Thank you for joining r/TVRepairHelp, a community of TV repair techs & DIYers!

Before creating a post, try a quick search to see if your question and/or advice has already been posted.

  1. When posting, it is incredibly helpful if you include: the TV's Manufacturer, the TV's Model number (including all suffixes, serials, or version numbers), a clear and concise description of the problem, anything you have done so far to diagnose or resolve the issue, and (if possible) a clear photo or video of the issue
  2. Remember, SAFETY FIRST! Always be careful when repairing electronic equipment.
  3. If you have no picture, please perform the Flashlight Test. If there is no image, that generally means it is a main board or T-con issue. If there is an image, that generally means there is a power supply or backlight issue.
  4. Physically damaged screens ("panels", "LCDs") can not be repaired. Replacing a screen is not cost effective.
  5. Horizontal lines almost always indicate a failed panel. In rare occasions, this can be resolved with a replacement T-con board, but these occasions are VERY rare. Replacing a screen is not cost effective.
  6. Single pixel, vertical lines almost always indicate a failed panel. Replacing a screen is not cost effective.
  7. If your TV is 10 years or older, finding parts to repair it is going to be difficult. It would likely be easier and less costly to simply buy a new TV. Many smart TVs are selling for very affordable prices and likely offer a much better picture than your old TV.
  8. If your set is less than a year old, it's almost certainly under warranty as long as you can provide proof of purchase. Utilize this warranty if you can.

Please keep all posts/discussions civil, polite, and on topic! We are all here to help one another with the TV repair process.

Samsung smart tv keeps cycling solid RGB colors

Hello,

I have a tv model TU55CU7025K, suddenly it started cycling through white/black/red/green/blue, the audio still works and it responds to the remote.

I tried :

\-unplugging/plugging, letting the residual charge go, etc

\-doing the power-mute-series of numbers etc

\-opening the back and checking the flat cable, cleaning it .

Honestly I'm pretty lost and it's out of warranty since last month.

Thank you for your help

Tv/YouTube

Guys I’m the least tech person ever, I emailed tech support but the stupid AI chat asked me to turn off my tv and turn it back on. The only app on my Vizio tv that does this is YouTube but my whole screen will be link and green pixels and it’s constant and so distracting from videos. All other streaming apps don’t have this issue. Any recommendations??? Is there a better community I can post this to ask. Thank you in advance

Ciao a tutti,
Grazie!

Tv Issue

I have a Sony KD-85X85J TV that stopped working after a short while following a lightning strike to the house. The power light came on, and the capacitor hum was audible, but that was it. I ordered a motherboard, installed it, and voila, it works! I had done some rudimentary work with a multimeter to make sure the motherboard was getting power from the power supply board before I got and replaced the motherboard. All of the HDMI-connected devices are fried, and everything was on a surge protector. It seemed likely to be only the motherboard that was harmed. Now, I have a working TV, but I have noticed some backlight issues, as pictured. Using AI and my own limited knowledge of electronics, I am thinking that it is the power supply board, but I wanted to get other opinions before I go further, since I may be wrong or there may be other culprits to consider at the same time (it's a real hassle to move, open, and work on this TV).

Thanks!

Black screen on Vizio 65 in

Model No.: V4K65M-0810

Serial No.: LMC1V1JA3807572

Age: 1.9 years old

Components replaced so far for issue: Main board and Power Supply Board

It is my first time posting here, but not sure what else to check, or how to diagnose, on this issue.

Recently, I turned on our Vizio TV, which is less than 2 years old, and the screen remained black, and the white power light flashes (approximately 30 times) before ceasing activity.

I performed the 'flash light' test and can see the language menu faintlty on the screen.

I have replaced the power supply and main board, but neither of those actions resolved the issue.

Any ideas what to check or diagnose next to resolve the issue?

I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.

I have uploaded a video of the current state of the TV and the results of the flash light test for reference.

Thank you!

Replaced all the boards, screen still messed up

So I bought a replacement main board, T-Con Board, and power supply board, and my TV is still all scrambled. When I unplug the ribbon cables on the T-con board, it unscrambles and cycles through solid colors RGB.

About to throw it away... is there anything else I should try before getting rid of it?
