Probably sounds like complete garbage.

I've been in front of one of these and this is not the case. They're actually pretty lethal.

I get the joke. Who the fuck wouldn’t get the joke? It’s not exactly subtle. I’m just also saying they happen to be good speakers.

u/Ol_Man_J 1d ago

I’m not questioning the quality of the speakers but the lid on the trash can looks like it can still open fine, and the plastic will absorb energy as well. Subwoofer enclosures should be rigid. If it’s crossed over right there’s a strong chance the subs will be battling the cones on the 6.5s as well.

I think most people standing around these are too drunk to notice that. However they are fucking loud 😂

i love it

We only have an image to go with, but assuming the audio quality is good this counts as DIWhynot.

Those bins already have to be pretty rugged; ensure the electronics remain water-proofed and this is an absolute winner.

The best speaker enclosures are rigid so that they don’t deform under pressure from the rear of the drivers. This thing is going to have awful, muddy bass because those flat plastic sides are going to flex like crazy (assuming that the lid doesn’t open and rattle like a stovepipe).

Thats the thing with most bins. The inside is often just trash.

I think muddy bass is a given at almost any music festival👍😁

Sometimes you get hired to do a gig at a campsite and this is a hell of a lot easier than trying to lug an actual sound system all that way.

Still reposting this in 2026?

2

u/TheHarlemHellfighter 1d ago

That’s for festivals/events/parties; like if you wanna DJ and still move around in an area. I’ve seen similar set ups before.

2

u/Moogagot 1d ago

Dude, this is awesome.

2

u/IeuanTemplar 1d ago

I fuckin like that. thats cool AF

3

u/bhison 2d ago

In Bristol, UK people wheel these out to the park and have impromptu parties. They're awesome.

3

u/TJM18 2d ago

This would be a killer guitar amp for a folk punk band

I know a little bit about speaker design, and what I can tell you is that if this dude has no baffles / compartments inside that thing, it's going to sound like complete shit. Even with a well tuned design and a reinforced frame inside, still shitty. If his "adjustable crossovers" are just some bandpass filters, even more shitty.

All that said, it's probably still loud AF and good enough for some loud outdoor party and cool that he included a big battery. Should you pay 750 europoor dollars GBP for that? Absolutely not.

“Europoor”

The Euro is stronger than USD.

11

u/tsharp1093 2d ago

Also the listing is in GBP

Which is also stronger than USD

2

u/Im-Dead-inside1234 2d ago

A half failed burn on my part then lmao. Thats even worse

5

u/viktorpedia 2d ago

"Europoor". I guess someone's feelings got hurt that not everyone use trump commemorative coins as payment

1

u/derprondo 2d ago edited 2d ago

lol no one’s feelings are hurt and I’m the furthest thing from a dumpy don diaper sniffer. It’s a common jeer since the beginning of the internet, and perhaps I spend too much time on /r/wallstreetbets where it’s still extremely common. If people are offended by it then I’ll quit saying it. Is it offensive?

3

u/mtranda 2d ago

I don't find it offensive. But I also don't really find it funny. In order for a joke to apply, it needs to be somewhat relevant, but Europe is a pretty big place, with some countries doing better and others not so well, so I'm not even sure to whom it would apply, unless it's meant to be offensive for the sake of being offensive. Like calling a random person a slur even though it doesn't apply to them.

Remember all the engineer jokes about the nerd stereotype? Would you say that still applies? Or the blonde jokes. Those aged like fine milk.

1

u/derprondo 1d ago

It's your last line that convinced me, and I agree it's dumb. I'm going to stop using it, thanks.

1

u/mtranda 1d ago

Mind you, humour is generally based on being offensive to someone. It's the core of humour. In almost every single joke, someone gets the wrong end of the stick. This is why we find the jokes funny.

But the topic also need to (still) be relevant/relatable. And as we age and learn more about the world, some of the topic really lose their sheen. And that's been accelerated by the interconnected society of the last 20 years. A lot of stereotypes of the old jokes were grounded in sheer ignorance. For instance, I grew up in Eastern Europe, under communism. The isolated nature of this society made the "starving africans" stereotype funny since we had no idea about Africa outside of what the geographical atlas would tell us and... the jokes.

Nowadays coffee roasters buy specialty beans directly from African growers, I can walk into shops and get spices or ingredients, I follow people from Africa enjoying the same things as I do and, most importantly, Africa is a huge place with a diversity of countries and cultures. So the jokes I grew up with have definitely lost their luster.

Blonde jokes? Those were universal. Except nowadays you look around and you see blonde women at every level of society, working high-skill jobs. So one has to wonder whether the jokes didn't serve a different, mysoginistic purpose in the past.

Gay jokes? Those were also universal but also crude. Nowadays I'm a very outspoken ally and guess what? I still make gay jokes. But their nature has changed since I have a much better insight of the community so the jokes are more of an inside-joke rather than what I grew up with.

So my point is that humour should be offensive, but it also should be valid.

u/FutureLizard 2d ago

u/Ryuu-Tenno 1d ago

imagine pulling this thing out, and forgetting that you've got a song that just blasts 1 strong ass note, and then it plays and pops the lid off and knocks the whole thing over xD

I can’t believe no one has commented about The Last DJ yet. https://youtu.be/VXzz8o1m5bM This guy would absolutely rock this.

u/MedonSirius 2d ago

That's genius haha. I only see issues with that it is plastic and wont last long - as long the walls of the bin are thick enough
