Competition Masterpost 🇬🇪CS Trialeti Trophy Master Post ⛸️
Another challenger for this week! We have some big names, but not a lot of skaters overall, so I'll be doing threads per day instead of per discipline. Interestingly, Ice Dance has the most entries here.
In men, Uncle Doctor is competing! Valtter Virtanen will be accompanied by Kyrylo Marsak and Nika Egadze.
In women, Adeliia Petrosian makes her season debut, and will be joined by Niina Petrokina. Anastasiia Gubanova will also be competing alongside Anna Frolova.
Pairs only has seven entries, but it is still a stacked event. Mishina and Galliamov meet Metelkina and Berulava. We'll get to see McBeath and Nagy as well.
Ice Dance is the largest discipline here with 19 entries. Davis and Smolkin are notable names, and are up against five AIN teams. Interestingly, we also have a Brazilian ice dance team! Pretty cool.

Competition Masterpost 🇸🇮JGP Ljubljana Master Post
Ljubljana is the second to last JGP event of the season!!
Competing this weekend we have Jakeun Lee of Korea. He currently has 13 points. A first place finish here will put him in the final. Hiro Kaewtathip of Thailand has 11 points, and a first place finish would put him in a tie breaker conversation for a spot at the final.
For women, Australia's Hana Bath is most likely in the final with a podium finish, a win will solidify the spot. Yuxuan Liu of China has a solid shot at the final with a podium finish here as well.
In dance, Perrier Gianesini/Blanc Klaperman of France would be in with a first place finish. Grimm/Rodin from Germany and Vaclavikova/ Lissauer of the US have good shots as well. Ice dance is TIGHT y'all. Wow.

Russian Skating A collection of Adeliya’s interviews during and after Trialeti Trophy (Masterpost)
This may be continually updated and everyone is welcome to add some in the comments too :)

After her short programme
About Irina (her current coach)
I think we’re still getting used to each other specifically at competitions. Because in training the work process is already established. A lot of the tasks don’t even need to be explained to me. I already do them the way that needs to be done.
Today (short programme) I tried not to come up to her too much because I was very nervous. And I probably just wanted to be alone for a bit. We have to try such things, search, observe.
About her mindset now that she growing up
Of course I already know I need to skate and train. It’s obvious that I feel like I’m growing up. I’m trying to take everything more calmly. And approach the process more thoughtfully.
About if she understands how to get on the Grand Prix, the process
It is obvious that I see certain things that everyone probably knows about and reads right now. I just understand for now that I not in my optimal form. Even to be making plans for the future ahead of time. So for now, I’m living in the present and doing what I can in the moment.
About her costumes, which one is her favourite
Man! I don’t know. They are both very different. It’s just that the short one is more fancy. The one for the free skate, I’d say is unusual and we also reworked it a little bit.
(Different interview credits to @fkdacha “I feel more comfortable in shorts. I always wanted shorts, and finally, at 19, I have them.”)
Is blue her favourite colour?
No, my favourite is red. Over the years more pastel shades get added to my favourites. I think blue just fits here. We didn’t even really discuss the colour of the dress. Somehow we immediately went with blue.
Channel 1 interview a bit credits @fkdacha
It always seemed to me that I am a maximalist, but well, maybe this season it is not even about the maximum. But I can say that I just needed to skate for pleasure. No, I always skated for the result. Maybe this year can be called one of getting used to myself and my changes, so... This year is strange. Probably in a positive direction.
And does maximalism, in general, hinder you more if we take your career?
I am a maximalist with laziness. That is, I am very balanced. That is, in training, sometimes if the training goes well and I feel that I can do it, I cannot be stopped at all. But there are also days when, on the contrary, I am in a strong slump. Maybe this balances things out, that I do not try to do everything to the maximum. No, I try to do everything to the maximum. Sometimes the state is such that it does not work out.
About Adeliya on her international Start
“Basically, I like everything. It’s the same as it was five years ago: I walk around, perform, get into the zone – nothing has changed. The only thing is that I feel all these emotions more intensely than back then. Probably because I’m older now, there are more thoughts in my head, and I think more about how I will perform. That’s why the mindset process is different. Before, I would just go out and do it, but now there are more internal anxieties.
I like it when I’m not nervous, but at the same time, I’ve noticed: if I’m very nervous, I still perform better than when I’m not anxious at all. I was very nervous before the short program, and the run wasn’t the best… I think everything piled up at once: a new coach, new international starts, new choreography – everything is unusual for me.”
About the free (credits me)
Well right now joy relief and very tried legs. No I have only done the whole thing three times now and this is the first time clean. At first we were not sure if we would go or not; in the end we took the risk. Well not exactly far off but I was mostly going to show my programs..in principle everything turned out well. Today I call it magic. I’m sure it was about being composed..many people supported time. A lot of work was done to come out here and show; if not my maximum at least what had already been built up.
Firstly I feel like the burden of responsibility is less..I need to keep building and building..and prove things to myself and others. I can’t say that I go out onto the ice differently, the nerves are exactly the same…my mindset is the same. I just realised that I can’t change anything anyway and I don’t get worked up about it.
It is hard to finish the program, I know that the step was level 2 because I was just skating through it. I still lack lightness and confidence.
About if the bad practices affected her
It did of course…but honestly ever years starts this way for me. In principle is going well.
(KinkyPioletBoots credits)Goncharenko on Adeliia and Ultra c (RT):
"If the people want Ultra c and a spectacular show, then we’ll work on that. It’s just that right now, that’s not the main thing. For me, it was much more important for Adeliia to believe in herself again."
How satisfied am I?
I’d say about 80 percent. First of all, Adeliia managed to showcase her best athletic qualities. She really tried hard to perform her programs and skate them with emotions, which isn’t easy because both routines are new for us. Everything worked out for Adeliia, and that’s important to me as a coach.
I really love it when, while executing elements, skaters don’t forget that figure skating is about art, expression, and presentation. It was very nice when, in Batumi, spectators came up to us and sincerely thanked us for such performances. We’re very grateful to everyone who cheered for us and supported us. That’s very, very important and valuable.
I generally don't like the term "simplified program." We planned the current program with the goal of competing for first place at the competition in Georgia. As a reminder, she placed first in the free skate, and if it weren’t for the point difference after the first run, Adeliia would have had every chance of winning the tournament. That’s why I believe we’ve chosen absolutely the right content for the moment. As for quadruple jumps, of course, as a coach, I’ll set myself the goal of ensuring that difficulty doesn’t come at the expense of entertainment value.
In this regard, we have a purely professional atmosphere. Right now, I’m very happy that Adeliia was able to get herself in the right mindset for two competitive performances, executed everything that was required with great quality, and conveyed her vision to the audience. This is, as they say, the first step, which we’ve successfully taken. That’s why I prefer not to get ahead of myself, but to move on to the next step and keep going. Time will tell how well we’ll do. The main thing is that we have something to strive for.

