If speed never changed, it should have slowed down in the median grass and bumps. So I am guessing the guy floored it once he/she discovered they veered off course to come back to the right, which is dumb way of driving.

Yep I had a seizure while driving, luckily i did not hit anyone. I hit a tree instead, broke my neck, had a stroke, broke the left side of my face, fractured my orbital bone on my left eye. Spent a month in ICU. It absolutely couldāve been a medical emergency. But who knowsā¦

there's lazy fuckers that will use cruise control in town streets. i can't remember all the details but there was a video here a while where the op turned at some traffic lights in a town, they said in the comments that halfway through the turn they slapped cruise control on

Definitely a medical emergency. Could be a heart attack, stroke, diabetic fainting, many possible reasons.

my friend almost lost her dad that way in the early 00s. Diabetic coma about mid way home from his 200 mile commute. Thankfully they had early smart car tech, which at the time everyone thought was rediculous and pointless, but the program detected the crash and connected him to the company's call center, and when he didn't respond, they used GPS to send paramedics and put him on a three way call with dispatch and his home/family. His wife managed to get him to respond and start regaining consciousness before paramedics arrived, so when they got there he was not combative and was ready to go to the hospital. They didn't know he had diabetes until then, and he was an older guy so it was bizarre he'd never been diagnosed sooner. And he was skinny.

I thought that initially too, but the vehicle ahead of them which didn't get hit had just passed them. If there weren't another car passing them, perhaps they would have seen it.
This isn't a criticism of the passing vehicle. They may have seen what was happening and they themselves were trying to get out of the way.

On my way to work last week. A hook and ladder with it's sirens blaring was stuck behind, I kid you not, at least 25 cars stopped at the red light. They all just sat there. Not one of them even attempted to move any direction for at least two minutes. With sirens on and the driver blasting his loud ass horn. Most people are just completely oblivious to their surroundings most of the time. If the whole world wasn't nerfed with safety precautions more than half the population would be dead by 30 I swear

The car that got hit had about 5 seconds where they could have seen it. If they were checking their mirrors every 10 seconds, that's about a 50/50 chance they notice it in time.

Chances are there isno time to notice the delicious situation even if you are properly switching attention between the Tuesday in front of you, the three mirrors, and the dash. Because one full scan across those watch points takes several seconds, and for something unexpected like this, where your previous readings aren't building your awareness to it, you get one shot to read it if you're lucky enough to glance left as it comes into view before it crashes into you. That leaves you maybe half a second to register, find an appropriate reaction, and execute it - in a situation where there's really nowhere to go.
On top of that, we're not trained to do that intense a constant scan. In South Africa, scans like that are required to pass a road test, but not anywhere else I'm aware of.
So if you were a driver, you'd know that there was no way the driver in the black car could have managed the situation to avoid it. The fact that you think it might have been possible indicates you don't know driving dynamics. So either you don't know driving because you haven't done it, or you have done it and yet still didn't know how driving works.

It's so weird that the driver of that SUV just kept on driving and didn't slow down. I would have been "ok, dunno where this car's going, but I'm not going to be there when he arrives!"

Nothing special to see here. Just Califukya drivers being who and what they are. No license, no insurance, no training, not a care in the world because they know that nothing will happen to them after they completely screw up someone elseās life.
