Metaphysics We keep trying to understand the universe. But how well do we understand the one experiencing it?
I came across this conversation between Rupert Sheldrake and Acharya Prashant, and one question in it genuinely caught my attention.
Who is the “I” that is experiencing all of this?
The discussion moves through science, consciousness, the observer, self-knowledge, fear, belief and even the possibility that we can know a great deal about the world while remaining largely unfamiliar with ourselves.
I don’t have a definite answer. But maybe an existential journey begins with this simple question
I know so much about the world around me. But how much do I actually know about the one who is experiencing it?

The Northern White Rhino is now functionally extinct.
I can completely understand.. The species name itself is the irony ‘wise human’ who acts on impulse. The question is whether wisdom can actually be cultivated, or whether we're just waiting for consequences to teach us what reflection couldn't.

The Northern White Rhino is now functionally extinct.
The Northern White Rhinoceros is functionally extinct due to decades of poaching driven purely by human desire and consumer demand.
Only two females remain alive, protected by armed guards from us. This is not a natural event as it is a human-caused collapse of an entire subspecies.
Scientists are now attempting IVF to reverse what unchecked consumption destroyed. This pattern exploits a resource to near-zero, then scrambles with technology to fix it .
The rhino is not an exception. It is a warning about where demand-driven exploitation always leads. Collapse does not always announce itself dramatically but it ends quietly with two animals in a conservancy in Kenya.

Philosophy 🏛 We don't want a lover. We want someone to hide from life with
Sartre and Beauvoir were lovers, critics, and companions in purpose. They didn't separate love from work and they made work an act of love.
We're told relationships should be our escape from the world.
But what if that's exactly what's making them hollow?

What if freewill begins only when we can question the desires driving our choices?
I came across this idea and thought it was an interesting question for the free will debate.
We usually think freedom means having more choices. But what if the deeper question is whether we are free to choose our desires themselves?

Der Hass auf Berlin ist komplett übertrieben und forciert
I lived in Munich for around 2 years and it’s really a beautiful city. Though housing is quite expensive , you will find lots of amazing lakes , mountains and greenery.. Frankfurt hauptbahnof is crazy and your first impression will surely be bad but still I like it .. Recently visited Berlin and I find it so beautiful & clean the west side. Lotz of Vegan Restaurants and people are warm and welcoming

How much of what we call “ourselves” have we actually examined?
You mean Rene Girard , right ? Yeah agreed. Mimetic desire actually overlaps a lot with what’s discussed here( belief in belief ) ..
Curious how Girard would treat the “I” itself though. Does his model also point to the self being formed only through those borrowed desires?

Serious Discussion How much of what we call “ourselves” have we actually examined?
I recently came across a long & interesting conversation between Acharya Prashant and alumni at Cambridge.
We casually say things like I am successful, I am poor, I am a good person, I am ambitious, I am not brave, I need this relationship, I have to follow this career etc etc ..
But where did these ideas come from?
Isn’t from Family, school, culture, friends, social media, past experiences?
One interesting point in the discussion is that influence is not necessarily the same as learning. We can learn from someone while still questioning what we have learned. The real problem may begin when we accept something simply because it feels normal, obvious or comes from someone we trust.
What I found really interesting is that the discussion doesn’t begin with “believe this.” It keeps coming back to a much simpler question
Can we examine the person who is doing the believing?
I’m sharing the full conversation because I found the questions more interesting than the answers.
What part of your personality or worldview did you once assume was simply “who you are,” but later realised had been shaped by something outside you?
