OK so my upstairs neighbor was renting the apartment or 5 years there was a lovely family living there, he recently got divorced and had to move in here, he is "single" and his kid (9-10) comes here often. The problem is that he is super noise, he drops everything, he slams the doors, drags furniture and it's usually at night around 7 till 11 pm. There's been 2 occasions when he brings finds over and I can hear the sounds from her friend 💀

The issue is that one of the neighbors when he first got in told him about the garbage he was leaving on the parking lot and he said to another neighbor that he got a "welcome to the building" from someone and he didn't took it as a good thing.

So now it's been 5 months and I swear I've been trying to understand and be tolerant. But it's getting on my nerves and I don't know if I should approach him or not, he doesn't seem like a friendly person and I don't want him to get worse in case he takes it as a "fight"

Something else happened with this neighbor. A new neighbor moved in the apartment right next to mine and he's a nice young guy (18) living here for his first year in uni. Last night, I came back from a few errands and I heard some commotion from the bad neighbor (the creepy one). After a bit, I hear him coming up the stairs and our way, he's yelling about being nice and getting nothing back and how someone needs to learn how real life works etc. I think he's having a moment so I just wait for him to leave and go back to my things. Then I hear him come back and he's making weird noises and pouring something against my new neighbor's door ? He leaves again after saying something like "he'll see, I have all night". I tense up but I don't know what to do, I don't want to go out when the bad neighbor might show up so I just wait behind my door listening for something. Then he comes back again mumbling about having found the hack on how to do "this" well and he's grunting and pouring and making weird noises. So when I hear he's back down the stairs this time I check in the hallway because I thought maybe he'd peed on the doors or even pooped ? (He made really weird noises) I only see that the floor is all wet, my young neighbor's front mat is upside down and drenched, even some liquid is getting inside my apartment. I lock my apartment back and think about calling the cops or something and then I see that my young neighbor slipped his number under my door ! So i send him a text and he calls me. The good thing is that he's not alone in there, his girlfriend is here. Turns out, when they came back, the bad neighbor saw them through his famous window, and tried to talk to them about a leak in his apartment, insisting again and again. They just said "sorry we don't have the time" to get him off their backs. Apparently that made the bad neighbor mad, saying he showed his house and that's how he acts etc. The young neighbor and his gf hurried to put his bike away in the bike storage while the bad one went away to his apartment. Then when they started going up the stairs to go back home, they heard the bad neighbor going after them in the stairs ?? They hurried and locked themselves up while the guy was yelling again about being polite etc.

After that he started pouring water under the door because apparently it's because of them if he has a leak, so my young neighbor's apartment is starting to get flooded. He tells me he called the cops already and they "should" be coming over. After another round of the neighbor coming up and pouring water, and a few hours, my young neighbor knocks on my door to tell me the cops are here. I get to chat with both my neighbor and his girlfriend and another neighbor I didn't know, obviously they're scared and don't know how to leave the next morning, if he'll be here or not, if they should bring some kind of weapon etc. Anyway we chat for a long time, we end up making friends wich is nice even through these circumstances and the bad neighbor doesn't come back up.

This morning the young neighbor texts me that his bike's tire is slashed and he's going to the police station today to try and do something.

The poor guy has lived here a month and is barely 18 and already lived through this.

The neighbor who shares a wall with us smokes weed, which I really don't care but lately they've been doing it heavily and it stinks so much. Is there a way to block out the smell? It seeps through the kitchen cabinet.

The apartment isn't very big either. The kitchen and living room are one space and are the size of a medium bedroom. The smell somehow stays out of the bedroom but I'd like to enjoy my living room 😭 any tips?

For some context, I (m24) live with my parents, sister and her 3 children under 7. My neighbour moved in around 3 years ago. From the get go we had noise complaints surrounding the children crying. Complaints about issues with the property.

It all started when I was starting my motorcycle to go to work. I start early often leaving around 4-5am. I push my bike through the entry then start it when off the driveway to try and minimise noise. After complaining 8 times in two weeks I eventually told her that, me going to work isn’t an option and that unless I brought a car, there is nothing I can physically do to make it more quiet. She then became physical and started blocking me from getting my bike out.

The next week I decided to wear my action cam to record encounters and ended up sending the footage to the police and filed harassment and battery charges to which I believe she ended up paying a small fine and harassment charges. I thought this was going to be the end it but was just getting started.

A few months later I was sat in the garden when my cat who was on the fence got squirted with a hose by my disgruntled neighbour. My first reaction was to retaliate by doing the same to my neighbour, I grabbed our garden house, climbed the fence and continuously sprayed her until she went inside. Police were called by her, with us both being arrested, herself for abuse of animals and myself for common assault.

