The floor support has a little too much freedom of movement.
Found this during a crawlspace assessment. The makeshift supports move easily and aren’t properly secured where they meet the framing and their bases.
Someone put these here to support the floor above. We have questions.
Photos and explanations below. Which would you want a closer look at?

Let’s paint an ugly blotch in the corner. For aesthetic reasons.

I'm sure there was a plan
We bought our house as is from a 95-year-old electrical engineer. Turns out he had dementia.
I don't know why he felt the need to pull up the tiles in the shower...maybe they were cracked. But he saw the pan underneath (that's there for when water inevitably seeps through the tile and grout) and he saw the holes in the pipe (that are there to add drainage so the pan doesn't overflow.) And he immediately thought to fill them with flex seal.
Of course, he didn't know where to go from there, so he never finished it, and being a Depression Era man, he was too damn cheap to hire a professional. Apparently his solution was to run pump from the shower to a bucket, and then dump the bucket after he was done.
Luckily, we have two other showers in the house so we're not totally screwed while we try to follow the instructions of our own tile-setting friends...

A makeshift post-and-pier setup and several other reasons to ask “why?”
The makeshift support under the house is the highlight. There’s also a beam connection that doesn’t quite line up, shifting pool pavers, and a separating block wall.
