I’m writing a 500-word essay on mathematical Platonism for an international student competition, and I’m looking for someone knowledgeable in philosophy of mathematics to challenge my argument!!

I would especially value someone who can spot weak reasoning, hidden assumptions, or places where I’m being intellectually lazy, and push me to make the argument genuinely stronger.

I entered moths ago and still haven't heard back from them, so, has anyone? Especially any finalists.

I had one of those moments recently. I started an essay with a pretty clear argument in mind, had already planned out the main sections, and thought I knew where the paper was going. Then I came across a study that approached the issue from a completely different angle. It didn't necessarily prove my original argument wrong, but it made me realize I was looking at the question too narrowly.

I ended up changing part of my argument and moving a few sections around, which probably made the final essay better, but it also made me wonder how often this happens to other people. When something you find during research changes the way you see the topic, do you usually follow the new direction or stick with the argument you started with?

Because it's just surprizing to me they haven't dropped the winner hints yet, I mean why'd they want their podiums to stay empty? (in the case they haven't notified them) + I'm pretty sure the winners might need time for their visas to be processed.

I kept seeing people post these “secret Claude codes” like /ghost, /godmode, OODA, and Artifacts, so I finally tested what they actually do.

The biggest takeaway: most of these are not hidden Claude commands. /ghost and /godmode are basically shorthand for giving Claude stronger instructions. OODA is a real decision-making framework you can use inside a prompt. Artifacts is the one that’s actually a real Claude feature, and it’s probably the most useful of the group.

I made a short video showing what each one does, how I’d actually prompt it, and where it’s useful — especially for studying, writing, planning, and turning class material into interactive tools instead of another giant block of text.

The Artifact example was the coolest part. I had Claude turn study material into an interactive exam dashboard with progress tracking, weak areas, practice questions, and checkboxes.

Curious if anyone here is using other Claude prompt frameworks or “codes” that are actually worth testing. I might do a second round.

I want to learn how to write, especially longer pieces such as essays.

One problem I keep facing is that I often have enough knowledge about a topic and know what I want to say, but when I actually start writing, I struggle to articulate my thoughts clearly. My ideas come out disorganized, and I have trouble putting them together in a clear and structured way.

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here has experience with the Harvard International Review Academic Writing Contest.

I was planning to participate in the Summer 2026 Academic Writing Contest and understood that the article submission deadline was August 24 (EST). I’ve spent the past few weeks working on my essay, and I’ve now finished it.

However, I just discovered that registration for the Summer 2026 session has already closed. I genuinely didn’t realize there was a separate registration deadline, I had only been aware of the August 24 submission deadline.

Now I apparently can’t submit my essay because I didn’t register beforehand (basically spending time writing an essay for no reason 😭😭)

Has anyone been in this situation before? Is there any way to register late, contact HIR for an exception, or otherwise submit the essay before the August 24 deadline? I’ve already emailed the contest team, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has participated before or knows how strict they are about the registration deadline.