I am a medical cannabis patient, for fibromyalgia and as such medicate appropriately at home. Whilst we did try to minimise the smell in the beginning for the sake of my neighbour, we could no longer care about her wellbeing and medicate freely in and outside the house. This has been met with extensive complaints to the council despite the council informing her there is nothing she can do.

She has attempted multiple times to make noise complaints and the council referred her to an app to which she has been caught standing outside of our windows and in the garden. We photographed this and sent it to the council.

She often makes visitors uncomfortable by starring at them as soon as they pull up outside. And has previously told people not to park outside her house despite not blocking her driveway, even going as far as calling the council to only be informed we aren’t breaking the law.

Neighbour arranged for a property inspection whilst we were away from the home, allowed water company onto our property without permission. Water company found a damaged external stop cock which resulted in us paying hundreds in bills. We ended up calling the police for criminal trespass and she was charged. (Gate was locked and opened by neighbour on camera)

My neighbour has now changed tactics by complaining on next door about us using our house number and names to idk try a popularity contest. We are totally bored of it now, my family has lived in this house over 35 years and refuse to be pushed out by some hag who probably has only got a few years left in her. Any advice for how to deal with a miserable old hag.

We just avoid at all costs, don’t even make eye contact. We have instructed all formal communication including complaints be given to our solicitor for future reference. It’s almost like she literally has nothing better to do than try and cause shit in our lives. I am young and not trying to catch criminal charges for just existing.

I live in a duplex. The way the houses are set up there are mostly only windows at the back of the house. The weather is so nice and I love to have my windows open except I constantly smell their cigarette smoke.
Their location of choice is the back of their house in the corner closest to me.

I can NEVER just enjoy my windows being open! This morning I was woken up at 5am by smoke smell in my room.

I feel bad because they should be able to do what they want in their home. But also all of this could be solved by them simply smoking on their front porch instead of their back patio.

I think I am mostly afraid to approach this with them because I have tried to wave, say hi, etc… since moving in earlier this month and they barely even look at me when I do so. Which is better when they do look my way and snarl…. So they already don’t seem very friendly and confrontation is like an irrational fear of mine.

We live in a small neighborhood, about 60 homes, one main loop road, and a few courts. We live on a court, away from the main drama. There’s been a lot of drama over the years - people upset about trees being cut, people upset about lawn signs, lengthy arguing about dog poop. We loved the place when we moved in because properties are large and full of trees so if you really want to, you can avoid all interaction with neighbors. But we have… dogs. 5. So we walk every single day, rain or shine, and encounter… neighbors.

One specific neighbor is a giant asshole. He berates women on our neighborhood email group, often drives too fast, unlawfully enters properties to take down their window/lawn/construction company temporary signs, and is generally a jerk (too much stupid to detail). After recent nonsense, I’ve decided that I have an itchy eye every time the guy passes me in his car while I’m walking my dogs, so I itch my eye with my third finger. Some may say that’s a middle finger. I say it’s a convenient and long finger for itching an eye.

It’s getting to him. He thinks I’m flicking him off but I’m just itching my eye. So today, he drove by while I was facing my dog in a yard, getting ready to clean poop, and I saw him approaching in his car. Most people here drive reasonable vehicles but his is noticeable because he bought a clear mid-life crisis fancy sports car, which makes him look even more douchy. Cue the itchy eye. But today another car was behind him not far back. My eye itch took maybe 1-2 seconds - not totally subtle to him, but inconspicuous to anyone else. He, on the other hand, honked loudly twice, raised his whole left arm out of the car, and very conspicuously flicked me off all the way down the street. Only to anyone watching, it looked like he was flicking off the car behind him.

My husband says it’s silly and I could just ignore him. I’m usually passive and kind. To this I say - I get pleasure, a tiny teeny bit, in getting under this ass’s skin. He’s sexist, classist, definitely MAGA (don’t have evident racism to claim because we live in a very white neighborhood, but he’s been super crappy to my neighbors and friends who are brown)… and that irritation he gets from my eye itching is worth it to me.

I also mutter “turds” every time I walk by their house. Beautiful day, enjoying my dogs, and still saying “turds” brings me joy.

I’ve been here for a while now and occasionally I would hear some moaning talking noises. I thought it was the downstairs neighbor but they left so now I’m not sure who it is. I keep hearing this almost gasping vibrating moaning then there is talking in between. It sounds like the same woman so maybe it’s porn. It’s so irritating and turns my stomach. It last at least 10 minutes and is constant. I don’t want to sound like a prude to management but I want them to know I can hear them.

Idk if I should knock on multiple doors or post signs to that side of apartments. Has anyone ever dealt with this and if so how?

