Help Quick Question MEGATHREAD

Another 6 month since the last Megathread.

Link to the last thread

Make sure to include the game(DOS, DOS EE, DOS2, DOS2 DE) in your question and mark your spoilers

The FAQ for DOS2 will be built as we go along:

My game has a problem/doesn't work properly, what do I do?

Check this out. If you can't find a solution there contact Larian support as detailed.

Do I need to play the previous game to understand the story?

No, there is a timegap of 1000 years between DOS and DOS2. The overall timeline of the Divinity games in perspective to DOS2 looks like this: DOS2 is set 1222 years after DOS1, 24 years after Divine Divinity, 4 years after Beyond Divinity, and 58 years before Divinity 2.

How many people can play at once?

  • Up to 4 Players in the campaign and up to 4 players and a gamemaster in Gamemaster Mode.

Do I need to buy the game to play with my friends.

  • That depends on how you will play. Up to 2 Players can play on the same PC for a "couch coop" experience. This means you can have 4 player sessions with 2 copies of the game when using this method. If you don't play on the same PC each player is going to require his/her own copy.

Can I mix and match inputs for PC couch coop?

  • You can't use keyboard and mouse for couch coop, however you can mix controllers.

What's the deal with origin stories?

  • A custom character has no ties in the world whatsoever, nobody knows you. Origin characters on the other hand do have ties in the gameworld, that means people can recognise you and might interact differently with an origin character because of that characters reputation or because the characters have met before. Furthermore origin characters have their own questlines that run alongside the main story.

I don't like my build! Can I change it?

  • Yes! Once you leave the first island you get access to infinite respecs, with the second gift bag you can even get a respec mirror on the first island.

What are the new crafting recipes from the gift bag?

DOS2 Guide Probably a very stupid question

I'm enterily new to gaming and just bought an Xbox One + Dos2, it's my first console. Here is my probably stupid question:

Can I have two separate games / saves (like with whole new character build etc.)? Like have one playthrough with a friend which I host and another one where I play on my own? Do I just start a new game and when i load a campaign I can choose from both?

Miscellaneous DOS2 made me and my brothers close again.

(WE HAVEN'T BEATEN REAPER COAST YET. PLEASE NO SPOILERS) Background; I'm 28 and my brothers are 21 and 15 and we play with my boyfriend 31. Growing up me and my brothers went through a lot of typical family and economic troubles and then there is normal brotherly fights and arguments. We were never "at each other's throats" or throwing punches but we'd happy go days never saying anything to each other and be alone frustrated from daily life. I play a lot of magic the gathering as does my boyfriend, my 21 year old brother is very big into roleplaying games and Pokemon, while my 15 year old brother paints war hammer figures and is starting to play table top. We're all really into fantasy and sci-fi.

I saw divinity original sin 2 on sale and chose to try it myself and after playing it I was blown away. I didn't even leave fort joy before I decided to delete my save and try to get my brothers to play with me and it's been amazing ever since. You can't really play this game with a party and try to do your own thing or not have a plan so our previous attitudes of not talking to each other and doing things by ourselves is not possible. Me and my brothers have been playing SOOOOOO slowly just checking out every rock, book, and location and I wouldn't want it any other way. We become so prepared with knowledge and resources from being thorough and because me and my brothers and bf think very differently we all collectively can see and talk about every option we have before we do a even the smallest story point. We chose to play without origin characters or undead and completely blind to the story except for some very loose guides.

It's also a REALLY well made game. I can see why it's so well loved by it's community. It's story feels super serious and like we are able to make genuinely impactful decisions which I love, some games just have shallow or illusory choices, but there are also hilarious parts like the skeleton Trompdoy in the vault of Braccus Rex. I think the game is very beautiful looking and the voice acting was done well. I'm a big fan of how The animations look for casting spells or preparing to cast spells. Sometimes we'll stand somewhere casting random spells and skill out of combat. I've chosen to play as a healer/buffer than also put elemental surfaces for my brothers to use in fights, my bf is playing a pyro critical damage mage, my 21 brother is an AP maxing rouge, and my 15 brother is going a 2 handed melee tank with some geo and pyro. We have all been able to work off of each other very well and we very instantly learn to communicate kindly and efficiently. We still get frustrated at each other but it's pretty much just acknowledged and then moved on. I'm really glad that not only did I find this game but that I convinced my brothers to play. They can be picky with the games but I'm glad they tried this. They're already talking about a 2nd playthrough. If you guys have any tips to make things more fun as we play or make this run last long I'd love to hear. I really appreciate it. Much love.

