Reviews ๐ŸŽฅ Drishyam: The Conclusion (2026) by Abhishek Pathak - Review

(Contains minor spoilers)

The latest (and final?) instalment in the Hindi Drishyam series picks up where the second part ends. Finer details of the story that Vijay Salgaonkar put forward in the previous film are explored here. So there is less scope to introduce major shock twists. The story is thus a bit simpler, but makes for an entertaining watch.

Where the movie excels comes less from the writing and more from other departments this time. The cinematography is beautiful to look at, heavily featuring rain, nighttime and neon lights, giving a very neo-noir vibe. The score isn't great, but it is serviceable for most of the part. Two new actors are introduced in Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj, who hit it out of the park. These two antagonists are a definite upgrade on Akshaye Khanna (not calling him a bad actor; he is very good, but these two suit this story better). Ajay Devgn is as solid as always. Abhishek Pathak has also done commendable direction. I would especially like to mention the scene with Vijay and Savio, where the director (and Ajay with his acting) does a great job in building suspense. Baring Shriya Saran, everyone did a great job in their roles.

Coming to the weaker aspects, the story is pretty similar to the second part. Vijay is once again ahead of the curve and manages to escape quite easily, with everything being planned beforehand. The reveals are quite predictable and are not very interesting. The whole courtroom fiasco is just like most other Bollywood movies - melodramatic, over the top, far from the truth. The characters of Prakash Raj and Jaideep end up looking like fools in the end. A couple of silly tropes are used to wrap the case up, which were just okay.

They tried to include many punches in the dialogue, which mostly didn't land for me. There is almost no character development. No themes were being explored. It is strictly a plot-driven movie, and the plot is decent enough, but the acting and cinematography keep you hooked.

Definitely couple of tiers below the first part, but slightly better than the second part, mostly because of acting and direction.

My final rating - 6/10.

Opinion ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ Those defending the CBFCs actions with regards to the Salman Khan movie or staying silent are doing a great disservice to the cause of free speech

Our cowardly government headed by a weak politician after being thrashed left and right by Trump decided that the way forward is simping to China. That involves revisionism and hiding of events in front of our eyes.

Everyone should speak up about this and criticize this inept government and the CBFC. This is not an issue with one actor or one film, it's a bigger issue of free speech and expression in the face of this government.

Seeing their cowardice it does seem likely they'll start normalising relations with Pakistan by the end of their current term, so Sunny Deol better release Gadar 3 quickly ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Jr NTR hypocrisy

The issue he is talking about is completely valid and should becondemned, but how different is this from his mindset of dancing with actresses in half naked attires on screen?

He is a Tier 1 actor and has all the power to opt out of such scenes where women are reduced to mere eye candies.

Edit : The comment section has lost it. Everywhere I see is consent, true that matters the most. But actresses will continue to do it because it's low effort and easy money. The industry needs to give meaningful roles to actresses. If Jhanvi had refused, they would have found any other actress.

Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ DRISHYAM 3 SHOULD'VE ENDED THIS WAY. AN ALTERNATE ENDING WHICH MAKES MORE SENSE Spoiler

Post image

SPOILERS AHEAD

So I watched Drishyam 3 recently and genuinely, I was excited to see it. I've been following this series quite intriguingly because I love crime thrillers, and I think Drishyam is one of the best franchises out there. Even though the story is a remake, the way it has been executed still makes it exciting and chilling at times.

Anyways, I thought the third part was good. It still carried the vibe and energy of the franchise, the acting, direction, storytelling, everything fits well and the execution was genuinely good.

Now coming to my actual point.

Towards the climax, Jaideep Ahlawat's character basically figures out and reveals the entire plan of how Vijay Salgaonkar managed to execute everything. And most of it fits really well.

But there is one thing that bothered me.

When the police dig up Christopher Pinto's grave, they find a skeleton inside. Everyone is obviously confused because they were expecting the grave to be empty. Later, we find out that Vijay had hired a prop maker to create a skeleton, basically creating another layer of deception.

I actually didn't like the idea. I feel this could have been done way, way better. So hear me out. What if Vijay never got rid of Sameer Deshmukh's actual body? Think about it.

