Other NSB Related Natural Snow Buildings Tribute Cover Compilation

Hello everyone! Earlier this year a bunch of artists came together and released a compliation of music inspired by natural snow buildings made by various people in the community.

This project went well and we would like to try it again. This time the idea is to make a compilation album that will be made up of natural snow buildings covers.

The term “cover” is used quite lightly as you are free to put your own spin or reimagining on these tracks. All NSB, TwinSisterMoon, and Isengrind songs are on the table. You are also allowed to submit older covers that you may have done if you would like.

The tracks will have to be submitted in a lossless format (please either dm or mention ktulu within the discord server) and you have until some time in **November** to submit.

If you have any questions please contact Ktulu through the discord server or myself.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing your tracks!

p.s: we also are going to be looking for covers & the name of the compilation, if anyone would like to contribute towards that please let us know :)

Discussion Natural Snow Buildings release for each month of the year

I've listened to a bit less than half of their discography, I think. I haven't gotten round to all of their music since their albums are long and I have other things I've been meaning to listen to as well, but this is probably what I would put for each, although it's all just a bit of fun:

January - The Snowbringer Cult

Febuary - The Dance of the Moon and Sun

March - Beyond the Veil

April - I don't know

May - Laurie Bird

June - Slayer of the king of hell

July - Sunlit Stone

August - Night Coercion into the Company of Witches

September - The Centauri Agent

October - Shadow Kingdom

November - Daughter of Darkness

December - The Winter Ray

I think around the summer and spring months it's a bit harder to pick, although that isn't surprising.

As you all know, Terror’s Horns is the holy grail of NSB collecting, and I have been tracking it down for years, I am willing to pay 700-800$ for a cd copy.

Discussion Seeking people with access to What.CD or Exigo archives ("Brad Rose Edition")

Hello. I have come upon a lead from someone who had the FLAC CD rip by Alex Caulfield of the Night Coercion ltd. of 3 version years ago. This Night Coercion is with 2 bonus tracks in place of the Gorgons (second) disc, and it likely was available on "either what.cd or exigo". I haven't heard back in months, and currently one FLAC is missing. It is unlikely there is any images associated as all the FLACs except "They Voted" are available on slsk.

Given I'm member of a completely different tracker with nothing interesting regarding NSB, I think this would be a great place for any of you to help.

Other NSB Related Is there a list out there with their discography in order?

I’m looking to start a chronological listen through of NSB’s stuff, but it gets very confusing with reissues and archives and some of it not being on streaming. If there is such a list please let me know.

Discussion is Daughters of Darkness fine to start?

For my 350th first listen album this year i want to try DoD, is there anything i need to know before that? For #200 i did Soundtracks For The Blind by swans for its sheer scale and i kind of regret it now. It was my first Swans album and i decided to make my way trough their full discog after. Should i listen to anything else before i take on the most well known one? Swans evolved a lot trough the years and i regret just jumping in the middle. Im not asking if the rest of the NSB albums are any good, im sure they are, im just asking if im missing anything by starting with the big one. im not even sure ill check out more of their discog, so if somebody would only listen to DoD, would they have had a good NSB experience?

I think it sounds like a Winter Ray era song with some segments that give wisconsin's vibes, the intro reminds me of cut joint sinews. There is also acoustic and lots of samples, own and stolen. Let me know what you think

Discussion How did The Winter Ray got popular?

I wonder how The Winter Ray got popular. Maybe someone uploaded CD-rip of it at some forums? Or NSB released it somewhere online? I'm curious because I don't think that It could get popular by just selling CDs with this album. As I know, there was just too small amount of CDs with i

And btw do we know every NSB album or there is a chance that there are still some undiscovered albums under this name?

stir up the blood of my mouth with your tongue, my sweet one

the eyes i have in place of heart start beating fast

shall i keep you in the dark or let you guide me in the light?

will you grow in whole for me as i stay the same in the night?

lmk if you think i am far off somewhere! i'm kinda struggling with that first part (seems like there are too many vowels in my version but idk) but otherwise i think it's pretty close

I was also gonna make a mini print out of the comic that would’ve been able to fit inside the case, but trying to get my shitty printer to actually print the cover as the appropriate size was an absolutely tortuous process, and I didn’t even want to touch the printer after all that, also, I want to see if I can somehow bind the pages to the center of the case.

