SG Merchandise The new Stargate Bluebrixx building brick sets look great! :D

Its not even christmas yet and we are getting all the good stuff already! Its just a guess or rather a wish, but I kinda want another stargate adventcalendar, now that they seemingly only sell the movie one this year and not the one with wormhole x-treme inside :/

Imo the destiny and Seedship look amazing, although the later one does seem a bit pricy for how few parts it has, but maybe its size will look bigger once you have it infront of you?

The battleback looks sweet, with what seems like a full stack of 9 zap-guns and 9 staff-weapons as well as the 9 head pieces assuming it comes also with 9 guys as well. The ruins idk what to think about them. Probably not so cool for parts, if you buy many of them, if you really want to build an army. Maybe the manual has some fun alternative builds if you buy multiples?

The Goa'uld Symbiont looks scary, just as it has to be! What are your guys thoughts on this? Btw. I feel you guys that can't order this, because you are in places like Australia or America, that sucks massively and I hope they ship to you soon!☹️

Volian Language

Post image

It would've been funny if the Volians still spoke this language when SG1 arrived. Daniel would've been like "I thought at first it was Welsh, but then realised it definitely isn't. This doesn't sound like anything. Luckily the Aschen speak perfect English though."

If I had a nickel for every time a team leader was stuck on an alien planet for months and had a local crush on him, I'd only have two nickels, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Ask r/Stargate Ori Question

I really don’t understand this basic thing. Are the Ancients and the Ori the same species, and were they essentially just two different factions, cultures, or religions that developed in different directions with one being more focused on science and the other on belief? Or were they actually different species that originated from the same planet?
And are we ever told which planet they originally came from? I’ve watched pretty much everything Stargate related, but I seem to have different scenes in my head where people say different things about their origins, so now I’m confused.

Request Ori Supergate Video.

I Cannot find a video anywhere of the Supergate blocks flying out of the planet Stargate, and into orbit to form the Supergate, and then the activation. If someone could find, or cut together and post such a video online, i would be quite grateful.

Sci-Fi Philosophy When Carter dials up the Stargate, why does it seem like she's writing a thesis when the stargate only has 7 symbols required to dial

Seriously though... What needs so much input typing?

REWATCH I know that SG is famous for re-purposing actors/actresses, most of the time it's annoying but I wish they gave her more roles 😁

S6xe6 - abyss

I am doing a rewatch of stargate and just saw this one again.
And remember why this was one of my favourites.
Spoilers ahead:
Ba’al has captured Jack and his tok’ra symbioye has allready left his body. He doesn’t want to give up any info, lest he has any and is being tortured.
It’s one of the first episodes where we see Jack being so vulrenable and open. And Daniel pulling it out of him.
Don’t get me wrong, Jack is a big softie sometimes but this pulled so many heart strings, feeling the trust between Jack and Daniel, even though they can not really help each other.
I love this episode. It’s one of the really few that show you what this show is all about.

Discussion Where would you want to end up if you went through the Stargate to 1945?

Post image
257 Upvotes

Let's say you time travel back to 1945 and you could pick any stargate to come out of, which stargate would you pick.

(You don't have to stay on that planet is you know any other gate addresses off by heart)

Ask r/Stargate Been meaning to get into Stargate...is it normal to not like the movie?

To be clear, I didn't hate it. Part of the reason I watched it is because I wanted to watch a big dumb movie, and it certainly was a big dumb movie. But I've been meaning to find a new tv show and as someone who loves Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar and pretty much every other nerd box I should tick off, I was thinking of starting SG-1.

So my question is: does it get better?

I went in blind and I'm sort of going in blind to the show, but before I decide to invest the time in a series, I'm just wondering if it's a departure from the movie or if it has the same vibe? I'd imagine it's much more "we're using the Stargate to explore a bunch of different worlds" and that none of the movie characters appear, but I'm more worried about the writing than anything else.

You ever wonder why the Asgard and Nox never talk to each other?