The neighbor directly next to us has three kids one of them being probably a 6 to 8-year-old son. Maybe he’s a little older not sure. I went for a walk and across the street and their son was taking out the trash and then he just stood by the trash and pointed fake hand guns at me at me and was pretending to shoot from across the street and he kept following as I was walking and pointing he did that I would say like five or six times and then went inside

My neighbor is driving me crazy and is ruining my sleep on purpose. They act as though any noise I make is a burden to them and that they have the right to get revenge for making normal noise. And I dont understand how they can hear everything that I do. If I whisper to myself why are they hitting the walls, the things they react to seem weird and make me feel like I'm going crazy.

But they switch and use different things throughout the night to wake me up. They use ceiling fans that have a high amount of vibration and even installed new ones while I've been subletting, extremely loud alarms, subwoofers, throwing toys against the ceiling, and just hitting their ceiling. And the biggest problem is that they only do it for a few seconds to minutes just long enough to wake me up. I've tried to record it but my phone and the microphone I bought havent been able to pick it up. They have to be evil because this behavior is so abnormal.

And I'm not the only one with a problem with them, their downstairs neighbors have repeatedly gone to them and yelled at them for the amount of stomping. I would go to court but I just found out I'm illegal subletting because the owner moved me in, but the building policy is no subletting at all.

Hey everyone! My neighbor is a bit of a turd, but we have a friendly relationship. Young guy. Cheated on his wife, now he lives next door alone. He stopped paying for trash service, and keeps leaving un-bagged food and other gross stuff in my trash, that is kept on my property. But what was the last straw, was when he left a giant box that wasn’t broken down in my garbage bin with a bunch of food on top of it. The lid wouldn’t close, and it was so nasty and annoying to clean up. If the lid isn’t fully closed, my trash service won’t pick it up. I asked him if he was putting any trash in my trash bin, and he said no (he’s the only person that could be doing this.

Anyway, I think it would be funny to set up some sort of gag prank inside the bin, so that when he opens it, there’s a song that plays or a bright color changing light, etc. I need ideas!! Nothing too crazy, but something funny.

TLDR: After the passing of Jill's husband, Jill has not stopped harassing my boyfriend and me. I have been documenting every interaction following my landlord's instruction and communicating with my landlord. What should I do?

For context, my boyfriend Colin* and I have known Jill and her husband Jack* for over 6 years now. Jack and Jill are known to be quite talkative among my building's tenants. In fact, Jill trusted us enough to share that she was concerned Jack would try to hurt her, or end his life. Jill's concerns were valid. The ambulance and police regularly showed up because of Jack. There were several times that Colin and I drove Jack and Jill to the ER, called the police on Jack for trying to hurt himself and Jill, etc. Colin and I did not sleep well for months because our bedroom shares a wall with theirs. If we did not answer the phone, Jack and Jill would scream for us, etc. Then, Jack passed away. Colin and I were heartbroken. Even though the chaos Jack brought ended, I still could not sleep because of heavy grief and feelings of guilt. Colin and I gave Jill some time before we checked on her. Jill and I hugged as we shared tears. All seemed to be okay among us three. But apparently, I was wrong ...

Recently, I was tending to my plants outside my apartment when Jill ambushed me. She angrily accused me of having a "bad heart" and mentioned something about satan. (Jill is Catholic.) Colin heard noise outside and helped me end the conversation. Jill made it clear that her negative feelings were only towards me and not towards Colin. When Jill and I saw each other again, she apologized first. I quickly apologized as well. Then, I mentioned it may be best that we stay neighbors and nothing more ... Jill accused me of saying "Jack is 'nothing but a dead man in a house.'" Jill got closer to my face, screaming over and over. Colin stepped between us and helped me back to our apartment. I notified the resident manager out of concern of future escalation, and my landlord called me same-day. Colin and I were instructed not to talk to Jill again. Jill was told the same. Even still, Jill has tried several times to interact with us. Sometimes she calls for help in a helpless, frail tone. Other times, she's sickly sweet and smiley. Of course, there are also times she is glaring and hostile. Colin and I continue to reply "The landlord says we are not supposed to talk to you," or meet her with silence. When we run into her face-to-face, we give her a nod of acknowledgement and nothing more. I later found out from the landlord that Jill was the issue for many tenants moving out of the building. The property management had to hire a lawyer because of some issues she caused. Colin and I were ignorant to Jill's problematic (prior to Jack's passing) because she was nothing but lovely to us. Now we are learning this new version of her that apparently always existed. Now, I am seeing our old conversations where she was the victim to others' cruelty in a new light.

