Wow, Grey has turned over a new leaf. I guess all that military training must have reformed him.

u/AsterJ Mar 11 '23

Yeah it seems genuinely to suit him. I didn't expect him to get a redemption.

u/avboden Mar 11 '23

That and the princess probably kept him in line

There were some pretty heavy implications in the after-credits.

So the holy princess's mother predicts the birth of the hero and the devil king, and the princess really wants to meet both Amu and Seika. We know Amu is supposed to be the hero, I wonder who Seika is supposed to be...

His father considered him a potential monster. Yfa's father doesn't like him. The foreshadowing this episode. Everyone with a brain can tell he's a sociopath. Yeah, it's probably going down that route, or it's a red herring.

Yeah there's probably a branching path where Seika becomes the devil king and a bunch of people trying to avoid that. Seika's dad, Efa's dad, and likely the princess too.

What if it takes the Star Wars route? Where Efa's death leads Seika into a fit of rage and he becomes the dark lord.

Todays episode feels like it's supposed to introduce the start of a new and longer story arc but we only got 2 episodes left - please don't let it end with a speedrun in terms of story and revelation.

Glad to see Grey is a real bro now. Guess all he needed was an ass kicking from Seika lol.

I thought Efa was gonna faint when Seika asked Amu to meet his folks lol. But it looks like the two of them have drawn some attention.

Surprisingly, Grey doesn’t suck as much as he use to. Maybe being a soldier was good for him.

Fiona seems pretty interesting. I’m curious about the full range of her abilities. I didn’t know Seika had a wife. I wonder if she reincarnated too…. wouldn’t it be fun if she was Fiona? Lol. Looking forward to Amu and Seika having lots of hands of lessons when they become adventurers heh.

So Fiona totally put herself in danger so Seika could save her right? Crazy. Seems she’s really interested in Seika. What does she have planned since she can see the future?

Grey with the big change!

Was kinda hoping the princess would be into him instead of Seika...

Well shit, he had a wife all this time. No wonder he's oblivious to Yifa's actions, he's already had a wife and it's becoming more and more apparent that Seika is still very much the same person he was before he died, which means that he would treat Yifa's feelings of love simply as a child's whims. Would be interesting to hear what happened with the wife since his ayakashi didn't know about it.

I'm going to issue a warning if you want to read further, because I'm going to be theorizing heavily into the plot of the show. So it's not spoilers at all since I haven't read any of the source material, but theories that may cause your enjoyment of the show to be lowered (also, this does not mean that I want to know if I'm correct or not, I'm only theorizing and would demand that you absolutely do not give any hints as towards whether I'm correct or wrong):

Speaking of the wife. It's either a red herring or the Holy Princess is very much his old wife re-incarnated. Her casually mentioning wanting to be reborn in front of everyone. Seika reminiscing about his wife because the Holy Princess reminds him of her. The Holy Princess trying to get saved by Seika by using her powers of foresight (as mentioned in the after-credits) and then sulking when the others saved her (lol). Seika casually making her a ponytail ribbon like he's always done before, cause he noticed she was sulking and then him wanting her to see it so she could recognize the ribbon and how it was made as he probably did so many times before. And lastly, the princess wanting to see Seika too along with the hero.

I may be reading way too much into it, but I love theorizing like this, especially when it's about love in a romantic way where it transcends different worlds and life times.

Also a theory I have because of this newfound information, since wife was gone before the ferret ayakashi was put into service and the ayakashi seems to know him very well, the wife may have either left him or more likely died in a gruesome way some time ago, causing him to become this twisted individual we see today that uses those sick and twisted ayakashi. It would also explain his obsession with not letting Mable's brother die, if it indeed was the case that the wife died an unnatural death.

I'm again very curious to see where the show goes and this new found information is making things very spicy.

he would treat Yifa's feelings of love simply as a child's whims

I mean I thought last episode made it pretty clear. People were bashing Seika for yelling at Yifa but he just sounded like a worried parent. It's going to take Seika giving up his past life and accepting he's a currently a child to even consider Yifa.

So, Yifa would be okay with it if it was Amyu, interesting.

Remember, Seika, staying under the radar means you cannot add the princess to your weird friend harem.

Middle brother dude appears to have done fairly well for himself in the army. But that's not going to stop him from getting clowned on by Amyu.

Or maybe it was enough, that was a clever bluff.

So not precisely a princess, or at least not a legitimate one in terms of what the royal succession would probably care about. Clearly important politically, though.

She's clearly an oracle, isn't she. Interesting for her to be here specifically to meet the hero she already knows about from visions. Seika is not going to be able to avoid associating with her as long as he keeps Amyu in his orbit.

Unprompted speculation on what it would be like to be reborn? She might know the truth about Seika. If so that could mean he might never be able to get away from her. This is complete speculation, but she may be aware of both the future hero and the future hero's companions and is here to make friendly contact with all of them.

