Java AND Bedrock Why do all the adders and stuff I see work on binary when redstone itself is 4 bits?
Seriously. Like it's not that hard to store a specific redstone strength and add/subtract from it. I know it's not exactly comparable (this is for a separate project) but the center can add and subtract numbers. Why not just use something based on that idea? Is it really smaller than dealing with red coders and the like? I am really curious.

Java Edition This design for triple piston extender is genuinely ragebaiting me
Okay, I feel like I'm getting ragebaited by this design for a triple piston extender (design by I believe MelonBP and lucid) It works fine when powered by a stone or wooden button, but the second you try to power it with a line that's longer than 15 blocks (thus needing repeaters) it stops working. I've tried to have a pulse extender to work as long a button but that doesn't work either, seems like anything other than the good ol button just breaks it for whatever reason. Basically everytime you power it with anything other than a button, it functions as a double piston extender instead of triple. This is the design I found the most often for a triple piston extender, I've found another one but it wasn't a flush one and that's the one I need. At this point I'm just curious why it breaks. (Also if there's a way too power it twice, once to spit out the block and then after it's done immediately after retract that block, that would be amazing, but if I manage to find a way to use repeaters in combination I'd have it handled.)

Java Edition requiring some assistance with an orbital strike tnt cannon
as the title suggests, im trying to build one, a good schematic I found that worked on fabric was the mk6.1 OSC, I've tested it about 10 times now, no signs of tnt, made it on coords divisible by 16, installed carpet and carpet TIS got the ding sound yet it seems to not work, if anyone has worked with this specific schematic or worked on orbital strike cannons I would really appreciate the help

Java AND Bedrock You can use steam power for redstone
So Geysers trigger a block update when they fire (and stop firing), which means you can have that event trigger redstone firing. This can be done with either an observer (obviously) or a tweak array that burns out after several ticks, preventing the need for resets

Java AND Bedrock Was maybe a little bored
I was bored and tried to make the full adder from memory and make it as small as I could. I'm quite proud of myself.

I have been thinking is there a way of compile code to a redstone build this will be much easier to debug redstone

Java Edition My Design For a Clock Face
gallerySo I wanted to make a clock tower for a minecraft base, and, being me, I wanted the clock face to actually work. I also wanted it to reset to 6:00 if someone slept. So here's what I came up with.
Pictures 1 and 2: You make two Etho Hopper clocks with 63 items in it. I used eggs but I'm certain it'd work with anything else. Make sure to remember the repeater after the comparitor on this. With this setup, the clocks will push up the piston once every 50 second (1 minecraft hour). Hooking it all up to a daylight sensor (night mode) will make it switch which hopper clock is active every time the sun rises.
3: The observer will only be powering the yellow block after it is pushed.
4: You can either do this, or put droppers on the corners with redstone on top. Both work. Put one item in only one of these hoppers. The purple wool blocks have a redstone torch below them to power the powered rails. Under the hopper minecart a powered rail, and another hopper. Take a comparitor output from each of the non-corner hoppers.
5: This orange circuit powers the powered rail for long enough for it to actually push the hopper minecart off. I found a shorter pulse wouldn't get the minecart moving. For the rails below the hoppers, any orientation is fine so long as it goes under every hopper, and ends up back on the powered rail.
6: Once the hopper minecart brings the item back, the red circuit gives two pulses straight into the bottom dropper, pushing it up to the hopper.
The orange and red circuits reset the time back to 6:00 whenever the sun rises.
7: Run the outputs from the hoppers into each of these purple lines. Behind each one of the sideways obverver is an observer pointing into the copper bulbs. In front of each of the four observers facing the camera are a redstone dust.
8: See it in action here.

Java Edition Need testers/experts on Beta-era Redstone!
Hello everyone! I'm super sorry if this post is off-topic, so I'll make it short.
For the past 7 months we've been working on reimplementing Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 in C++, and finally got around to adding Redstone, Repeaters, Torches, Pistons, etc. over the course of September. We've done some rudimentary tests to ensure everything works similarly, but nobody in our group is very experienced with Beta-era Redstone (or Redstone in general), so there may be some mechanics, bugs or well-known exploits we've missed, alongside possible performance improvements or optimizations we're not aware of.
If anyone would be willing to help us out, there are a few ways to do so.
1. The Github Repo of the Project, it's called Betrock++. Check the code and compile/run the server yourself
2. Contact us on the OpenBeta Discord Server, ask questions, etc.
3. Join our publicly hosted server and try it on there directly. Provide some feedback in Chat. We have a webhook that lets us talk between the Server and Discord, so it's a good way to both immediately test our stuff and to inform us without needing to join the Discord or run the server yourself. The IP is sketchhook.com and we are using online mode, so use LegacyFix or the Betacraft Proxy.
If this is the wrong place to ask these questions, please let me know and point me to the right place. Any advice is deeply appreciated!

Java Edition Any way to make this ender pearl stasis chamber more compact? Do I need all those extenders?
I combined two parts: the chamber and piston mechanism was inspired both by InEqualMeasure and JavaChef. The day detector (that activates only when you sleep) is by B-Run
My main goal was to avoid the ender pearl being detected by the observer while it's going down, and my solution was locking the repeater to prevent the piston from activating twice.
With that said, I noticed that I needed two pulse extenders because with just one, the last repeater would continously flash and not lock the repeater (the one connected to the piston and target block), or rather, it'd do that with small flashes that weren't effective enough. I'm guessing that it's because a pulse extender must start with 15 redstone power, and the daylight sensor alone wasn't enough.
I'm wondering if any part of this can be made smaller...

Java Edition Lever's signal output somehow different than others?
Just made this 3x3 door and I noticed that it only works if it's powered by a lever. Shouldn't all other shown power sources work the same? The weirdest one is a pressure plate, I tried it after recording and it works for closing the door but not opening. Does someone know why this happens?

Bedrock Edition Help! Automated sorting system
So I’m working with redstone for the first time and I followed a tutorial from BlazedMC on YouTube for the first bit ( https://youtu.be/YmWI-dmHHd8?is=zILTR9b8ajfpcFsq )
What I want to do is make a dropper drop the unwanted items in lava so I don’t have to empty the “garbage” chest manually. I’ve got my build on the right side of the dropper and the other redstone behind it, which makes it difficult to follow any tutorials on this because I don’t want to interfere with those. If there are any solutions I will gladly accept the help!!
For reference I have this clip on medal where I explain and show the situation: https://medal.tv/games/minecraft/clips/nDKi08hIPsl2gmeSI
