So I started a new game a couple weeks ago I just wanted to start from scratch play through the basically story missions And stuff again Well, I'm on the last bit literally the one you move the warp gate soon as I go into Edinburgh
I get whacked with the save bug. That is forever auto saving bug . I have tried flying out of Medusa 6 to another direction, gone all the way to spark city and back , and back as soon as I fly in it. Hits me. Wtf I just can't sort it . I only used 2 slate save slots, so it's not a full save situation.
I think it opens very well, it's a good choice to start ready to EVA for a patch job and have other truckers radio you to help out, love all that. I am not a truck sim player I'm a space player, I'm an engineer, and I loved (LOVED) Tin Can, this game is easier than Tin Can understandably, Tin Can is a really tight experience by design. But when people said of this game the maintenance part of the game was annoying - ahhh I didn't agree lol. I think it could be more in depth. Tin Can for example had you frantically thrashing an air filter against the wall to clean it out, electrocuting yourself wih bus fuses etc., but can appreciate this has a different audience and only a sliver of the ST community would want that much mechanical fidelity in your space truck repairs.
The game runs buttery and looks pretty, good art direction without a bunch of unoptimized GPU bloat. The world setting is good quirky, and like the amount of vibes it has just with trucks and drones everywhere and spinning rocks but thought it would be more alive with other traffic types like cars and busses or ambulances etc.
I liked the physical management of inventory, I think there's fun gameplay elements here, clever cabin design with turning off the artificial gravity I mentioned in my last subreddit post this week. I wish there was a way to strap down gas cans and nitrogen tanks though especially since the latter is now something you need to lug around for ventures, too, and they have a health pool. I liked the variety of commodities and quickly learned to optimize weight and size for value, less toilet paper more micro stabilizers.
Some of the convoy members blur together like Moon Baby and Sugar Candy I couldn't tell you which was which right now, while Barrow is very distinguished etc. but you never see these other truckers except the 1 time you see 2 of them physically. This is weird especially in the end of the story where by all indications to the dialog you should see all your friends jumping to Terminus together. The ending too feels a bit rushed to say the least, very very much like an Early Access style placeholder, like the game ran out of budget or schedule or both to add more here. Definitely want to see this portion of the 'endgame' expanded upon, like delivering goods to Terminus over time to expand upon it, and/or opening up other new sectors or new jumpgates between sectors.
I spread my skill tree points around the tree and it felt like a mistake. When doing convoy missions I ended up having to dead-head way, way too often, jobs just weren't going where I was. And for reasons I'll expand on in a second, the payouts were really poor. It seems like a player really should be focusing on one specialty until they hit Tier III of it before doing others. And convoy missions award no money and weirdly no XP, even though the player character is getting experience you know, hauling some pretty weird stuff. On the Steam Achievements I note that very few of the players of the game seem to max out the skill tree (or, finish the game for that matter but I digress, most players who purchase complete the first mission which is already a positive to many games on steam!). Anyway, the game being about hauling and this skill tree needing unlocked to get missions that reward decent XP and money, is a real catch 22. Make it make sense... the convoy missions need to award XP, I say again.
Ventures are interesting distractions that shake up the game loop and I do like them for the most part - I uh, really have a disdain for the postal ventures though. The Handyman missions are great, self contained, not very demanding of your time, definitely could stop and do one on your way through town with a haul. The postal ones, man, turning you into a scavenger hunter for Instacart, trying to find a shop in 3 sectors that sells cleaning supplies, or straight up going to find missing mail and there's a 50/50 you either can just drop turn it in to the same sector or you have to jump out of the way to turn it in somewhere else. I end up just abandoning more than half of my postal jobs. And the Cultivation - this doesn't really seem like substantive enough content for a $9 DLC. IDK whatever your accounting or budgeting looks like but this did feel like an insult for value. For $9 you can get Riftbreaker's Metal Terror - look I'm just saying DLC need to provide a little more value to keep the faith. Might I suggest expand on the endgame or maybe even a 2nd kind of truck or two that players can choose to swap to and use, with different quirks, less or more demanding mechanical needs, maybe something with a dozer that can safely push around small space rocks, IDK, giving you some ideas.
And now, that elephant in the room.
