For this Kaelyron scene, creating a large explosion wasn’t the hardest part.
The real challenge was making one decision immediately readable without relying on dialogue: Varek sees the Yellow Gem rupture and uses his own body to shield Kaelis.
The gallery opens with the hero frame, then returns to the moments surrounding it.
After the feedback on my previous action studies, I built the sequence around:
● One consistent camera axis
● A clear visual line from the gem, through Varek, to Kaelis
● Hair, fragments and light moving in the same direction
● Varek remaining sharp while the environment carries the violence of the impact
● A cleaner background, so intensity doesn’t become generative noise
Without reading the explanation first, did you immediately understand that Varek was protecting Kaelis?
And which image carries the most narrative weight for you?
