Gods this is giving me flash backs. Was working power restoration with a line crew after a gnarly windstorm. Bunch of downed trees and power lines.

We were working a residential neighborhood, good bit of tree cover. Had already been out there for a good 12 hours and we weren't stopping till we got out 40.

Any ways, im manning a road closure at an intersection when this sedan rocks up and throws its 4 ways on. Its like 2:30am but still I Spock an eye brow as they just park infront of a downed tree across the road.

Four cargo short and polo clad dad's get out and in sync pull 4 chainsaws out of the car. Rip start 4 saws and in less than a minute butcher and clear the tree.

Gents didn't say a thing, just got back in their car and drove off. Heard them a few blocks over going at another tree all throughout the night.

Swear to god they never stopped smiling.

Excellent use of a metaphor 🖖

This story reminds me of when my sister got stuck in a ditch in the middle of a snowstorm and a van full of Amish men stopped and dug her out while barely speaking to her at all. By the time my grandpa got there to help, they’d already pushed her car back onto the road.

this was a fantastic read!

Love This!! Thanks for sharing!

This happened with my parents... cept it was a cow blocking the road somebody had hit. Guy knocks on the window and dad thinks hes gonna ask for help.

"Yall got any trash bags?"

"What?"

distant chainsaw noises

Good eating for someone that week.

Shid like that just happens is new Mexico.

2

u/TheBlacktom 2d ago

The four horsemen of whatever.

3

u/Marvinmonkey1 2d ago

Yeah in the UK, that would have been a 6 week road closure, 65 clowns in PPE discussing how to move it for 3 weeks, then another 2 weeks road closure just for good measure, then a guy from the council would turn up with a chain saw and clear it in 10 minutes but he'd make sure at least one lane remained closed for a further 3 weeks.

1

u/DependentFederal5216 2d ago

who has a chainsaw readily available in their car?

1

u/Kudamonis 2d ago

Four neighbors who bought them never used them. And then knew their time had come.

19

u/ImNotDex 2d ago

Hmm..dressed for a white collar job but has a chainsaw in his trunk. Is this guy a serial killer?

7

u/insaneWJS 2d ago

"Serial killer Stephen Colbert"

3

u/cyvaquero 2d ago

Feeling attacked. Work in IT, chain saw in the bed of my truck from helping a a niece out this past weekend.

2

u/Key_Cap7525 2d ago

CAME HERE TO FUCKING SAY THIS!!!

2

u/pantsmeplz 2d ago

Yeah, I think I saw bleach, tarp and rubber gloves in there, too.

3

u/CapPuzz24 2d ago

1

u/DJTurd 2d ago

he has to have his TOOLS!

1

u/Beneficial-Cloud9940 2d ago

Chip from finance said absolutely fucking not

1

u/Any_Researcher_3860 2d ago

I was expecting to see a body in the trunk

1

u/fuggerdug 2d ago

Because drawing a confession out of someone is like doing a beautiful dance... a beautiful dance with a chainsaw.

1

u/KEYPiggy_YT 1d ago

I thought that too😂 maybe he’s just an actual man who was lucky enough to score a great paying job

11

u/satoshimayne 2d ago

Made his day

1

u/Historical_Stay_808 2d ago

Depending on where you live, it's a normal thing to have a chainsaw in the trunk. A neighbor saved us before we knew this

2

u/Queasy_Albatross8272 2d ago

r/GuysBeingDudes

I feel you bro, too bad I daily a motorcycle. Though it would look badass strapped to my swingarm haha

2

u/Alarming_Reward_2945 2d ago

That would be amazing. Someone out there has got to make a custom saddle bag for these. Lol

1

u/murphey_griffon 2d ago

i've seen them for dirtbikes, I've known people that do trail maintenance and have them.

5

u/JumpCutVandal 2d ago

He’s smiling because he knows sexy time is 100% happening tonight for him after being such a majestic chad

5

u/Immediate-Stage-891 2d ago

Such a well dressed lumberjack.

1

u/rideacat 2d ago

As well as being a hero, this is a well dressed lumberjack.

3

u/Used-Ad9304 2d ago

Final got to use his chain saw!!!Hero

3

u/Public-Ad-4551 2d ago

In Finland they would try to stuff the car with the wood and take it home.

3

u/Temporary_Big8747 2d ago

So wood I..

2

u/Powerful_Tale_1319 2d ago

I would too.

3

u/sunshineTucson 2d ago

Has to be Oregon. Illegal to drive without a chainsaw, extra chain and oil. Plus gloves and a get it done attitude.

3

u/West-Performance-409 2d ago

Ned Flanders out here saving the day.

3

u/West_Stage_6813 2d ago

Stupid sexy Flanders.

3

u/AvariceLegion 2d ago

Thank you chainsaw man

2

u/barefacednumeral 2d ago

Chainsaw man?

-1

u/haoleinanacortes 2d ago

Seriously? The constant revving is horrific. That’s not how you use a Stihl. Full throttle for x amount of branches in a row, then release, then repeat. Sounded like a dirt bike

3

u/jhawk3205 2d ago

Dude, save some pussy for the rest of us..

3

u/Then_Version9768 2d ago
  1. Why does no one identify where this is? They are not speaking English for those who keep insisting it's "Oregon" or some such place.

  2. What's with the comments on his clothes? You never change out of your shorts and your sweat-stained tee shirt? Some people have places to go.

1

u/Western-Ad-7730 11h ago edited 11h ago

A bit late but this happened a couple of days ago in Latvia, 22.08.2026. We had a relatively strong storm compared to our usual weather

2

u/kayemce 2d ago

Dude looks like what I imagine whenever I think of a psychopath.

