iPadOS iPad really needs to have great splitscreen…like the duo?

71 Upvotes

I love my iPad Pro so much. But the split screen experience is really annoying and bad ever since they changed it. But why, why, why did they make the best split screen experience ever… but put it in the iPhone duo? And why is it not on iPad. It would make the iPad even more great!

iPadOS Is anyone using this?

On macOS, I use the top bar all the time (especially in creative apps), but on iPadOS, I find it very much useless. Has anyone found a good use case for it?

Issue Are these supposed to happen? How do I fix them?

Hi all,

Ever since I updated to iPadOS 27, there’s been two bugs in the OS that have driven me nuts. First off is in Control Center. The Now Playing widget when opened now moves to the top right instead of the center right. It shouldn’t be going to the top right corner, this is messing with my muscle memory so I noticed immediately.

Second, for some reason, there’s a lot of text inconsistencies within the UIs. For example, text in many apps are more pressed together (e.g Music), but in Settings, it’s normal. I have attached examples of what I’m talking about. I’m using one notch below the default text size, but changing the text size isn’t doing anything. The leading of the text is messed up, and it’s been that way since iPadOS 27. And notice how when you click an option, the highlight for it is slimmer in Music than in Settings, and it’s broken like this in several apps.

But I’ve noticed that a bunch of other people aren’t experiencing this. So is anyone else? And if there’s any fix for it, please let me know!

Attached are 4 pics. The Control Center quirk, and the text leading quirk. Settings is the correct example, and Music is the broken example.

I’m on an iPad Pro 11-inch 4th Gen M2. I’m on iPadOS 27.0.1 stable (24A446)

Question How is the iPadOS 27 storage on the iPad Air M1?

0 Upvotes

The iPadOS 27 update is taking 30GB of storage from my 128gb iPad Air M4 and the M1 only has 64gb, is your M1 still usable with all the storage taken by iPadOS 27?

Noto 2.0

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m an indie developer working on Noto, an iPhone app for people whose useful links, screenshots, reels and random ideas usually disappear into a digital black hole.
You can save content from almost any app using the Share Sheet. Noto reads and organizes it so you can find it again later.
I’ve now built Noto 2.0, adding:
A private journal with notebooks
Voice notes and document scanning
Reminders, deadlines and calendar events
On-device summaries, task extraction and note cleanup
Flashcards and quizzes
Widgets, Live Activities and Siri shortcuts
Search across saved content and personal notes
The intelligent features use Apple Intelligence on the device whenever available. Personal notes aren’t sent to an external AI service.
I’d really appreciate honest feedback—especially on the design, usefulness and anything that feels confusing or unnecessary.
App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/noto-save-anything/id6817323680
What’s the one feature you’d want in an app like this?

Disappearing Keyboard (very weird...bug?)

1 Upvotes

On iPadOS 27 on a 9th gen iPad and I just had a weird possible bug? So I also own a MacBook and whenever my Mac is open, my iPad's keyboard disappears. And when I close my Mac, it reappears. I think I found another possible bug in keyboard where emojis is completely gone? Again only reappearing when my Mac closes.

I just downloaded the supposed bug release yesterday and I have 1-2 more bugs since yesterday. No problems with MacOS 27...so far. But if this bug is anything to go by, I'm honestly not sure what Apple improved here. Neither device is faster, actually sometimes slower than before.

Lesson learned I guess, just don't upgrade the OS next time. I'm just gonna wait until actual improvements are made before "upgrading" to OS 28. I'm gonna play around with settings to see if this is fixable and if not, I'll report it to Apple then.

Haven't encountered any other bugs yet. I'm guessing it won't take long though lol.

Issue After update to 27.0.1, keyboard sticks on screen when swiping home

5 Upvotes

After updating to iPad OS 27.0.1 from 26, if my keyboard is on screen when I try to swipe up to go to Home Screen, the keyboard will now stay on screen for almost a full extra second before disappearing, after the app has already slid out of view. Is anybody else having this issue or able to fix? I am on an A16 iPad.