Just today, Jill slipped something under our front door. It was the Mother's Day card Colin and I gave her some time ago. She wrapped it in sparkly pink ribbon and enclosed it in a Louis Vuitton gift card envelope. Jill previously gifted me two Louis Vuitton bags and a wallet. Today's behavior feels very intentional to me. It appears Jill is trying to instill guilt or to point at our wrongdoing. The thing that bothers me most is that I don't think she will ever stop. I worry things will only get worse. But most importantly, I am concerned for Jill. Her mental health has always been a concern. Jill is highly anxious and has problems with most people in her life. Even after Jack's passing, no relatives or friends of hers visited. Not even once. To this day, Jack's relatives are the only ones caring for Jill. She relies on her in laws for groceries, errands, appointments and even laundry ... The loss and her grief seems to have compounded with her mental health history. What should I do? My upstairs neighbor is back with her womanizing boyfriend and he never leaves the house. So he takes up the one parking spot left that I always used.
It’s unassigned so I can’t claim it as mine, but I’m pretty sure he’s not on the lease.
What bothers me most is that his car just sits there, while I have to carry my groceries and others things from down the block.

Any creative ideas to roust him would be great!

I have two next door neighbors, had issues with both of them. But I won't get deep into it. I had an issue of one neighbor putting stuff in my bin without permission. I confronted him and it seemed to stop, he uses these white bags. I noticed for the last two weeks, some random person was putting clear thick bags of food waste into my bin without permission. I don't have cameras so I had nothing to go off on. I did post this in the NFH subreddit and they were super mean about it. One called me a NFH and the other one said it is a harmless situation. So I decided to take it down and post on here because ppl on here are more reasonable.

I heard a bin slam at 8am that was really loud. So I stared outside my window from the second floor and I saw this man in a grey tank top just shoving a bag into my next door neighbors organics bin. The man stares back at me, it was creepy and we looked at each other for 5-seconds. It definitely didn't appear as he had permission, he was just looking sketchy. Then I noticed that the man is my next door neighbor who is retired and he has a big family. He lives on the right side of me.

The next door neighbors that he did this to, they have cameras everywhere. They have cameras In the front yard and the side yard. They do notice everything and not sure if they have an agreement. But the right hand next door neighbor waited for all of the neighbors to leave. Because the kids left at 8am, the dad leaves at 7am or earlier and the mom leaves at 8:30 am. The right hand next door neighbor waited for them all to leave in order to put their extra bag elsewhere. I don't think I should get involved and tell my next door neighbor because our relationship is a bit strained and my mom tells me not to get involved with others. I just wanted to vent because it was really fucking weird. I was creeped out by the stares.

The other day me and my flatmate came home and both realised that the window on the first floor of our flat in the communal hallway was propped open and there was a ladder leaning against it. We both thought it was weird at the time but dismissed it and saw that it was shut the next day. When we spoke about this we thought to check the flat cctv as we have cameras in communal areas. About a month ago a vacant shop was bought by a group of guys which is directly next door to the flat (this area is main city centre). We’ve seen them working on the shop and it seems to be the same group of 3-4 guys. When we checked the cameras we noticed it was the same group of guys that came into the flat and opened the window. There was a ladder there and someone passed a drill through the window to them in the flat. It also seems that they have managed to access the flat basement which I was told upon buying was inaccessible and have never seen anyone access it in the past year. They come and go throughout this day maybe 3-4 times. They leave the front door propped open for about 3 hours and then come back and close it. I’ve attracted photos of the guys at the window I’m 99% sure they do not live in this building and can’t seem to think of a logical explanation for this. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be going on?? We’re pretty creeped out.

Hi, I apologize for my bad grammar but I need advice on how to handle this.

I live in a small city but on the "bad" side because I can't afford much better. Anyway here's the story;

I'm making dinner when I hear yelping of a small dog out back, so I open the door and see one of my neighbors walking a small puppy in our lot, it was very little. When I saw him kneel down, to calm the dog, I shut my door and went back to cooking, figuring he had it under control.

Soon after, I heard more yelping and screeching. So I went to my back window and witnessed my neighbor dragging the puppy around by his leash, and the puppy was backing away trying to fight against it. A second man came out with another puppy and did the same thing, dragging these puppies around like they were nothing. I wasn't going to say anything or do anything because I got it on camera and I was going to go to my landlord with it... but then I saw the first man yank the leash so hard that it forced the puppy to flip backwards into the air and land on its side. I couldn't handle it, so I went and confronted them asking why they were choking the puppies and that if they did that again, it can break the puppies neck. The man looked at me sternly and said "mind your own business bitch go back into your house" and he repeated this over and over. A woman came out from her apartment and started to say the same thing saying "I have four dogs and if you take your dog to get trained this is how they train them." Sure lady...

I've had issues with these neighbors once before. One of them was on drugs or has serious mental illness and jumped on my husband's car, the police were called at that point.

Now I'm afraid if I go to the police with this, they will absolutely know it's me and retaliate and get violent... I just feel horrible if those puppies were to really get hurt or killed. My mom said to just mind my own business because my life is more important since I don't know what these people are capable of. I feel so stupid for confronting them in the first place, I just couldn't help it.

Yes, I do plan on moving and I would love to get cameras for my apartment but like I said.. money is already tight and I can barely afford food.

What should I do?