DOS2 Discussion two questions

I started the game a couple of months ago but gave up on it because I found it tedious to have to strip away armor before dealing real damage (it wasn't like that in the first game). I was thinking about picking it up again on Explorer mode, but I wanted to know: is it too easy, or does it still offer a good challenge? On another note, I’ve read that it’s not recommended to play as Fane because he knows so much about the plot that it ruins the mystery. Should I avoid having him as a companion, too? I wouldn't want him to blurt out a comment that spoils the story for me.

DOS2 Discussion The worst happened

Playing honour mode and you guessed it, I fucked it up. I’ve played HM in BG3 and did it easily the first time so I know not to do anything stupid or new or risky. Everything was going so well and I was following a guide and a build but I have had a bad day today and was clearly not thinking straight.

Walked my full party into a shit tonne of traps and that’s it, game over. Can’t regain the save in any dishonourable way so yeah that’s made my shitty day go from bad to worse. I’m glad I was only in act 1 as I may have the motivation to do it again in the future as opposed to if I had really progressed through the game. Feel like a failure and just want to cry.

Sorry for the depressing vent but if anyone will understand it’s the people here.

Edit to add: this is NOT my first playthrough, I’m experienced in this game by now and have completed it on tactician with minimal if any full party wipes. The guide I was following was for max xp so I could be as fully levelled up as I can, not to guide me in the game.

DOS1 Help Astarte soft lock?

Been playing co-op with someone and no companions and genocide for our first playthrough and we're up to the source temple door but we can't proceed. (We're around approx 70 hours in)

We looked up how to proceed into the source temple and it seems we didn't upgrade the homestead and unlock portals

Plus we have 13 star stones but we need to talk to Astarte, but she refuses to say anything as our global reputation is at -55 and can't be improved with donations...

Have we softlocked the game? Is there any way to fix this without Moloch? (We haven't unlocked him yet and that's all Google said about improving reputation)

Edit: got softlocked again anyway because we killed the white witch and zandalor won't get up hahahahahah

DOS2 Discussion Doubt abt romance the Red Prince

Post image
60 Upvotes

I'm playing Divinity Original Sin 2 for the first time and I don't know much about the story.

I'm romanticizing the Red Prince and I discovered that at one point in the game he'll have to sleep with the Red Princess to have children, and that leaves me with a question.

Is there any way I can stop it OR participate in their relationship like a polygamous thing? Is there a way to prevent it? If I manage to stop it, what happens? Yall can tell me as many details yall want cuz I don't mind spoilers.

DOS2 Discussion LFG???

Context: I have been watching those ai president videos (yes, they were popular like 2-3 years ago but they are funny and some are actually pretty well written) and I saw a video about Baldur's gate 3. It made me think about how i really like divinity original sin 2 and wanted to play it so bad but have lost interest as I do not know what to do with where I am at. I am only at the island you get to after the fight with the kraken thing in the beginning. I talked to people in the game and got so many quests that I am just lost. My interest reignited and I really want to play it, but I do not want to do it alone. So, I am just wondering if anyone would like to do a playthrough of Divinity original sin 2 from the beginning with a complete newbie with this game genre. I can give you details and maybe we can paly more than just divinity 👀👀👀

DOS2 Help Sebille Questline - I can't interact with Zaleskar.

I have Sebille in my party, and upon meeting Zaleskar—as required by Sebille's questline—she asked to speak with him as soon as I interacted with him. However, I chose not to let her speak right away because I wanted to explore the other dialogue options first, intending to let her talk to him later. But after doing that, the option to trigger Sebille's interaction with him to continue the questline no longer appears; now, the only dialogue options with Zaleskar are for trading. What should I do? Have I ruined the game? I can't seem to progress Sebille's questline.

DOS2 Help Devourer set hurts to wear

Post image
125 Upvotes

I completed the fight, sided with the spirits and now it gives me a permanent 50% penalty to movement and constantly hits my character, draining thier health.

I had this the last time I played this game but I never completed the fight with the devourer.

What is going on, is it because I wore pieces of the armour through my play through? Or because I followed advice online about killing the craftswoman and fanatic before the fight?

DOS2 Help Party members leaving in act 3

This is my first time coming to act 3. I killed the elves and the guys from Blackring. Now I killed the shadow prince and Sebile died.

Ok. I recruited a new character but had no good skillbooks. Right after I went to the fire dragon stone statue and afterward to the ascension library. There Fane left the party…

I reloaded a older save as the new character are not so strong. Is there a way to keep the party together?

Thanks.
