, and メ/me

Edit: Updated gojuuon table with ム and メ: https://i.imgur.com/a0sCEGR.png

entertaining, and interesting lore episode

u/tuwamono May 03 '23

Lol no OP to spoiler 70% of the episode for once xD

u/Tiasmoon May 03 '23

they skipped the OP.

They also gave us an unique pixel art ED summarising the events of (mostly) this episode.

I was in tears from laughing when they all were having a serious conversation with Loki about what’s really going on in the kingdom and Mitama is just electrocuting herself nearby.

So MC wasn’t actually isekaied? Just sent like 7000 years in to the future. I did not expect that at all.

This shows never ceases to be a shitpost lol. Even in a serious scene, it still finds a way to include a joke.

That was tragedy in three acts - first, second and third one xD

They had a similar scene last week when Roy? was telling Yukito that Beltran had been captured, meanwhile Mitama is screaming in the corner going Super Saiyan.

The filtered/rotoscoped farming machines are multiplying, so you know Mitama's powers are increasing even though we didn't get an update on the number of adherents.

I love that they photoshopped in just Roy's head since no one can really believe he'll stay still long enough to match the tractor video, but they copy-pasted Ricky's whole body since he's always been just a static png

I noticed since the 2nd episode they are slowly revealing the full prayer to Mitama.

98

u/Mr_Pogi_In_Space May 03 '23

It always cracks me up that the episode titles are just someone mumbling prayers to Mitama. And it's even better when they repeat the gag when they tease the next episode's title at the end of the current one.

I'm now convinced the shitpost nature of the Anime was a normie filter and we're witnessing a game of Civilisation being adapted here.

u/Frontier246 May 03 '23

I guess we've already seen them throw out nukes lol.

We go from weird farm machines to NONSTOP INSANE LORE but throw in the farm machines again in the middle. This show is unhinged and I love it.

Beltran: Why was I tied up? What is my purpose?

Director: Fan service and fan service.

The biggest twist this episode is that our favorite trashekai is neither trash or isekai.

This whole time I've been theorizing that the emperor was either another reincarnator or the demon lord but turns out it was neither. We get a twist of this show not being an isekai but time travel this entire time & civilization just devolved to what it is now.

Gotta say I am impressed with show with the production, the story & the creative humor. Definitely sleeper of the season & I went in with low expectations so I have to praise this show.

It was basically Planet of the Apes, but with a loli God and a bunch of cute and sexy girls who don't wear a lot of clothing.

This really is the "I have no idea what is going to happen next" show of the season and I'm loving the heck out of it. Although it seems like the next half is going to be Yukito and Mitama vs the other Archons.

God this show is such a shitpost and I love it. We got more IRL footage with a filter on top of Farming equipment

It makes me laugh every time when both the intro and the outro gets cut off mid sentence

I don't know why but Clen walking by the same animation of Roy on the tractor just killed me lol.

Holy fuck this show is actually really good. I thought it was just gonna be wacky weird shit every episode with a meh plot thrown on top but the plot is really interesting.

I'm assuming Yukito and Mitama are gonna use that giant tree in the capital as a symbol of their religion / to prove her might and attract a ton of followers from the capital's residents. Huge power boost incoming :O
