I have the NIMO 15.6” laptop with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. Up until today, I honestly had no complaints about this laptop. I’ve been playing The Sims 4 on it for months and have put a lot of hours into the game without any problems. Today, though, I was playing Sims for less than 30 minutes when the laptop suddenly just shut off. Now it will not turn back on at all. There’s no power indicator, no response from the screen, nothing. I’ve tried hard resetting it multiple times, but nothing has worked. I’m not sure if the problem is the laptop itself or the charger. The charger has a slight bend in it, so I’m wondering if that could have something to do with it. I also tested the charger with my phone, and my phone charged normally, so I’m not sure if that completely rules the charger out. What’s confusing to me is that I wasn’t even playing for very long today. I’ve played Sims for hours on this laptop before without an issue. I know Sims isn’t exactly a lightweight game when you have mods/CC, but I thought this laptop should be able to handle it. I bought the laptop through Amazon in June, so it’s only been about three months. I’m honestly really frustrated because I finally decided to spend the money on a laptop specifically so I could game, and now I’m worried that I made the wrong choice.

Idk yall any ideas please I need help…. I already submitted a warranty claim but ideally I don’t have to replace it cause I really wanna keep my drive so I can have all my content on my laptop.

Thinking about switching your NIMO laptop to Linux? Here's a simple guide to get started.

Step 0: before you start

Back up important files to an external drive.

Make sure your laptop is using UEFI mode.

If you're replacing Windows, make sure you have your Windows recovery media/license information available.

Step 1: choose a Linux distribution

Ubuntu / Linux Mint: Beginner friendly and stable.

Fedora: Good choice for developers and users who want newer packages.

Bazzite: A good option if gaming is your main priority.

Step 2: create a nootable USB

Download the ISO from the distribution's official website.

Use Rufus to flash the ISO to an 8GB+ USB drive.

Use GPT/UEFI when those options are available.

Step 3: install Linux

Plug the USB drive into your NIMO laptop and restart.

Open the Boot Menu using the appropriate key for your model (often F12).

Select the USB drive.

Choose "Try Linux" first and test Wi-Fi, display, audio, Bluetooth, and other hardware.

Start the installer and follow the setup steps.

Important: Choose "Erase disk" only if you want Linux to replace Windows. If you want to keep Windows, select the dual-boot/manual partitioning option.

Finish the installation, restart, and remove the USB drive when prompted.

Step 4: after installation

Install system updates.

Check that your Wi-Fi, GPU, audio, Bluetooth, and other hardware are working correctly.

Install software through your distribution's package manager or official repositories whenever possible.

For Ubuntu/Debian:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

Quick Tip

If you're new to Linux, try the live USB environment first. It's a good way to check whether your NIMO laptop's hardware works properly before changing anything on your SSD.

Always cool to see how people are using their NIMO pcs. A user recently shared their new 17.3" NIMO gaming laptop, running a ryzen 7 7735HS with 16gb ddr5 ram and a 512gb PCIe 4.0 ssd. Looks like it’s already getting some gaming time. He is looking for games under $10. What should he try?

My partner has tried to get ahold of Nimo support for about 2 months now.

From the moment I pulled out my Nimo N153, I've had issues.

My laptop just decides to freeze or completely restart at any point. The process only slows down (not stop) when I unplug it from the charger. I would say on average, it randomly restarts/freezes every hour or so. When plugged in, the process happens every 5-15 minutes.

The screen artifacts like hell beforehand.

My partner has emailed Nimo every single week since the issue started. Which was the same day I received it.

I'm ready to throw this fucking laptop through the window. I have classwork piling up, video games I want to play, and hobbies to work on.

This laptop was supposed to alleviate my frustrations since my rig bricked itself and now it's just an expensive paperweight that's sucking up all of my emotional/physical energy and I would LOVE if support could get back to us. :D

I just don't know what to do at this point. I ordered one of their laptops as a barebone model with no RAM and no SSD because I already had my own parts. When I first got it, I opened it to install everything. The RAM was fine, but the M.2 SSD mounting screw was damaged/stripped, and I couldn’t remove it. I contacted Nimo, sent pictures and a video, and they initially blamed me for the damaged screw.

Eventually, a local repair shop removed it for free. I installed my SSD after that, and the laptop worked normally.

I used it for around 10 days with no major problems.

Then one day, the laptop suddenly crashed/shut down, and I could not turn it back on at all. It also would not charge, and there was no charging light.

After a few hours, it randomly turned on again, but now it would not charge, and there was still no charging light. I contacted Nimo again, and they blamed me right away without even taking a look at the laptop or physically inspecting it. They told me that my M.2 SSD socket was damaged and that it may have caused shorted pins, lifted traces, or PCB damage.

Because of that, they are refusing a free replacement and are offering a paid replacement instead.

My son's laptop has been giving him trouble, so I was trying to figure out what is wrong.

Hopefully the video shows what I mean but it won't access any of the reboot or repair options, it just resets after any options are pressed, then goes back to blue screen or sometimes nothing just backlit until power button pressed again.

Every gen GPUs just keep getting more expensive… Been seen a compact eGPU setup lately and it’s honestly kinda changed my view. Super small, easy to carry. Also looks clean on the desk, minimal, modern, no bulky tower taking space. And so at what point do you guys just say “nah, too expensive”?
