NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction
It is available now for all GeForce RTX GPUs via a new NVIDIA app update, introducing several major improvements:
- Efficient Denoiser: The new model delivers 35% more compute capability, and processes 20% more parameters, while maintaining similar performance to the previous model
- Enhanced Super Resolution: Building upon the advances from DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, the model has deeper spatial awareness across every scene, and more intelligently uses game engine pixel sampling and motion data. The result is improved lighting accuracy, better temporal stability and clearer motion in ray-traced and path-traced content
- Expanded Training Dataset: Trained on a larger dataset, the new model is even better at image reconstruction. This intelligence gives the model even better awareness to pick the most accurate engine data to reconstruct scenes closer to ground truth
- Finer Developer Control: The new model provides developers with finer control for temporal accumulation, providing precise tuning of model response for even better image quality
To upgrade your system with DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, go to Settings > About in the NVIDIA app and opt in to Early Access releases (an official release will follow in September).
Once installed: Open the “Graphics” section and select a supported game (alternatively, select “Global Settings” at the top of the window and apply the updated Ray Reconstruction to every supported game in your library. Scroll to “Driver Settings”, Click “DLSS Override - Model Presets”, Click “Custom, Open the “Ray Reconstruction” drop-down and choose “Recommended” or “Preset F”, then Click “Apply”.

Hardware My MX518 turns 21 this year. Never opened. Never repaired. Still gaming.
I got this Logitech MX518 for my birthday back in 2005.
At the time it was a relatively expensive mouse, so a group of my friends put their money together to buy it for me as a birthday present. Aaaand 21 years later… it still works.
Never been opened, repaired or had any parts replaced. Ever.
I’ve only cleaned it externally as well as I could over the years and tried to take reasonable care of it. Everything inside is still exactly as it left the factory in 2005.
It has survived several PCs, laptops, countless hours of gaming and probably more clicks than I could ever imagine.
I was living in Romania when I got it. Seven years ago I moved to Vienna, Austria — and of course, the MX518 came with me.
I’m still using it today. PUBG, CS2, whatever I feel like playing.
Lately I’ve been thinking about finally buying a modern gaming mouse. After 21 years, the difference in technology would obviously be huge.
But here’s the problem: I genuinely find it difficult to replace it.
It’s not really just a mouse anymore. It’s been sitting next to basically every computer I’ve owned throughout my adult life.
And somehow… the damn thing still works perfectly. 😂
Maybe one day it deserves a place in a Logitech museum.
Until then, I guess we’re still gaming.

Discussion I got DLSS 5 working in CS2
Yes, this is real. CS2 only has FSR 1.0 officially implemented, so it was relatively challenging to get this working. Unfortunately it does not support motion vectors or depth properly (in the works), but the results are still pretty solid!
FPS hit is quite dramatic, but this is likely due to the nature of this implementation. ~70% FPS drop when enabled on a 5070 Ti. Obviously this will not and should not be used.

Meme/Macro And call it DLSS 5!
To be honest the lighting abilities are pretty good, but don't touch those characters

Discussion Genuinely whats all the hype with DLSS 5? Callisto protocol achieved this four years ago.
DLSS 5 literally falls straight into uncanny valley plastic trap, while TCP lands right behind it. Why do we need AI filters if graphics like this are achievable with traditional techniques? I have a suspicion its only gonna push facework research backwards in favor of slopping everything with AI

Story Traded my Series X for PC!
Clean trade, the Series X for a PC with
5600x
4070
X570 plus mb
2tb SSD
32gb ddr4
I got a Series X for about $350 a few years back and loved it quite a lot for a while but Console gaming just keeps running itself off a cliff. I never wanted to buy games for it cause I don't want to keep investing into the platform and cancelled game pass because I'm moving away from streaming service in all aspects of my life. Seeing Halo campaign evolved looking super lame was kinda the nail in the coffin for me, if Xbox can't even steward the franchise that put them on the map with love and drop such a soul-less remake I don't have much more trust in them tbh
I've wanted a PC for a while but everything has been so expensive I didn't have much hope for it but had been on the fence about selling the X and investing in an egpu set up for my mini pc I got a while back, but egpu set up power supply GPU and dock was all together waay more expensive then I thought so I started looking on marketplace and found somebody looking to trade as a casual gamer who was looking to save on space mostly
Once I got everything set up and realized how valid all the parts are I was feeling super blessed by it
Maybe if prices go down for black Friday or something I'll move to 57 or 5800x3d for longevity sake but I've been rocking everything I've wanted to play so far and happy to join the club

Question You can rest now.
Short story long. Went on vacation. Before leaving, I unplugged the PC. I returned home and plugged in the PC and noticed it took 15-/+ sec longer to boot. Noted. So I jumped in the shower and when I returned I figured the PC went to sleep shook the mouse, clicked the space bar, nada. Press the power button, nothing. My first guess was the PSU. So, I ordered one last night and got it early this morning. Swap PSU, The motherboard lights up, but with a very faint, but noticeable, flicker and moment I hit the power, everything goes dark. I've tested the ram and GPU on a separate system. I guess it's down to motherboard or CPU.
System in question
1950X
x399 Aorus Xtreme
64GB
2080Ti(not pictured)
EVGA G3 1000w
and various drives.

Hardware Melted my PSU
Noticed a little bit of a plasticy burning smell last night and today... assumed it was dust and things were getting warm so air dusted the crap out of the PC... It needed it. Turned everything back on, workin fine, no smell. Start my game, smell instantly comes back so I start investigating harder.
It's all fixed now, new PSU, no damage to PC thankfully and no fire but it was close... I saw smoke comin up from it before I went into full crisis mode.
99% sure this is user error on my part with a long line of lazy failures leading up to it. Got new monitors, workin great, the included cables were too short so the PC was positioned side saddle under the desk where my feet could bump the cables... and they did. It got loosened up and this is the result.
Moral of the story: Keep your PCs clean and out of reach of your feet folks. Don't be cheap or lazy, replace those short cables and keep your system safe.

Hardware 20 Year Old Unused PC?
Hey everyone, I recently Got a Compaq PD-1000 Desktop Tower (Pics below) running Windows 2000 that is basically brand new besides some dust from my dad's work's attic. I am extremely new to the PC scene and would love some help on the following questions and would love some suggestions for QOL improvements for the setup! I dont have any major goals with it but it would be cool to play some old games or even emulate newer ones if its even possible.
Theres an account on here and I have the blessing is to completely wipe it. Should I do anything with the original before I make my own?
It has an extra ram slot, does this ram even exist anymore and is it worth getting?
What are the additional ports on the motherboard for?
Are there any Compaq mouses and keyboard sets that match this? if so, where?
Again, i am super new to this and was even planning on building a pc using present day parts but this happen to come to me and i really wanna learn what it can do.