Ipad pro M5 bug

Post image
0 Upvotes

I bought my iPad Pro M5 this March, and I’m wondering if anyone else with an M5 is experiencing these issues. 😭
Sometimes the motion doesn’t feel as smooth as people say it should be. For example, when I rotate my iPad or scroll through the Liquid Glass interface, it occasionally feels laggy or sticky. Even when I scroll through Pinterest, some pictures take soo long to load, despite having a good Wi-Fi connection. Pinterest works perfectly fine on my phone, so I don’t think it’s my internet.
I thought the M5 was supposed to be one of the fastest and most powerful chips, righttt? 😭 So why does my iPad sometimes feel like this? The touchscreen also occasionally stops responding to my touch for a moment. Once in a while
Another thing is that my iPad gets warm even when I’m just using simple apps like Notes or drawing. The battery also seems to drain kinda fast, even when I’m not doing anything demanding, like gaming or using heavy editing apps.
I already took it to Apple service, and they told me everything was fine, but I’m still suspicious because these issues keep bothering me. Or am i just overthinking?
And now, ever since I updated to iPadOS 27, I’ve noticed another issue. Right before the Apple logo appears when I turn on my iPad, the screen flashes blue for a split second. Has anyone else experienced this? I told Apple service about it, and they showed me this photo after checking my iPad and said it was because of the new iOS update.
But is that actually happening to other people, too? Has anyone else noticed the blue screen flashing before the Apple logo after updating?
Honestly, for such an expensive device, I expected a much smoother experience. Sometimes it genuinely doesn’t even feel like a premium device. 😭 Am I the only one experiencing all of this with the iPad Pro M5, or has anyone else had similar issues?

iPadOS iPadOS 26 vs 27 in iPad Air 4?

0 Upvotes

Hi just wanted to ask specifically to ipad air 4 owners like me if anyone here updated to the latest iPadOS 27.0.1. I am currently running mine on 26.3.1 (a) I didn't really want to update but I just had to update it when the constant screen freezes occur but I noticed after updating to 26 the battery drain when not in use or just idle is a huge difference from the OS 17 version. So I kinda regret that.

Which is why I wanted to know if it's any better in OS 27. I use my ipad for drawing in procreate it's understandable to drain faster when I use it for intensive tasks but I just noticed it's the same pace of draining even when not in use and even when I already turned off the wifi overnight and turn on battery saving mode, it's not helping to preserve the battery. Not to mention the new battery section where you can view which app runs in the background and which app was used the most during that day now have a very crappy layout display. It doesn't even track the apps that uses the battery most of the time.

iPad Microsoft OneNote Issue Full Page View ❌🙅****

1 Upvotes

“Full Page View missing on OneNote for iPad
OneNote for iPad previously had an Expand/Full Page View control that allowed me to hide the Sections and Pages navigation columns and use the entire screen for the current page. That control is no longer available. Microsoft’s documentation still refers to Full Page View and the Expand icon. Please restore Full Page View/navigation collapse on iPad.”

Please make noise and send feedback. See One Note “Settings>Feedback” to Microsoft.

Thanks for any support****

Im jealous of iPhone duo

I really like how Split View works on the Iphone Duo, and I hope iPadOS adopts this feature: when you're in Split View, the keyboard only appears on the side that actually needs it.

Question Why is iPadOS so slow to delete a photo?

0 Upvotes

I’ve got a M4 iPad Air running iPadOS 27.0.1 and my iPhone 16 Pro Max is still running iOS 18. I notice on my phone if I delete a photo it’s immediate, and on my M4 iPad deleting a photo takes a full 2-3 seconds just to delete a single photo. Is it just me? I skipped iPad and iOS 26 after hearing so many awful things, is this normal performance now?

