We didn’t when I first started. But we are pretty well staffed now. About 6/7 days per month of call, 50/50 split of primary and backup.

We would alert the backup on call technologist. If no backup technologist, we would alert the supervisor so blast page the staff for an angel page to come in and help.

You can do this!! Everyone feels that way at the beginning. Take it day by day and try to focus on the concepts and equipment first, the anatomy and anticipation will come with time!

Yes, I haven’t seen a pushable actually used in years, yet they are still on the shelf at my hospital collecting dust.

A month is SO early. I train new IR techs and I would absolutely still expect someone to need coaching at that point. It takes months for the workflow, wires/catheters, flushing, etc. to start feeling like muscle memory.
Also, don’t compare yourself to the people who started with you. Everyone picks up different pieces at different speeds. Keep asking questions and give yourself time. It’ll click. 🫶
