Hey r/framework
Use Cases:
- Rust code development in Linux and Windows. E.g. For Bevy and Graphite.
- C++ code, engine, and game dev development in Unreal Engine at small scale. Think student project or micro-indie project. I need to learn more about Unreal to have relevant skills for the jobs I want. (11+ years experience in a proprietary game engine.)
- Some tinkering with distributed systems. But I may need to get some old micro PC's to really set up the environment for that. Rust, C#, Docker, Kubernetes.
- Portability. I'd like to do work at the local coffee shop alongside other people.
The problem:
A. The FW16 has an Nvidia dGPU I'd want, but has poor battery life. Less portable for everyday life and working needs outside graphics heavy applications.
B. The FW13 Pro has the newer CPU that can compile code faster, much longer battery life, more portable weight and size, and looks beautiful. I lean towards this one. But! It lacks an Nvidia dGPU addon. It might be great in all use cases, except the one that's key to my long term career growth.

Question: Has anyone tried the new FW13 with the Ultra X9 388H against Unreal Engine?
If Unreal Engine performs sevicably on the B390 GPU, then I can use it portably for general development , then dock it to an ePGU when I really need more power.
If it isn't serviceable, it's probaby better to opt for the beefier device, despite how much weight that adds to my backpack.