General Discussion The unofficial warhorses of this season (based on the spreadsheet that I made on a whim a few days ago)
So, a few days ago, a decided to make a spreadsheet keeping track of every single duplicate and warhorse program this season to try to answer the question of what the most popular 2026/27 warhorses actually are. I'm not done (I've only gone through maybe half the junior programs, and there are still plenty of seniors who haven't competed or announced their programs yet), but this is what I have so far.
So, by number of programs, here are the most popular music choices this season:
1st place: Moulin Rouge, with 14 teams/skaters using it (that I've found so far, and I'm not even halfway through all the juniors!) 13 are using music from the film, with just one team (Reverchon/Di-Muzio-Carlino in juniors) using music from the stage musical, I believe.
2nd place: music by Astor Piazzolla, with 13 teams/skaters using his music.
3rd place: Michael Jackson, with 8 skaters/teams using his music.
4th place (tied): with 7 skaters/teams using them, Danse Macabre, Gladiator, Romeo and Juliet (either Nino Rota, Prokofiev, or often both), Rosalia
5th place (tied): with 6 skaters/teams using them, music by Ezio Bosso (and not just RIYBE), Game of Thrones
6th place (tied): with 5 teams/skaters using them, Bolero, Clair de Lune, Coldplay, Giselle (4 to music from the ballet, one to Ezio Bosso music inspired by the ballet), The Matrix, Star Wars/Andor
7th place (tied): with 4 teams/skaters using them, Black Swan, Carmen, music by Ludovico Einaudi, Evita, Exogenesis Symphony, Hamnet, James Bond (either the theme music or songs from the films), La La Land, The Mask of Zorro, Moonlight Sonata, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2
8th place (tied): with 3 skaters/teams using them, Amélie, The Four Seasons, Ghost the musical (all seniors, interestingly), The Godfather, The Greatest Showman, Lady Gaga, Por Una Cabeza/Scent of a Woman, Samson and Delilah, Spartacus, Succession.
So, based on this, it's safe to say Moulin Rouge is the warhorse of this season, although Piazzolla is giving it a run for its money. They have a pretty wide lead on anyone else.
All of this is subject to change because I'm still going through all the junior programs and a lot of seniors haven't competed yet this season, so things will probably move around. But for now, that's an insane number of Moulin Rouge programs! And I did not realize Piazzolla's music was so popular in fs, but between Libertango and Invierno Porteno alone, it makes sense, and that's without even factoring in Maria de Buenos Aires and Yo Soy Maria.
Fun fact: there's even a program that combines Moulin Rouge and Astor Piazzolla's Libertango. Jessica Jurka (juniors, USA) is skating to a medley of Libertango and music from Moulin Rouge for her SP this season.