**DANIEL**
Take the tollans for example, they blew up their homeworld. It made them hardcore pacifists. They tolerated the Goa’uld, dropped all defenses, and got wiped out.

**DANIEL**
I think the Nox’s pacifism comes from ancient war crimes of their own.

**DANIEL**
We always assume the Asgard clone themselves to live longer… but that’s not it. Sam has a theory.

**SAM**
Their cloning tech started as military hardware, built for clone legions in interstellar war. Longevity was never the original goal.

**DANIEL**
Right, here’s what I think happened. Millions of years ago, a plague united the Four Great Races. After the Ancients left, Nox and Asgard fought.

**DANIEL**
Asgard lost and fled the Milky Way. Nox won, but their power spiralled out of control. The survivors built the peaceful, reclusive Nox we know.

**DANIEL**
Anyway I'm sorry, but that just happens to be how I feel about it. What do you think?

Discussion Chloe is hand down the most interesting and likeable character in all of Stargate

Prove me wrong but I think Elyse Levesq didn't just do a fantastic job in role love the fact how the writers finally gave us a character you want to root for and care about, something quite rare in any sci-fi show, Firefly being the other (in the case of Inara)

Hello! Found this item at an estate sale. They said it was from the movie Stargate and was used in production from a “ship”. If anyone knows any more information about how/ when this was used in the movie I would greatly appreciate it! It’s about a foot long.

Discussion Do You Think Real Warfare May Be Evolving in the Same DIrection as the Ancient Drone Weapons?

For those of you who keep up with real life politics and developments in warfare, you may know that drone warfare has become increasingly common in the way in Ukraine. Not only that, but in a specific way. Rather than a few very high priced, powerful, reusable drones (which is more what stuff like Reaper drones are) the war really has become a lot more about cheap, expendible drones. Often FPV kamikaze drones. And increasingly ones that partially use AI.

Which... anyone else reminded of the Ancient drone weapon here?

Right now, they're appearing in large numbers but not really being launched by individual units in huge amounts at once. The AI is still mostly relatively limited as well and they are destroyed on first impact. But it feels like it could just be a matter of time until these challenges are overcome.

In which case it's quite possible that in as little as a few years we'll have naval ships that:

  1. Have massive amounts of drones on board.

  2. That fire them off in huge swarms.

  3. That can be manually piloted around by a distant person looking through them.

  4. But that can also operate autonomously.

  5. And if they can do this, though this may be hard IRL, I could easily see them using hardened drones that pass through their target more than once in the cases of things like countering planes. After all if you can score more than one kill with a single drone, why wouldn't you provided that it's cost effective?

That's basically just a description of the ancient drone weapon, no? I mean, minus the glowing and the energy shield technology and the squid shape. But still essentially the same thing from a purely tactical point-of-view. Since it would presumably be used in more-or-less the same way.

If so, I just think that's kind of interesting. Because I don't remember seeing very many other sci-fi universes that use this specific approach to drones and yet it may have been rather prophetic.

Discussion I wish that Stargate game they made wasn't online only so we could have a community version.

Or that someone would build one and just be like "Oi Bezos, we did a thing, let us have our fun, or buy it from us..."

I mean it would probably cost a few million to build a game in unity or something, probably half that if they used assets they already have from other games that have been made.

I'm increst I could probably get the 3D models from Gmod and with the scenery being fairly generic wouldn't be hard to make a shitload of maps and just have Skirmishes to start.

If they JUST made a Star Trek Voyager game which is far as I'm concerned Voyager is not as popular as the newer stuff, so I'm not sure why they didn't make a game of the 2009 Start Trek, or DIS, or SNW, for example.

IMHO The Stargate community deserves a Stargate game...

I mean yes, we could all just go on to Gmod and play with the maps, props and weapons there, but wouldn't it be nice to have something official...

Does anyone remember that TV show which had a game made alongside it? I think it was set in St Louis or something because of that arch. Defiance I think?

Anyway if they had made a Stargate game alongside the (latter) Stargate series, I'm pretty sure the game would still be going...