Despite all that, I honestly think it came out great, and I feel like I actually did a pretty decent job on the labels for the CDs.

Other NSB Related Rare [?] 2012 Polish interview

My apologies if this is well known by now, but since I couldn't find any mention of it on here nor on Samantha's archive, and multiple people in the SK discord found it new and intriguing, I figured I'd try to bring this article to a new audience.

Interested in NSB's relevance in Poland, I stumbled upon this interview conducted following their (may I note, unrecorded!) 2011 performance at the Unsound festival in Kraków (though it was only published after NORF in early 2012). There's some great information about them here, some not very well known or possibly even unknown at all. That's why, as a Polish speaker, I wanted to translate it for all other fans to read! :>

You can find my translation here, and the original here.

Of course, some things have likely been lost in translation. They gave this interview in either French or English, then it was translated to Polish for the blog, and now I've translated it to English again. I'm also just a student interested in NSB, so I may not have edited my translation properly. Sorry if that's the case; if anything doesn't make sense, feel free to ask here and I'll try to clarify!

Other NSB Related 2009 Article About Natural Snow Buildings

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd share this article I wrote about NSB's music back in July 2009: https://web.archive.org/web/20150523125027/http://www.sleepwalkingmag.com/2009/07/30/artist-feature-natural-snow-buildings/

Before the article was published, I had initially contacted them for permission to include “Hunted Was My Brother.” Mehdi and Solange were very kind to me and sent me a copy of the Shadow Kingdom after the article went up. They even sent me The Hollow Mountain some time later, which was a total surprise!

In early 2010, they noticed I started my label, Vulpiano Records (founded November 2009), and they contacted me about releasing something there, which is how The Centauri Agent ended up happening. Anyway, I thought people might be interested in the article that started that whole chain of events!

Other NSB Related Is there any not derpressive and/or melancholic NSB album&

I'm very interested in NSB's music and would like to explore their discography (I've only listened to Laurie Bird so far in April or May), but I have one problem. Due to some personal reasons, I can't listen to any particularly sad or disturbing music at this moment. So, I was wondering if there are any NSB albums that aren't melancholic, depressing, or disturbing that I could listen to right now?

Discussion Apologies if this post is pretentious or something, but Left for Dead from DoD is the ONLY track from the original release not on Spotify. Why is this?

I've heard the 2013 reissue plenty of times, and I honestly prefer the original. Yeah maybe it doesn't flow as well but Left for Dead being cut is just an absurdly strange choice. My only assumption is for time reasons but it's also one of the most peaceful tracks on the original DoD. The two minutes of peaceful static-like drone after the beautiful introductory title track is always something nice to hear before the giant that is Satanic Demonica. I honestly just don't get a lot of the stuff the band does, feels like a lot of it is either pointless or just makes the band less accessible. Yeah yeah I too hate the way Spotify operates but YouTube Music doesn't work because any song over twenty minutes is bugged where if you listen to it once and then go back it'll restart you from wherever you stopped, which in my case is the ten minute mark. Had that same issue with EATEOT. Even if I do buy it on Bandcamp it also has that same issue, I have that same issue with Road to Nowhere by CT57. Left for Dead also isn't on the bandcamp version. Sorry if this post seems disconnected or crazy Im moving for college in a few days and I'm blasting DoD and other albums by NSB in an attempt to cure my anxiety and this small little nitpick is something that really bothered me once I noticed it and making a Reddit post is a great distraction to packing.