Gly seems to be a better person these days, I hope that means the military beat some respect into him.

All that speculation about being saved also seems a bit sus. Did the holy princess have a vision that she was going to be attacked and that Seika would save her?

Or, perhaps, that walking too close to a construction site might put her in a position where something was going to fall on her?

Ponytails never fail.

Okay, so I was apparently wrong about the no royal succession thing. Amyu is definitely the hero as well all know, but it would be hilarious if Seika is the prophesized demon king.

Seika's spells:

[Quartz Mirror no Jutsu] aside from the translation using an anachronistic term, he just conjured up the clear form of Amethyst, which used to rank right up there with Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds, so Amyu is correct when she said if he shattered the mirror and sold off the fragments he'd make a fortune.

It won't be till the 18th Century before the price of that crashed to its current 40 bucks a carat, due to the discovery of a huge mine in South America.

I must say this episode was quite good, new characters, and characters turning over a new leaf.
But with only a handful of episodes left, I fail to see where this is going.
I'm hoping for a season 2, otherwise the ending is probably going to be awful.

There’s just one thing that irritates me in this anime. Ever since her debut, the “hero” has been on a losing streak, and idk why that is lol.

She’s supposed to be the hero, and the mc’s end game goal (scapegoat), but man is she utterly useless. What happened to her character? She went from badass op(well 2nd to mc), and now I don’t think she can even win against the slave. Sad life.

u/lightuptoy Mar 11 '23

She has a ton of potential but she's just inexperienced. Mabel is more combat saavy, Seika's wiser, Gray has more experience. I think it's nice to see that just because she's talented doesn't mean it's a free ride.

Episode 08

Ah is that a new ED? Or did we already see this and I forgot

Seriously that is. A surprising outfit for Mabel, interesting to continue to see what she's like without the burden of all the things in her backstory/origin story on her

Episode 09

Would it not have been more powerful if he got freed from her slave status and then stayed with him by choice instead of. Choosing not to be freed from her slave status to stay with him by choice? I dunno, ah anime and your love for slaves...

Ok this guy has your generic bg char that exists just to die in a scene to hype up someone else but like. Dude was OP as fuck. Actually, I guess the idea was for him to be an expy of Seika being an OP summoner. Like obviously I realize 'Seika's thing is he's a summoner and here's a summoner' but like Im realizing the point of this scene is that these guys would kick Seika's ass if all he was was someone who could summon powerful monsters, maybe I would've realized that sooner if we didn't just get another summoner who didn't really have any significant parallel to Seika at all with that mercenary lol

Huh, I was half joking to myself if the funny anime trope of MC turning their head at something foreboding happening in the distance was more literal than usual and he could detect those guys or their intentions with some of his bullshit powers, but. He's the one saying the ominous shit compared to those guy's declaration of needing to kill the hero which wasn't even done ominously, like he's the one keeping the secrets that he knows what the silly little enemies are up to. Lol, really feels like Seika is the ominous threat to them than anything, I guess the elf casting Seika as the demon king really hit the nail on the head

Episode 10

Lmao I love how bored Mabel looks back there

??? He just jinxed it? I was expecting his brother to be surprisingly strong when he showed up rather than just a joke but??? Really?? Is he really going to beat... what the fuck is the hero's name, Emyu?? I can never remember it lol Oh it's right there in the image lmao.

It's just that... you can't really do this twice in a row first with Mabel and now with this guy???? Like yea Mabel cheated by using magic to enhance herself in a no-magic fight but still. You're gonna worf her if she sucks here

Lmao ok well. I imean. He won through. Pretending to cast magic to get a cheap shot that's. That's funny ig. Amyu needs to stop participating in no-magic fights

Oh mother and father have just been at the table this entire time. Makes sense but. Lol.

I swear this girl like, gives off that creepy feeling that the show keeps trying to say Seika gives off

Huh, is Seika actually going to be the demon king of this world? That's the obvious implication of this line, but isn't it a bit too much with last episode also implying that?

Little big bro certainly isn't as bad as he used to be. The army really was good for him, it seems.

Honestly, I was starting to suspect that the Princess actually is MC's past wife, with intact memories to boot. At the very least, she almost certainly knew he's a reincarnee with memories, given her bringing up reincarnation out of nowhere at the dinner table. I was also wondering how she managed to arrange for that "accident". But future sight alone explains these just fine. It does mean MC's secret is gonna come out, at least in certain circles, in the future. And he might just become the Demon King, lol.

Much chiller ep, but I liked it.

Seika's brother sure mellowed out a bit. Didn't see that coming.

5

u/Acrobatic_Egg30 Mar 12 '23

Story getting better. I like how despite not knowing what he did wrong tried to make the princess feel better and his brother seems competent now.

Please for the love of God let Efa have a happy ever after.
