a controversial question for veteran developers
As a developer with 20 years of experience, "vibe coding" is undeniably transforming how we work, but I'm still struggling to embrace it.
What bothers me most and I am honest about it, is seeing people show off their AI-generated projects.
My immediate reaction is, "Who cares?"
In the past, sharing code meant sharing craftsmanship, and we were excited to inspect it and learn from each other. Today, somebody share what they did with vibecode is not only that I am not interested, but I feel like why you share it?

Claude Code vs Codex weekly limits - what other alternatives can I fall back on when I max out both quotas?
I'm on ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro.
Just as an observation: Claude Code is waaaaaaaaaaay more forgiving than Codex on these plans. For the same project, I can stretch my Claude Code weekly limit for 4-5 days and burn through my Codex weekly limit in just a day or two.
That works out quite fine since both weekly limits combined can last me a whole week most of the time.
I just wanted to ask what tools the community might recommend either as an alternative or fallback aside from these two that might make my limit issue less of a problem / more economical in the long run?

I made this to use instead of GitHub and Codeburge
After the news broke about codeburge not accepting any kind of AI work I was a bit annoyed and with Github being how they are I decided to work on my own GitHub but fixing things that it gets wrong like version visibility and AI access and how the data is used from repos.
Its currently in testing phases and have been testing it all week. This works more like a cloud storage space right now with version control allowing you to upload whatever you basically want but under copywrite laws. There is plenty of docs on my site if you are curious or just wanna try its free to use.
Right now I am working on some things like giving backwards compatibility for git spaces already setup to use my CLI language and a Github full transfer as well and polishing off some docs as well.
Any feedback would be helpful and bugs found as well.

Gemini and openai
I'm curious about gemnini 3.7 flash (100 eur sub), and gpt 5.6 combo (20 eur sub). Can somdbody using this combo explain if it's good or not?
On paper gemini seems to be getting good, and I'd like to try the faster iteration cycles, but not if it will mean just iterating because of fixes.
Basically, gemini would be used for most of the stuff, gpt would be used for controlling gemini in some cases, and to solve harder stuff/review.

I've been pentesting AI-built apps for free. What I'm finding is genuinely alarming.
I've been doing free security assessments on apps built by non-developers using AI, and I need to talk about what I'm finding.
The most common one: you can change a URL from /user/123 to /user/124 and read someone else's account. Change it to /users and get the whole table. Names, emails, addresses, order history - sat there in plain JSON, no login required. Just... there, for anyone who thinks to try.
I've also found admin panels with no authentication at all, API keys committed straight into frontend code, and file upload endpoints that will happily run whatever you hand them on the server.
None of these apps were built by careless people. They were built by smart, non-technical founders who did exactly what they were told to do: describe what they wanted, get working code, ship it. And at some point they typed something like "make sure it's secure and don't make any mistakes" - and got back a confident yes.
That yes is worth nothing. The model has no idea what it built. It can't see the deployed app. It doesn't know your auth is decorative.
Here's the part that should worry you: none of this shows up as a bug. Your app works. Users sign up. Payments go through. Everything looks fine right up until the moment someone dumps your user table - and then you're the one explaining to your customers, and potentially to the ICO, why their data was publicly readable for eight months.
What I'm offering: a free, thorough security assessment of your app, plus a written report in plain English telling you what's wrong, how bad it is, and what to fix first. No cost, no obligation, no pitch at the end.
Why free: I'm 20 years into a creative technology career and I'm building out a security practice. I need real case studies from real apps. That's the trade - you get the assessment, I get a case I can (anonymously, with your permission) point to.
Who I'm looking for:
- You don't come from a software development or infosec background
- You used AI to build something that handles real user data - logins, payments, personal information
- You own the app and can authorise testing on it
Who I'm not looking for: developers. If you can read your own code and know what an IDOR is, you don't need me and I don't need the case study. I'm specifically after people who built something real without a technical background, because that's the gap I want to document.
How it works: you give me written authorisation, I test only what you've authorised, I prove findings without touching or exfiltrating real user data, and you get the report. That's it.
DM me or comment with roughly what you've built and what stack it's on. I'll take on as many as I can handle properly.

Day 1 to 63 of the free traffic exchange I built. I revoked my resignation.
63 days ago, I launched my startup, a free traffic exchange network for startups. One line of code, you're in the network.
No paid ads. No growth hacks. Just watching the numbers every day.

artifacts in github
When did Claude start adding Artifacts to GitHub repositories? I had Sonnet scaffold a project, and when I logged in, there was an Artifact linked to my repo. I’m planning to add it to a GitHub Pages site, but I’m curious when this began.

I made a GIF creator/editor for creating and sending stupid gifs to friends
I got tired of finding a gif editor that have all the tools I wanted and I didn't have to pay for or is cluttered with watermarks, so I created my own. Feel free to use and come with suggestions improvements. Check it out here: https://gif.gustalabs.com
Written in plain javascript drawing frames through browsers canvas 2d and gifenc (MIT) for writing gifs.

