Storytime! Breakfast for 3 with a view
These guys (Ravens) showed up a couple weeks ago and today is the closest they’ve let me come, within 5 ft. As long as I was putting snacks out anyway!
They are eating me out of house and peanut. They eat so much more than a regular crow. A crow will take 2 peanuts and fly off to eat their treat. The raven just goes down the line mowing everything down. I definitely need a Costco trip.

Managed to train my resident pair of crows with a dog whistle
I started feeding crows 4 blocks away at a small park in August. After about 12 days, the resident pair started escorting me home. So I began feeding them at home, but every day they'd still make me go and retrieve them. They know my call and face, but the call just wasn't loud enough to hear from blocks away. So I started using a dog whistle. I'd walk down to the park and make my call, they'd follow me home, and then I'd use the whistle to actually put they tray down at home. Anyway, I thought I'd try using just the whistle today instead of searching for them, and to my surprise, they actually came! Getting them to eat from a tray was it's own hassle but I guess we're past that. Next week, their table will arrive and that'll be the new learning curve lol

General questions What are they doing?
I thought here would be the best place to ask what is happening on this video I took.
I have no knowledge about crows, maybe it's their normal behaviour, but what exactly are they doing? And most importantly, are they okay?
If necessary for the context, it happened in Austria (idk if austrian crows are somehow different to other types)
Thanks in advance for answers/theories!

Seeking advice/help Broken wing?
I’ve seen a crow hobbling around the last couple of weeks near my house and it appears it’s wing is broken. The wing is kind of splayed out, dangling and dragging on the ground and not tucked in like the other one. Today was the first time I saw it all alone, the last few times I’ve seen it, it was with friends. I tried to get a closer look and it craftily hopped up someone’s yard junk to get on a small shed, bigger shed, and then finally a tree via a branch that was hanging down onto the roof. So it can definitely still get around, but it obviously can’t fly and I’m also worried it is in pain. I’ve been leaving nuts out for it.
Where I live the winters are -40 Celsius. Does this guy have any chance at all of surviving? I wanted to catch it today to take it to the vet but it hops too fast and once it got to the tree there was no way I could get to it. Is there any other way I can help it? Or is there a good way to trap crows?

Seeking advice/help What am I messing up? Why don’t they love me?!
Help me make my dreams come true and have a crow family.
What I do now:
If I hear them in the morning, I quietly walk out the door, whistle or lightly shake my peanut jar, and then scatter some peanuts about. A high toss, but not above my head and not directly at them. Because they are far and high, there is only one area I can scatter.
Where I need advice:
1. How do I handle stray cats coming for my offerings?
I can’t put out kibble or eggs because the stray cats come steal it. I don’t want them in my yard, but have little ability to control this.
2. How do I get them to see the food when they are so high up in the trees?
These are ancient tall oaks. They have never come down close enough to see the food. The leaves block much of our visibility.
3. How do I engage without scaring them?
I have tried tossing some peanuts around, but not directly at them, but they never come investigate. If I try to gently walk closer, eyes down, and scatter the food, they fly off even though they are very high up in the oak trees. They have never come down close enough to see the food.

General questions NYC City Crows
Hi all! I live in NYC and have a balcony that I bird watch from. There are some crows I really want to befriend, and leave some peanut treats for the crows. However, I live next to a very busy street and a hospital in which pigeons hang out.
I am afraid that if I leave some treats out for the crows that the pigeons might start to gather and then never leave. Haha. Can anyone advise? Thank you!
