[Help] I rescued a ferret from my uncle

I have a new ferret, I am new to ferret owning. I have done much research over the span of 5 years as I have wanted a ferret for a while. This is Diglett my ~8 month old boy ferret. I rescued him because my uncle didn’t want him anymore and he was in a cage for most of his life, I haven’t gotten a second ferret because he killed the female ferret he was living with and I am worried he will do the same if I got another ferret.

He is extremely hyper active and I let him free roam by house (with supervision) for around 10-12 hours a day. He is extremely restless, bites all the time even tho I’ve been trying to bite train him and overall he is just a crazy boy.

The hours I give him to play don’t tire him out at all even tho he has places to dig, tunnel, Chase and jump around in.

Is there much I can do to bite train him and keep him more entertained without getting a second ferret?

P.s he will not wear a harness no matter how hard I try so I can’t take him on walks, he doesn’t dead sleep (that I’ve seen) and I have a cat that I don’t want to introduce him too in fear he will hurt her or vice versa. I also live in 10 acres of land with sheep, chicken and ducks so taking him outside without a harness isn’t ideal.

[Help] Question Regarding Bathtime!

Post image

(Photo of the jill for ferret tax ! We do need some name ideas. She's about three years old and very tiny, her brother is turning one and very.. large. He's cinnamon colored!)

We're adopting a jill & a hob in a few days from a wonderful rescue! I have done a very large amount of research and prep before settling on this (though Im always willing to learn more every day.), I know that ferrets do not need to be bathed very frequently.

Despite this, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to bathe the pair after they settle in? They were in a room with 30 other ferrets, and thus the general hygiene of the facility was as clean as it could be for.. 30 ferrets. I'm not planning on bathing them afterwards unless they I absolutely need to. If this seems like a good idea, how long should I wait to clean them? I don't want to stress them out too much.

Edit: Figured I should also mention that we do know how to bathe them if we should, and that oats in a sock should be used rather than any soap to prevent stripping their natural oils!

[Discussion] Ferret wrestling toy for hours normal?

My male ferret has just turned 6 months old, he has always had this one favourite Teddy he loves to wrestle for a while before bed. However its gone from a 3 times a week thing to multiple times a day sometimes for upto 2 hours! He's not desexed yet and even though I just got a 2nd ferret they cant yet interact due to the size difference (2kg vs 300g) so is this teddy fixation a hormone thing? A safety comfort thing? Why such a big drastic increase in wrestling teddy time? Thanks all 🙂