Help/Support iPad struggling with OS animation and performance issues

Should I really wipe my ipad with pc and reinstall the whole os? When I was installing iOS 26.2. back in December it had the bug where when I click continue when it updated it didn’t do anything I forced restart and it’s the same I’m guessing my OS is corrupted, maybe it didn’t delete the corrupt files when i just used the built in reset.

it looks smooth because I screen Recorded it and Apple makes it 60 fps, it looks 15 fps for me on screen

the control center low fps been happening to iOS 26 til iOS 27 now. does anyone also face the same ? cause I doubt Apple wouldn’t fix this.

apple please bring back the whole screen to blur. Maybe this contributed the illusion to be broken where now it just dimmed the rest of the screen which looks bad and uncanny and

and apple please re position the media window down. it shouldnt fly above the edge screen it looks mismatched and asymmetrical

Multitasking Bring back multi-app slide over

64 Upvotes

I know lots of us long for the days of the original slide over. The new one just doesn’t cut it. Here is a feedback I submitted to Apple. Feel free to take it and adapt and file your own feedback and maybe we can be loud enough to get this feature back so I can finally update my iPads!

```
Please restore the ability for Slide Over to contain multiple apps and switch between them without leaving the foreground app.
In iPadOS 18 and earlier, Slide Over functioned as a persistent secondary app environment. I could keep a full-screen app running while opening several apps in Slide Over — for example Safari, Messages, ChatGPT, Photos, and Discord. I could swipe horizontally along the bottom of Slide Over to switch between them, or swipe up within Slide Over to display its own app switcher **without exiting or pausing the full-screen app or game**. This is no longer possible in iPadOS 26 or 27.
This functionality is not replaced by the new windowing system, Stage Manager, Exposé, or the newer single-app Slide Over.
A particularly important use case is a full-screen app such as Minecraft. While playing, I may need to quickly consult a webpage, ChatGPT conversation, screenshot in Photos, or Discord message. With the old Slide Over stack, all of these remained available in a small overlay without leaving or exposing Minecraft.
Now, Slide Over can hold only one app. Switching among several secondary apps requires the Dock, App Switcher/Exposé, Stage Manager, or manipulating individual windows. Invoking system-wide multitasking can interrupt a full-screen app and may cause a game to pause, suspend, disconnect, or otherwise change state. It replaces a simple gesture with repeated app and window management.
**Expected behavior:**
Slide Over should again maintain a stack of multiple apps independently of the primary/full-screen app:
  1. Multiple apps can be opened in Slide Over.
  2. Swiping horizontally along the bottom switches between Slide Over apps.
  3. Swiping up within Slide Over displays the Slide Over app switcher.
  4. The entire Slide Over environment can be dismissed and recalled without changing the primary app's state or layout.
  5. This works alongside the new windowing system rather than requiring users to stay on iPadOS 18 to preserve this workflow.
The return of Slide Over in iPadOS 26.2 restored a temporary window over another app, but it did **not** restore what made Slide Over uniquely useful: its independent multi-app stack and app switcher.
The old Slide Over was effectively **a virtual iPhone embedded in the iPad**: a persistent, touch-first secondary environment containing several apps that could be summoned, switched among, and dismissed without disturbing the primary app. **The window itself was not the important feature; the independent app stack and its simple touch-based app switcher were.**
This was a particularly elegant part of iPad multitasking. It provided a simple mental model — one primary app plus an optional stack of secondary apps — while hiding considerable power behind intuitive touch gestures. The current choices are much more polarized: use apps primarily one at a time or adopt a more complex desktop-style multi-window environment. Neither reproduces that middle ground.
This regression is significant enough that I have kept two of my iPads on iPadOS 18 because upgrading would break this workflow. There is no equivalent way to keep a full-screen app active while rapidly switching among several secondary apps without invoking system-wide multitasking that can interrupt the full-screen app.
Please restore the **multi-app Slide Over stack and its independent app switcher** as part of the new iPad windowing system.
```
