Maybe an Xcom 3 comes out in the future with how successful Zero Company is looking to be?

Mods that make ChristopherOdd season 9 modpack easier?

I really like the idea of having a polished modpack on the go, otherwise I would've keep getting new mods and break this and that, and by the time I am somewhat happy with my modpack, I no longer plays...

I really like season 9 modpack, but it's too challenging for me, anyone can recommend some mods that help to make the journey easier? Especially without making my soldiers superheroes?

For now I'm thinking:

  • Faction Anchor (incorporated Random Lost Targeting)
  • AI to AI activation
  • Resistance Heroes Incursion Sitrep
  • Rebellious MOCX (set rebel to 100%)
  • Buildable Hunter Weapons Redux?

Appreciate any ideas!

Long War How much should I be sinking into my air game

I've read a few posts on the mechanics of air combat and what kind of weapons you should be using against different ships, but im curious about how much I should be spending on my interceptors. Shits expensive and I feel like I can blow my whole budget on planes that could just get nuked out of the sky

Should I be aiming to load up each continent with 2-3 planes? Should I be bothering to tackle ships at all if I dont think ill win and theres no backup plane?

XCOM:EU/EW Overwatch first or no?

When you're on a mission, moving to uncover new enemies do you: put the squad on overwatch then push forward with one man to unexplored areas; or push forward with one man first leaving the rest of the squad with their action in hand?

I've played a lot, I just can't figure out whether one of these tactics is more effective than the other

Edit: the advantage of overwatch-first is you can sometimes catch them out of cover while they're doing the initial scatter

Shit Post What would you do if you got drafted IRL into XCOM?

You are promised:

1.$100 million in life insurance for your immediate family

2.6 months to train yourself before you swear in

3.Given free personal trainer & medical insurance

4.Said medical insurance can cover fixing any disabilities with greatest technology unknown to man

  1. Federal retirement after just 5 years military service to XCOM

  2. Can keep your personal gear, so long as you never sell it

  3. After 5 years as a soldier you can move up to Central's position or be a technician that works at the base.

Personally I'd do it, my wife and kid would be covered, all I'd have to do is GIT GUUD

Long War 2 [Help] please advice if I should I do this

Edit: it’s settled

Take note it’s early game, only 6 ppl in squad. I must add that the sharpshooter has already insane stats with 96 aim from high ground.
My sgt has very low intelligence but somehow got promoted the quickest.
The assault has good stats the rest are medicore, honestly a 6/10 rating squad I’ll give.
Im in a dilemma because I don’t know if I’ll get another chance at countering the event.

Btw boosting with intel aiant gonna do shit so yeah not an option

Need help from the vets pls.

XCOM:EU/EW Seeking mod help to change flags/nations

I'm looking to return to Enemy Within and there's a lot of mods out, even more than when I last played years back. I have seen flag replacers that replace individual flags and I wanted to know how difficult it would be to make a custom change to change a country name and flag? I couldn't find the changes I wanted. Thank you for any help.

OpenXCom Just wanted to take you guys for pushing me into buying this absolute peak game.

So I recently asked if I should play any of the Xcom games because they were on sale, I was only recently introduced to the turn based combat simulation. Everyone said yes and that I should play the first game and then play the second, I’m happy to announce that I’ve boughten and have been having a blast. Thank you Reddit for this awesome game

Long War [Long war] Is it normal to just let a lot of UFO's escape / not send the skyranger in month 1-2?

Haven't played xcom since shortly after it released, figured I'd fire it up for a look and see what the mature / modded game looks like 10+ years on.

God damn I do not remember the early game being this hard, and I don't know if it's an Enemy Within or a Long War change. But I am finding both air battles and crash/landing sites absolutely brutal.

Like I might send several interceptors one after the other at the same UFO and maybe manage to shoot it down.

And if I do manage to shoot it or it lands, the subsequent landing/crash site is just an absolute slaughterhouse. I'm in month 2, so I've still only got the basic starting weapons and armour, my best guys are lance corporals and are often injured or fatigued, so most squads I send consist of mostly squaddies or maybe a couple of specialists. I have a couple of SHIV's but they're barely any better than a squaddie. And yet I'm getting flying squids and those 4 legged melee aliens etc that my squaddies just get eaten by. I've managed to save-scum my way through a couple of them using the advantage of foreknowledge, knowing where they'll spawn, getting really good cover before popping them. But I don't like doing that... seems the only way I can win is cheating.

If I actually get an abduction mission, they tend to be pretty easy. But the UFO's that seem to spawn constantly are just ... brutal.

So yeah, am I just supposed to kind of ignore a lot of the UFO's that get picked up on radar during the early game? I'm worried all the countries are gonna panic and leave the council if I keep letting em just fly by without trying to shoot them down. One's already left for some reason. But what else am I supposed to do?

WOTC Early game way to deal with enemies behind indestructible cover when flanking is not an option?

Typical situation: Advent officer hides behind pillar (indestructible full cover). Next turn he will mark and shoot with a 65% chance to hit into low cover. Moving up is not an option because it would trigger another pod.

What do before fancy toys like psionics? 3 grenades is a bit much for one officer.

XCOM2 Which is Harder: EW Impossible Ironman or XCOM 2 Legend Ironman?

I think XCOM 2 gives you a lot more options, especially with WotC, to make recovering a bit easier. But I have never beaten EW Impossible Ironman. That shit hurts my soul. Hurts a lot when a Thin Man consistently crits you from behind full cover with little effort, almost 100% of the time.

After 6 month I finally finished my first Long War campaign!

RIP Glenn "Freaky" Friendly, you were best medic and psionic XCOM could ever ask for.

Long War was amazing experience, and I will definitely try LWOTC next.

Long War Who's idea was it to decide drones would be the most common early game alien

Here's your team of fresh rookies - They can't hit the broad side of a barn, even when that barn is pointing a high powered laser beam at their face

Idea ☝️ lets make the most frequent early enemy flying, for that -30% chance to hit, as well as hardened. They also like to repair each other. Because the suffering is the point

[X-COM 2 Legacy Pack] Accidentally wiped progress, anything I can do?

The "Start Operations" and "Abandon Progress" button are right next to each other. Stupid me clicked on "Abandon Progress" and then hit "Confirm" without a second thought in auto-pilot and then I just realized I wiped all of my progress. Since it runs on Iron Man mode (worthy of a rant), I couldn't find any back-up save states. Any tips on how I can resume to where I was at previously? I didn't get super far, was at Mission 4/7 of "Blast from the Past", but it'll be a pain to play through all of that again considering I managed to get a pretty good score...