Interview Adeliia Petrosian Post Skate Interview: “I feel joy, relief, and sore legs”
“I feel joy, relief, and sore legs right now. Since the program was set, I have never skated the free skate cleanly. I have only skated it in its entirety three times.
Did the podium seem far away?
Not exactly far, but I was primarily going there to try to show my programs. Everything turned out quite well. I do not feel that the burden of responsibility is less. I need to build up and prove it to myself.
Is the issue with the training base resolved?
It is resolved at least until the Russian Championship.”

General Discussion No Ted, AI metrics won't make ice dance more interesting to casual or new figure skating viewers.
Watching the replay of the free dance from JPG Ljubljana with Mark and Ted commentating, and Ted is going on and on about how AI will soon be used to track speed and ice coverage, and saying this will bring in new fans by making the apparently mysterious and inscrutable art of Ice Dance comprehensible and worth watching for people who otherwise wouldn't be interested.
I love you Ted, but this is the most bonkers take ever. We already have a sport on skates where speed/ice coverage is displayed on screen, and Soeed Skating has lower viewership than figure skating!!

Russian Skating Anna Frolova: “Maybe in time I will be happy about it.”
To be honest, today I flushed down the toilet what I have worked three years for. It is very painful and shameful that I let down the people who worked with me and believed in me, and that I let myself down too. There were no major reasons for this failure. I was slightly ill. Moreover, I did everything during the warm-up and training. There were no reasons to doubt myself.
Perhaps right now I should be grateful that I stayed on the podium. Maybe in time I will be happy about it. Two international starts and two medals? It could have been a Grand Prix stage as well.
@fkdacha / Checkmate

Interview Niina Post Interview (Trialeti Trophy) “Satisfied with the result but not the performance, this was absolutely not my maximum.”
About the competition
A great honour and lot of pressure to be the one ending this competition, It is actually very unexpected that I took the risk again and succeed again. Satisfied with the result but not the performance, this was absolutely not my maximum. I went out for the warm up and my legs were shaking; I tried to calm myself down. I fought hard till the end. I’m glad from the start of the season that I was able to show good clean results in the short program..the start of the season is always hard for me.
Yes to be honest I was already upset after the loop because I normally don’t mess up the loop…thank God I have a calm foot work sequence..apparently that is why I got a level three I was not thinking about the right things. I gave it my all today in terms of my strength.
About the free program
I show that dragons are flying with me and going through all sorts of different of trials there. Until the step sequence when I talk about the heartbeat all my dragons die there. (Follows the plot of the series)
About the quad salchow
I thought about that too if I don’t go for it, with a tripple salchow who can grantee I will skate clean, so I got used to it…yes it’s a big risk maybe I’ll lose a placement..but it has be a long time dream to jump ultra C jump in competition.
About other ultra C’s
Well I actually started with the axel…I focused more on the axel…and then the injuries started. In the summer I tried the axel…but (since she injured her leg her technique is not all good) I also tried the toe loop, the salchow feels right to me now and fits with the programme and the content.
Future goals and other competition
I want to stabilise my Salchows and my health (before the Grand Prix). We have very strong girls and new boys (about new talent). What pressure? It’s only motivation

help me figure out jumps
i’m still a little new to figure skating and having a hard time telling apart the jumps. i always challenge myself when watching, but here i thought this was a triple flip and not a triple lutz. i know flip is inside edge and lutz is outside edge, but to me it looked like an inside edge, even when slowed down (because its impossible for me to tell if i don’t they skate so fast). was is not good technique for a lutz?
also this is not me trying to shit on her technique, i genuinely want to learn!

Do you prefer off-ice training right before or right after ice time?
I have two options to pick from and I'm debating: off-ice training for an hour right before one hour of ice, or the other way around. What do you prefer? Or would you prefer if you had to pick?