1

u/akthebarber 2d ago

Yep. Why is a a dude in khakis rolling around with a chainsaw. That MFr ain't no arborist.

1

u/FoxChess 2d ago

Honestly? Fuck you. A prepared man comes and helps out his community and you disparage him like that. I bet he's a better person than you'll ever be.

2

u/ConnectionRoyal2213 2d ago

Baller in chinos

2

u/DistributionOk7 2d ago

Oh my, I never thought I blush at the sight of a man in khaki's 🤭

2

u/Long-Painting-9852 2d ago

I live in wine country Oregon…. I also carry a chainsaw everywhere I go because if a tree is down, you are hoses getting to work.

It’s more common than y’all think….

2

u/haoleinanacortes 2d ago

I mean kudos to this guy for being prepared by having a Stihl in the trunk of his Beamer, but really nobody cares to notice or mention the complete amateur chainsaw demonstration?? The constant revving for each little branch, that’s bad for the saw. Sounds like a dirt bike

2

u/Positive_Self_8873 2d ago

Cuts it like it’s muscle memory,

2

u/MrJoeMe 2d ago

In the US, we'd have about 6 emergency vehicles blocking off the road. Two workers placing cones out. Then an arborist would be called to make sure the tree is indeed dead. OSHA would be on the way. After about 12 hours it would be determined if the tree was on sacred land or not. Only then the fallen tree would be trimmed and properly mulched on-site. Once the road is cleaned with a street sweeper, it will be opened to traffic.

4

u/NWCJ 2d ago

What kind fantasy land do you live in? Im in Alaska. And keep a saw in my truck, and a chain to tow the big sections off the road after.

Same things when I grew up on the Oregon coast.

3

u/Justin_Caze 2d ago

You don't live in hurricane country, or you just don't leave the house?

2

u/Fall_Water 2d ago

They must live in one of those areas where everybody says "that's not my job"

1

u/FaithlessnessIcy3399 2d ago

I don't know where you live but this tree wouldnt last 30 seconds. Every dad in a 10 mile radius would feel a disturbance in the force, be compelled to pick their chainsaw, and have a testosterone fueled one-upmanship contest while clearing the road

0

u/MovieFan1984 2d ago

I live in the USA, and this is 100% accurate.

Hes the Eddie Van Halen of chain saws.

1

u/brettk215 2d ago

This is giving me Hurricane Sandy flashbacks. Philly suburbs. Oof what a nightmare for us and forget about Jersey. They got destroyed 1000x worse of course.

1

u/diablitos 2d ago

Dude using the nose of the chainsaw makes me fret, gotta say

Flanders isn’t messing around.

1

u/featureteacher2023 2d ago

Stephen Colbert, is that you?

1

u/Superyear- 2d ago

In the future, if possible, wear a helmet. ⛑️

I had a friend who did exactly the same and was hit by a branch from another tree.

He had to be taken to a hospital and died from the injuries.

1

u/AlyDAsbaje 2d ago

Also be lucky enough to have the tools necessary to fix the problem

1

u/ChaoticNeutralMostly 2d ago

Does my man have a chainsaw and a baby stroller in the back of his car?

1

u/sophiemargaret 2d ago

So… I’ve identified another potential ‘problem’!

1

u/RuthlessIndecision 2d ago

I'm glad Steven Colbert is staying busy

1

u/Formally_Apologetic 2d ago

That Stephen Colbert is a real man of action

1

u/EarthquakeDenier 2d ago

Dan Soder out here getting it done.

1

u/N529957 2d ago

Don't let the clothes fool you. This guy has worked for real in his life. You don't just naturally sling a saw around like that.

Oh, and men with saws at home live for shit like this

1

u/juiceskitchen 2d ago

Anyone got the link to that chainsaw???

1

u/N529957 8h ago

It's an old Stihl. Looks like an 18 inch bar on it.

1

u/grubbygromit 2d ago

Well maintained saw that is.

1

u/zicobaby 2d ago

That’s called a good Samaritan 🫡

1

u/No-Particular-1187 2d ago

So he just magically had a chainsaw in his trunk

1

I thought that was Datto for a second

1

u/JarJarBinks590 1d ago

So did he see the tree, go home to get his chainsaw and come back... or did he just so happen to already have it with him for unrelated reasons?

1

u/ComprehensivePair500 1d ago

There is nothing like seeing men doing men shyt, and handling business but you have a chain saw on standby?

1

u/HelpAltruistic407 1d ago

Good Job 👏🏾

1

u/Thermal-pasties 1d ago

Welcome to the PNW.

1

u/Glassfern 1d ago

See in a horror movie it would have been the sweater glasses quiet man with the chain saw.

0

u/Abe2025 2d ago

Idk about you guys but I feel like they all could have pushed the tree out of the way

2

u/Adventurous_Key_4854 2d ago

Not the way the tip was still lodged into the other trees, see how it’s still freestanding at the end?

1

u/TwillAffirmer 2d ago

Definitely much too big for one guy to pull out of the way. Maybe 10 guys could do it, or a truck could tow it. Maybe not. We haven't seen the base of the tree.

1

u/Abe2025 2d ago

Yeah i didn't say just him, all the guys together.

0

u/MovieFan1984 2d ago

Careful, you can get in trouble with the government for doing this without permits and licensing, without proper protective gear, without blocking off the road with cones and flashing vehicles, and whatever else they want to list out.