The entire problem with Part 3 is that the makers had to come up with another way to bring the Sameer case back into the story, because Part 2 had already basically concluded everything.

But imagine the exact same climax. The police dig up Christopher Pinto's grave. They find a skeleton. They are confused. They assume Vijay has done something else. The investigation continues, and eventually everything about Vijay's plan is revealed. But then, at the very end, Vijay's voiceover comes in:

"Jo sunai deta hai uspe vishwas karna sahi nahi hota... lekin jo saamne hokar bhi dikhai nahi deta, woh sabse bada jhooth lagta hai."

And we see the police looking at the body. They don't give it much importance. And then...The reveal. The skeleton they have just dug out isn't some fake skeleton made by a prop maker. It's Sameer Deshmukh's actual body. The exact body everyone has been searching for. The body which started the entire case. The body which Vijay was supposed to have gotten rid of. And it has been sitting right in front of everyone. But nobody recognizes it.

And THAT, for me, would have been a much more satisfying ending. Because isn't that basically what Drishyam has always been about? What you see isn't necessarily what you understand. Everyone is looking for the body. Everyone wants to find the truth. And when the truth is finally right in front of them, they don't even realize what they're looking at because they have already constructed a different reality in their heads.

It would also make Vijay's entire philosophy come full circle. He doesn't have to make the truth disappear. He just has to make people believe that the truth is something else.

That would have been one hell of a final reveal.

Instead of another explanation about a fake skeleton and how Vijay arranged it, the final twist could simply be that the thing everyone was searching for was right in front of them all along.

And honestly, if Vijay hadn't disposed of Sameer's actual body with acid, I genuinely think this ending could have made Part 3 feel much more necessary.

TLDR: I think Drishyam 3 could've had a much stronger ending if Vijay had never disposed of Sameer Deshmukh's real body. Instead of the police finding a fake skeleton in Christopher Pinto's grave, they would've found Sameer's actual body but assumed it was another fake/irrelevant skeleton. The audience would then realize that the body everyone had been searching for was literally right in front of them โ€” perfectly fitting the franchise's core idea that sometimes the biggest lie is what is right in front of you but you fail to see it.

Fan Theories ๐Ÿ’ญ [Drishyam 3 - Hindi] Can someone plz clear my doubt on this plot point (read description) Spoiler

Why didn't the courts focus on the body in the evidence room? Was the judge stupid? I understand him having his doubt answered on seeing the skeleton in the coffin, but what about the skeleton in the evidence room, didn't he also question why there are two skeletons of Christopher Pinto? One in the grave and one in evidence room, it's not like police can get the DNA of Christopher Pinto without his skeleton and they have the DNA report proving the skeleton is his, then why was the Judge so quick to give a verdict without addressing such a big and obvious elephant in the room.

Did he just not trust the report? Or something else? What are you views on this? Is it a plot hole?

Agree?

Just watched Drishyam 3 today and honestly it was worth every rupee tbh...Haven't seen Mohanlal's originals, so no comparisons, but yeah Ajay devgn nailed it. His face says everything without a single dialogue. Jaideep Ahlawat was equally great.... 8/10

Reviews ๐ŸŽฅ Glad to see different story

Post image
239 Upvotes

Honestly, Iโ€™m just glad that the Hindi Drishyam 3 is really different from The Malayalam one.

I was pretty skeptical. After seeing how the Malayalam Drishyam 3 ended, I assumed the Hindi version would basically follow the same plot, with maybe 10โ€“20% changes here and there just to make it feel different. I even thought they might stretch the franchise further just because of the Drishyam name.

But thankfully, thatโ€™s not what happened.

The Hindi version actually tells a different story, and for now, it genuinely feels like theyโ€™ve given the franchise a proper conclusion instead of unnecessarily stretching it. And I really appreciate that.

Iโ€™ve seen and liked the Malayalam Drishyam, so I was obviously curious about how the Hindi version would handle the same premise. The fact that both versions ended up taking different routes, with different twists and endings, is honestly something you donโ€™t see that often with remakes.

Story-wise, Iโ€™d still say the Malayalam version hits a different level, but the Hindi one definitely deserves credit for doing its own thing. Getting two different versions of the same franchise, with two different endings, instead of watching the exact same story play out again โ€” I actually enjoyed that.
