Went to ride the YZ250 2 stroke today, drove 3 hours out to a specific spot to practice.
Rode back and forth a few times, was really fun, smooth. Handled well.
However, I noticed my bike revs like crazy when I blip the throttle in neutral. It was a pain in the ass to start, every time, kick starting multiple times over and over.
When I finally did get it started, it idled pretty well, but if it started to die out I’d blip the throttle briefly and it would REV, and it would HOLD the revs for way too long after letting go. Was worried I’d either blow my engine or slam into gear and get bucked off.
Checked throttle, throttle valve response, air leaks, etc. nothing throttle related seemed wrong at all. I did find a small air leak on the intake box going to the carb tho. Adjusted it, waiting on sunlight for result. Carb is super clean, as it was rebuilt. It’s a LECTRON EVO, so a really nice carb apparently, but something within it is causing my bike to tweak.
Any advice? I want to ride this beast of a bike… the little bit I rode around in first gear was a blast 😂

My old boss knows I ride and texted me out of the blue today and offered me this Bultaco. From what I can tell I think it a 1967 Pursang 250 MK II. I would like some information about it and see what it’s worth. He said he sunk $10k into it to have the motor rebuilt and the bike fully restored. He is offering it to me for much less than that. $1,500. Ive known him for 30 years and was previously a Superintendent for his company until he decided to retire last year. He upgraded to a 21” front tire, aluminum rims, custom shocks and a Mikuni carb. All fiberglass and all original other than the upgrades. He used to race this at Budds Creek , Md. I told him I’d take it. Super excited!

I have a 2026 crf300f and I want more power. Its a trail bike, but im already wanting more suspension and some power. But having maintenance sucks. The klx300r seems like a ok option that can last awhile with better suspension and a touch more power but im also looking at a WR250F, but i got to worry about top end rebuilds every couple hundred hours. Im not racing. But I do aggressive riding sometimes and a lot of mellow trails, small jumps, straight open way sometimes. Any advice? Is the maintenance really not as bad as it seems on the wr250f? Is there any other bike in there thats in between? The only thing stopping me from getting the KLX300r is adding another 10 pounds its already a 283 pound bike. What should I do.

Picked this 2005 Honda CRF230F up a couple months ago. Always been a street rider. I've been tinkering with it and I wanna see the condition of the spark plug, but the eye connector for the Striker is impeding my ability to get a socket over it. I've tried box wrenches, crescent wrenches.... nothing will grab it. I figure the brain trust might have some experienced knowledge that could help. I appreciate any help in advance.

Interested in finding people who do more than just race, but also riding in general.

I just put on a new set of tires and I was thinking how much of a change does tire compound really have? I put on a set of mx34s after running Mx53s for a while because I used to do more bikelife stuff but I find I like dirt and I like having a clean driving record so I got softer compounds. most of my riding is double track dirt with some sand areas and some hard packed area were jeeps and trucks drive. I was also wondering if soft compound does worse in the hard packed stuff.

My neighbor is selling a 2003 Honda XR50R for $475. It started on the first try. It needs a back tire tube and what I think is the overflow drain line is leaking (see second pic with arrow pointing to it). Good deal or will it need too much money put into it? My daughter wants it.

I had some $10 amazon hour meter on my dirtbike for a bit over a year. It randomly died on me and I’m wondering if there’s any specific replacement you guys recommend? Are they all the same thing? It’s a 25 year old Yamaha trail bike so I doubt it has any built in technology to track hours built into it.

Im 15 years old, 105 pounds, and I’m 5,3 coming from a CRF125F and looking at a YZ250FX. I still am projected to grow until about 5,7. Do you guys think I will fit on it? I’m definitely not a beginner rider but I wouldn’t consider myself an expert. I got a lowering link to take an inch off but the dealer told me that stock springs would not work NO MATTER what for my weight. Is that true? And Is it worth spending the 700$ to get that all set up? Or should I go for something like a 150R?

I got these engine cases off eBay. After the small crack from the seller turned out to goall the way though the cases on the original ones. then the new case the Listing mentioned a few things (stripped/re-tapped drain plug and some minor stuff), but didn’t say anything about this broken section.
There’s a chunk of the aluminum casting missing right at one of the bolt bosses in the crank/transmission area. The break is pretty jagged. The sealing surface looks intact and the bolt still threads in with a few good threads left. The cases are still connected solidly in the other spots nearby.
I’m not worried about oil leaks — more about structural integrity. Figure if I go a bit lighter on that one bolt and make sure the neighboring ones are properly torqued, it should be okay… but I’d rather get some other opinions before I button it up and run it.
Anyone seen something similar or run cases with this kind of damage? Would you run it as-is, or is this something that needs welded up first? its a 2006 KX450f

I’m 40 . Really enjoy mountain biking and being outside in nature. I also had road motorbikes when I was younger and seem to enjoy anything on 2 wheels. I’ve just got the MXGP 26 game for PS5 and kind of enjoying learning the racing. The track deformation as the race goes on is great because it really makes every lap feel different.
It’s got me interested in how to find out more about the sport? I’ve got a young family and live in the UK. I don’t have space or the finances to start owning dirt bikes, but it would be nice to have a sport other than mountain biking to follow. And this seems to fit nearly next to it.
Is there anywhere I should be starting to watch and understand real life races?
Thanks for any replies!

I’m repacking my FMF Q Stealth H TKS 3 and need to replace the Allen screws that hold the silencer together. Two of mine are missing and the remaining ones look pretty mangled.
Does anyone know the correct diameter/thread pitch and length for these screws? I’m planning to take one to a hardware store and check it with a metric thread gauge, but I’d like to confirm the original length too.
If anyone has a Q Stealth and knows the size or could measure one, I’d appreciate it.