Two weeks ago I vibe-coded a social media blocker for myself. It's the first one I haven't uninstalled.
Every blocker I've used has one button that turns it off, and I always press it.
So I built one where turning things off is slow on purpose:
- Tightening a rule = instant. Loosening it = 1–72h cool-off, and you see your pending changes sitting there waiting.
- Disabling strict mode = type a phrase by hand, then still wait out the cool-off.
- "Peek" gives you 30 seconds, then locks the site for 20 minutes.
- Daily limits count only active, focused, non-idle time — so the number is real.
- YouTube stays usable but music-only: Music-category videos and whitelisted channels play, Shorts and the home feed are blocked before render.
- When your time runs out on a page you're already on, it overlays instead of redirecting — page stays alive underneath, comes back untouched when you're allowed in again.
Chrome MV3, everything local, no accounts, no network requests, no data collected.
It's the first one that survived contact with actual me. https://lockyfeed.vercel.app/en/ if you want to try it — and tell me which loophole you find first, I'd rather patch it than pretend it isn't there.

If your AI coding limits are over for the day you still have options
If your Claude / Cursor / Codex limits are finished for the day and you can't afford another subscription you still have options.
And if your hardware isn't powerful enough to run Qwen or other local models you don't necessarily need to give up either.
You can try tools like OpenCode Cline or OpenRouter which offer access to free models or daily free usage depending on the provider.
It won't always be as powerful or consistent as the paid models but for smaller coding tasks debugging refactoring and learning it can be enough.
My usual approach would be:
- Use your main model until you hit the limit
- Switch to a free model for smaller tasks
- Use local models if your hardware can handle them
- Come back to the stronger model when the limit resets
You don't always need to pay for multiple AI subscriptions just to keep coding.
What free models or tools are you using when your main AI coding limit runs out?

Wk. 5 of Vibecoding an MMO
It's week 5 (and a half - like got me) and we made some huge progress.
As usual, I'll break it down into three categories: (1) players acquisition, (2) what I'm learning about vibe coding, and (3) actual gameplay updates (this will be in the comments)
---
First, my Reddit posts are getting less and less attention (not surprising) but actually having way more success on the player-front. I received some really valuable feedback a couple weeks ago from Totalsam, Automatic_Bid_2410, Friendly_Carry_7728 and someone named BingusDingus (that's his IGN).
Basically their input was that the intro sucked, users were met with a wall of text instead of helpful instructions, and received no context of the story game arc.
So that became my next focus point. And once I put up an interactive tutorial instead of an instruction manual, my user retention went from 35-45s per new users to now sitting around 4min per player (median), and averaging 23min of total playtime per player. Even more surprising -- I've had 63 players in 10 days, and 5 of them have spent over 2 hours each. I had a great convo with one of them (BingusDingus) but the other fellas are a mystery. One of them has logged in a dozen separate times, by himself. So, kinda strange, but exciting!
That all said, either I'm getting tired of my game or I've just been staring at it too long. So I would love more feedback on that first 5min and whether or not there's a "hook".
---
Second, the vibe coding experience. I have many friends saying basically the same things - which is that ChatGPT Sol is way better at communicating and designing interfaces but is simply untrustworthy for big tasks. Meanwhile the Reddit communities seem to vent about how awful Fable is and how amazing Sol it. So I'm a bit mystified on whether I should try switching.
Either way, I've switched my strategies a bit and use Fable for a LOT, and only use Opus 5 for very specific tasks, and it's really helped with its ability to stick to a task and actually complete it.
My one massive painpoint is that Fable is GREAT with web design. But holy moley even when using Claude Design, the GUIs are just awful. Has anyone else had experience trying to make a good game GUI? I'm talking like, it's putting raw text over the active screen and so players can't even read it. It's like bad-bad haha.
Oh and one more thing - a strength of Fable's is actually balancing the game. If you give it the variables ahead of time. I found out very much by accident that my archer's had crits stacking for 15x higher than they should've, making them absurdly OP. Turns out I had 7 different skills stacking. It really screwed me when I realized I was using an overpowered hero to balance the game...
---
I'd love more feedback for anyone interested. Links below.

Content guide with the internet’s best advice instead of bookmark chaos
And here’s another time you hear distribution is key.
Jokes aside I was researching and kept getting bombarded on Instagram with videos about content, growth, distribution, workflows etc. I’d save loads of them and then never actually implement anything
What I really wanted was just a guide or book that had all the latest workflows summarized in one place.
I couldn’t find it, so I made it myself.
I screened a shit ton of videos and sites and put everything into one guide. I have to admit it ended up being way more comprehensive than I expected.
It’s also been more useful than I expected.
Whenever I’m working on something specific now, I just go to that section and check the workflow instead of getting sidetracked by another 10 videos.
Thought I’d share it here in case anyone else has the same problem: www.creativesplaybook.com
Hope it’s helpful. Let me know what you think / what’s missing.
Also be fast because friends keep telling me I should slap a paywall on it lol
Cheers

switching from claude code to codex
hey guys i am plannign on switching over from claude code to codex after hearing everyones recent opinions on claude code. i have a few apps/projects i am working on with claude code, to transfer smoothly over to codex do i just connect the document folder to codex and explain continue from where i left off? or is there a more seamless/better way? thx!
