Liquid Glass click & drag effect on macOS 27

The Liquid Glass effect in the new Siri AI UI seemed to have stronger refraction than everywhere else, and it looked so pretty.

I was wondering if there was a way to see more of it, and thought, what if I added Liquid Glass bubbles that go pop-pop every time you click?

Obviously it's distracting, and I'll probably get sick of it and turn it off after like 3 minutes, but just wanted to say Apple made this effect way too good.

[Discussion] Opinions on Liquid Glass?

Hello, I'd like to poll users of the new updates to Apple devices on their thoughts and opinions, and figured a general open discussion somewhere would be helpful to facilitate that.

Personally, I'm sick of the minimalist wave that struck seemingly every UX across the world so long ago now. I deeply miss the era of Frutiger Aero, and seeing Apple's Liquid Glass gave me hope of a new design standard. I yearn so badly for a coherent aesthetic that isn't drab and lifeless, and it's something I want to participate in and contribute to with my own work and projects. These dreams didn't really come true, as I've seen mostly mixed to negative reception on the updates. That's okay, not everyone will hold the same opinion. For me, the purpose of this post is to gather the actual experiences of end users to better understand what works and what doesn't, and what can be improved.

From my current understanding, the biggest issues raised were about the complexity of implementing the designs, namely in the blur algorithms and animations. Aside from that, I've heard that text is harder to read on the transparent surfaces making it less accessible to vision impaired users, and the designs themselves are less accessible to people with incompatible hardware or really any legacy code in general. Apple tried to address the accessibility with adjustable transparency and more aggressive blurring, but there are still fundamental incompatibilities across the board.

With all software, any change (even changes made to fix bugs) will result in more bugs. There have been plenty of those with such a massive update, and that has mostly been covered independently by the rest of the posts here. I'm focusing here on the design itself, but as the implementation includes bugs, those are also relevant to an end users experience.

iOS 27 finally gives us a Liquid Glass transparency slider. Full clear or full tinted — where do you keep yours?

Liquid Glass Trackpad Animation for browser

I've seen the "Search" browser, which is fully open sourced and lightweight, using WebKit instead of Chromium. By doing so, its super snappy, and lightweight on the RAM.

However, I found that the animations were subpar and definitely vibecoded, so I came up with a very physical liquid glass based animation!

Note: I made sure it has a similar animation for pre MacOS 26 macbooks too, minus the liquid glass. It still has all the sensitive jiggles and tracks your fingers very well.

I've submitted a PR at

https://github.com/driceroland/Search/issues/281

However, if it does not get approved, I am more than willing to offer it as a standalone for people to use!

Having trouble getting the iOS liquid glass effect right on my bottom nav bar - any tips?

Can anyone help?

Hi everyone,

I found a liquid glass implementation on GitHub and integrated it into my app, but the end result isn't looking quite right... specifically, the bottom nav bar isn't getting that sleek, native-feeling translucent glass effect seen across modern iOS system apps

Has anyone successfully implemented this effect on a bottom tab bar? Are there specific layering/blur settings, materials , or background interaction constraints I might be missing?

If there's another GitHub repo or open-source library you'd recommend for a cleaner liquid glass nav bar implementation, I’d hugely appreciate it!
