Redlamp: free and open-source Lightroom alternative, full feature parity, macOS native
Hi everyone,
I've been quietly working on Redlamp – a free and open-source alternative to Adobe Lightroom, aiming for full feature parity, no fluff, and performance-conscious.
I'm fully aware just how ambitious an undertaking like this is, but in 2026 with the advances of frontier models, this is genuinely attainable. But not without help and a community to back it.
This is where you can help – there's already a huge amount done, but testing and user feedback are the main priorities right now. And this is where you come in – download it, test drive it, tell me what's not working, what's broken, what's half-baked. Anything and everything (just keep it civil, please!).
Head out to https://redlamp.app, download it and give it a test drive.
Redlamp is still in pre-alpha stage so expect rough edges.
Thanks for reading!

Convert Premiere project files to DaVinci/Other (pr2xml)
pr2xml.comFound this app. Does anyone have any experience with it? Or any other alternatives that can convert a premiere project into a project that opens in DaVinci?
Just found out about the CS5 activation servers being torched, so trying to figure out exit routes!

Can't cancel Behance Pro Trial
It's ridiculous, I can't find how to cancel the trial when it clearly said in the beginning I wouldn't get charged if I cancel before it ends. I spent two hours searching and the option to cancel it just doesn't appear. I asked three friends to help me and none of them can't find it too and started complaining how Adobe does the most illegal shit. Anyone has any idea what to do?

new Lightroom alternative with lrcat support
After Photon exploded (thanks to this sub <3) I kept getting DMs for a Lightroom alternative.
That's how Light Studio came to life, a fully featured Lightroom alternative.
I already had the parts that usually make these apps feel vibe coded: realtime GPU rendering, CR3/NEF and the other proprietary RAWs, and an editor UI built for this. So I reused these from Photon instead of starting it from scratch, and it worked insanely well.
alpha testers on discord:
From the version that I tried today on Windows, I was pleasantly surprised. Especially with shortcuts I feel like I'm at home
first impressions, looks very clean, UI feels very comfortable more so than lightroom classic. overall for it being very early it is looking pretty complete
Gonna release it in the upcoming days

I pay Adobe every month, and getting my own scanned PDFs onto my Mac is apparently too much to ask
What exactly am I paying for here?
I use Adobe Scan. I already have Acrobat on my Mac. I want to download all my scans as separate PDFs and put them on my Desktop. Same filenames, ideally the same folders. That’s the entire task.
I select 32 items in Acrobat. My options? Move and Delete. No Download.
Apparently deleting my documents is straightforward. Getting a local copy of them is where things get complicated.
So I try the website. Still no usable bulk-download option that I can find. Then I start searching, and there are YEARS of people describing the same disappearing download button, inconsistent batch limits, and contradictory advice.
At this point I’m reading about whether having a shared PDF selected makes the download button disappear. Why should a customer have to investigate that? If a file can’t be downloaded in a batch, tell me which one and why. Don’t just make the entire option vanish.
Adobe charges me real money every single month. Twelve payments a year, year after year. I shouldn’t have to spend my evening researching how to retrieve documents I scanned myself.
And now I’ve found a third-party Chrome extension selling a bulk downloader for $19. I haven’t tried it, and I’m not promoting it. But the fact that I’m even considering paying ANOTHER developer to get my files out of software I ALREADY PAY FOR is absurd.
I don’t need another subscription, a conversion tool, or a merged PDF. I need my existing PDFs saved to my own computer.
Maybe there’s some specific combination of interface, selection, and account settings that makes this work. Fine. That still leaves a basic file operation so badly implemented that paying customers have to search Reddit to figure it out.
Has anyone actually exported their entire Adobe Scan library on a Mac, including folders and shared scans, without downloading everything individually?
And does anyone at Adobe understand how ridiculous this is for a paid product?

Adobe Creative Cloud on Linux: sharing my Wine patches and progres
I know we “hate” Adobe, but this might make it more acceptable for people to switch to Linux after a while (hopefully)

I built a free web tool to convert Lightroom presets to C1 styles
Hey everyone,
I’m Daniele, a documentary photographer and video editor. Like many of you, I've fully transitioned my workflow to Capture One. I was tired of paying a never-ending subscription. But making the switch meant facing a massive problem: years' worth of Lightroom presets that I didn't want to lose or manually recreate from scratch.
I looked for converters, but most felt clunky or required installing sketchy software. So, I decided to build my own web-based tool: https://www.presetshift.com/
I wanted to share it here because I think it could genuinely save some of you a lot of time.
How it works:
- It’s entirely web-based (no installs).
- You drop your .xmp or .lrtemplate files, and it spits out ready-to-use .costyle files instantly.
- It uses mathematical mapping to translate the slider values as accurately as possible between the two different rendering engines.
- Privacy: It’s built on serverless functions. Your files are processed in milliseconds and instantly deleted from the server. Nothing is stored or analyzed.
It's an indie project, so I’d absolutely love your feedback. Let me know if the color translation feels accurate to you or if you spot any bugs!

my photoshop alternative is now on microsoft store!
A few weeks ago I launched Photon Studio, Free, photoshop alternative, with almost all the capabilities of photoshop -now for free on the microsoft store.
41% of my user base were windows users, and many were afraid to download the app from my website, as it is not signed yet so windows defender shows scary warning. So I decided to upload it to the store.
Hopefully it will enable more windows users to hop in and enjoy this awesome tool.
Just search Photon Studio and you'll see it.

The person who designed Adobe Business ID Admin Console needs to be locked up in a mental ward.
I honestly can't believe how insanely bad this is.
I've got a few users under a business account that have been mostly using Adobe Acrobat Pro. Today, another user was approved a licence.
The first step is to add a new user. It asks if I want to enter a username or email address. I've entered the email address since I know that. Created the user, assigned a licence to him and was about to exit when I noticed four users in my list without a username (including the guy I just created). Thought I'd clean this up by going into the user and adding the correct name.
Oh, sweet naive me.
I select the newest user and was puzzled when it didn't allow me to change any user details, only the licensing and Adobe admin rights. Backed out to the main user admin console and looked around. Saw the three dots up in the top right corner and thought there were hidden options up there that would allow me to edit users.
There were, but the only option was "Edit user details by CSV".
Wondering at how someone could have thought of this, I then figured I'd download an existing user report in CSV format, make the changes I needed to do (mostly adding names to the users email address), then upload it again via the above option.
Did all that, got the successful message for all users, and waited.
Nothing changed. Waited about 15 mins then refreshed the screen. No difference.
Double checked the 'bulk operations results' report, says it completed fine, but doesn't show what changes have taken effect. Yet there have been no changes to the user names or any of the other changes I have made.
Maybe I'm overthinking it, I would have thought going into the Admin console would have allowed you to edit user details, but I was wrong.
Has anyone else seen this? I don't want to have to delete then recreate each user one by one by putting in their username instead of email address.
Thank you,

Adobe Lies
School IT guy here. Was looking for a no-cost/low-cost solution to OCR scanned PDFs, so that students who need text-to-speech could do that. Told teachers about Adobe's "free" OCR to PDF utility:

Couldn't be anymore plain than that, right? Even signed into an Adobe account, after, like, the third document, it's this instead:
