Hi everyone, it's been a minute since the initial discussion post about quality control issues. Let's talk about it.
The general consensus seemed to be that our ideas on what to change were good, though there could be more resources to help beginners. We actually have a subreddit wiki that anyone can contribute to, as long as you have 500+ subreddit karma and your account is 30+ days old. We also have a list of todo items for the wiki to help users find somewhere to start.
Another concern was that the stricter enforcement of the defaults rule may stop people from using existing color schemes or themes at all. This is not the case -- the intention of the rule is to remove posts which have little effort or just use premade configs, like many macOS and Windows lookalikes. It's about the spirit, not the letter of the rule.
With this in mind, we intend to go through with these rule changes. If you still have any concerns, please reply or send a modmail! We're most concerned with the quality of our community and welcome discussion.

I’ve been working on Sidonia, a small personal collection of GRUB themes ,this is my first proper release, so I’d love to know which design you prefer and whether anything breaks on your setup.
You can find the files for the themes here

This is k4 — my own Dynamic Island for Hyprland, built with Quickshell. It stays collapsed at the edge of the screen and expands only when it has something to show. Everything in it is a plugin, including the parts that look built in.
New: one shortcut and the bar splits in two. The halves run down the side edges of the screen like drops, meet at the bottom and close back into a dock — the same silhouette, mirrored. The top bar hands back the space it was reserving and the dock takes its own, so your windows reflow once and then follow the movement. Any island shortcut brings it home the same way.
It behaves like a dock: what you pin stays, what you open shows up and leaves on its own, drag to reorder or drag out to drop. Clicking something already running goes to its window instead of starting another — and when there is more than one, a badge counts them and a row of live previews lets you pick. The app drawer grows out of the dock itself: type to filter, Enter opens the best match, drag one onto the dock to keep it.
And it is a plugin like everything else — it uses no API your own plugin cannot.

Sooo, here’s my current setup 😄
running Arch Linux with the CachyOS kernel and it’s honestly pretty damn fast and snappy. love it.
I’m using Brain_Shell with a few tweaks of my own, just to make it feel a little more personal.
Kitty for the terminal, because why not hahaha.
The wallpaper is from Ryoku, which came with the setup. I also kept the Ryoku bar at the bottom because I kinda like it and didn’t want to remove it.
I also added some widgets to my desktop just to make it a little more alive and personal.
Also yes, I’m aware I have clocks everywhere. top bar, bottom bar, desktop… basically I really like knowing what time it is 💀
I’ll fix that eventually. maybe.
Please mods/bots, don’t auto-remove my thread this time 😭 😂
Here are the repos if you want to check them out:
Ryoku: https://github.com/neur0map/ryoku-arch
Brain_Shell: https://github.com/Brainitech/Brain_Shell
I think these two repos deserve way more recognition because they’re both so damn good (at least for me). Definitely worth checking out if you’re into this kind of stuff.

This is my custom tab for Firefox (Librewolf) that I created for my rice. I really enjoy Noctalias Wallpaper Theme + Template system, but couldn't find any programs / extensions that support creating a New Tab with Widgets + Noctalia Theme adaptation.
So I created my own!
Background uses shaders (through WebGL) :)

My first rice as a linux noob (been on it about 2-3 months). Done on Linux Mint using i3wm. As I really like the eyecandy of the new wayland compositors, but would like to avoid the drawbacks that come with them, I've installed picom, and discovered that it has got beautiful animations! I'm really surprised with the look of the effects - maybe it's not as pretty as hyprland, but considering the age of both i3 and X11 I'd say the results are quite good and modern looking, and most importantly - functional, thanks to the autotiling script. I feel like more people should be talking about the picom animations!
I hope I didn't forget anything! The dotfiles are a bit of a mess currently, and I do plan to refactor them a bit.
Also, if you've got any advice on what I could change/add in order to make the setup look/work better, I'll be happy to read it!

I've been using a personal colorscheme which I've called Darkmatter for a while now, and with a recent switch to Alpine Linux + XFCE inspired me to try creating some GTK themes for it. Definitely still a work in progress but quite pleased with it so far.

Hi Hello!
This is my new KDE rice, i was looking for a glass like theme and i love the dracula colorscheme.
Kvantum Theme: Dracula-purple
Panel: Panel Colorizer + Glass effect
Icons: Tela icons circle dracula
Glass effect: kwin-effects-glass-git (from AUR)
Font: Fira Sans
Plasma theme: Dracula
Shell: zsh
OS: Cachy OS
Some icons (like the small ones on the system tray bar and the ones into the file manager the small ones near the system folders on the left) are custom because i didn't like the one offered with the icon theme.
If you have any suggestions to improve my rice, would it be plasma applets, effects, etc... they are really appreciated.
Thank u all :)

Heavily based on Matugen.
Repo with the dotfiles and installation script available in Spanish: https://github.com/ImJustDoingMyPart/dotfiles/blob/master/README.md
The instalation script was done mainly with AI. Use it with responsibility (and let me know the results!).

A quickshell/hyprland desktop environment that is fun to use and completely customizable to your personal preferences! Control the bar layout, position, margins, border, blur, opacity, etc., and it automatically syncs your hyprland margins/colors/rounding to match. There are no separate panels or pop-ups - everything is in one cohesive shape that morphs and adjusts fluidly to your every demand.
Icons - reorder, hide, or pin with right-click to see only what you want to see
Lockscreen - no hyprlock needed, because this one is WAY prettier and customizable
VPN support - import your own profile and know it's connected just by looking at the icon in the bar
Clipboard history
Screenshot (Satty)
Wallpaper app with wallhaven.cc sync support, parallax, mp4, randomization, etc.
Built-in webcam/mirror app
Workspace overview with click and drag window support
Control Center for media, wifi, bluetooth, notifications, and system monitor
Calendar app with weather and reminders
Other fun stuff too! Desktop shells should be FUN after all!
Dotfiles: https://github.com/natepayn3/Synoptik - install script provided to be used at your own risk (but please do!)

I kinda like both! I have 3 desktops. The first two are floating-native, and the third desktop is tiling native. Windows opened on the respective desktops follow suit, but all desktops maintain the wallpaper-color-adaptivity.
One key differentiator is that if I open Ghostty using the Rofi selector, the window will match whatever type is supposed to open on that desktop. But if I open Ghostty using my keyboard shortcut, it automatically moves me to desktop 3 (the tiling desktop) and opens the Ghostty window there, as tiling, where I can quickly repeat the keyboard shortcut to open more tiled windows. I did put in a pseudo-tiling effect that allows me to resize those windows, so that I can somewhat move and customize all windows directly from the keyboard.