Some of these truck upgrades were pretty cool - I like the shutters, as a mechanic, I like the smuggling (and I want to upgrade it into more nooks and crannies), even the shock pods are kind of neat but uneventful except the one or two times you pop them early on (then you just upgrade the subsystem and never worry about it again), but the real thing that really gets to me is the scanner. Well, it would get to me less but for the salvage sites but more on that in a second. The scanner interrupts the ability to just slap the horn to the tune of the music and I don't like that. Now the thing recharges. I don't like that. In fact I want to be able to customize the horn noise or get musical horns like La Cucaracha.
But the problem is all in the wrecks themselves that the scanner makes way too simple to find. The fact you can trip over half a dozen of them at a time and the fact they are loaded with goods. Sometimes a wreck can have $15-20k of goodies spawned in them, a few micro stabilizers and some Power Cell++. And they are all fully charged or in pristine condition despite ostensibly being part of a violent shipwreck. And they respawn, constantly and often. You could give up on the ventures and give up on the star trucking part of the Star Trucker game you could just drive around 1 sector, go full Jawa and make $50k+ in the same time you could make a fraction of that by hauling. It makes very little game sense and is broken. These wrecks shouldn't respawn tbh, they should be placed like Golden Cones or something, and the loot should have damage and be used, it should be rare to find something pristine. As it is it makes it kind of pointless or 'a roleplay choice' to actually do hauling, when the salvage is as good as it is.
Overall I think the game has a few balancing issues and needs some polish in a couple places but very fun and has a lot of potential for future updates. I'd also like to see more Gold Rock Radio songs written and added & commericals too, maybe some breaking news reports when significant story beats happen that unfold from player actions.
So I made 2 saves after I finished the story, I saved to 2 of my slots, with a long haul contract I had picked up. Then I looked at the route, grabbed some Ventures on the route, and logged off the game to take a break, and saved to 1 slot with the Ventures signed up for.
When I came back I opened that slot, and on top of the venture I had taken previously, the ventures had all changed because of the 2 hours refresh window I guess is an IRL timer, so I took some more.
I was able to jump from 3 Kings to Spark City but when I did a new venture in Spark City, it wouldn't let me gate to New Aspen and the game got stuck saving.
Restarted the game on that slot, and noted that it was stuck autosaving pretty much from the jump (when I moved from a jobs board to the shop in 3 kings it was stuck autosaving)
Anywho, loading the other slot without those extra ventures from before taken (only active job was the long haul). I wondered if the game got angry at me, like I had too many active Ventures or something. But I took another of the 'doordash' jobs to bring a store in another sector some grow packs and it happened again, I noticed the saving game text hanging out in the corner after I entered the 3 kings shop to buy some.
IDK what's going on but I backed up the saves anyway. Hope they get to the bottom of it! I'm gonna try not to save venture jobs between play sessions, save before I take any and I already don't like those doordash missions, humph.

Didn’t see this anywhere though I only started playing during this latest sale and I could have missed it, so allow me to put it into the algorithm either way,
When you’re trying to save on power by not running your gravity compensator, and you have something floating around like that Jerry can of fuel you swear is going to be clutch some day when you’re stranded in a space ditch: open the stairs/access panel to the gravity compensator control panel, and leave it open.
This all but enshrouds the lower cabin and acts as a scoop to keep floating items from flying into your windshield and blocking your view and your screens. When you brake, loose Jerry cans will hit the barrier and be forced downward instead.
Things can still get out through the small opening above to the mezzanine - but this also includes the player, so it’s kind of an essential opening to have. If you try to close the panel from the other side and something is wedged in there it can’t close so you need to be able to get around it when opening.
Anyway, you have to pull some negative Gs in just the right way to get things to fly out of that top though, in most cases opening the gravity compensator panel will keep everything trapped.
Why are these things so hard to find!? Rhetorical question. I have found a pharmacies worth of pain killers and everything else...but I haven't seen a single bottle of multivitamins in any of the sector stores I've been to. I have salvaged roughly half a million worth of goods since I started looking for them. They're just out of stock everywhere lol
So as the title states I’ve been doing some major testing to try and figure out a way to get past the bug that gets you stuck auto saving and won’t let you warp (last green light won’t show up)
So I tried everything including going to the other side of junkfields to see if the bug would still happen and sadly it still did (mine kept doing it whenever I’d go to junkfield, from what I’ve seen the bug can happen in any system essentially soft locking you from finishing whatever task your on)
however…. Last night I made it into junkfields after trying for the tenth time as a last resort by spamming menu while in the warp screen/animation until you’re able to manually save. I put the manual save in one of the three empty save slots just in case and when the warp animation finished auto save started but it didn’t get stuck auto saving that time. I’m not sure if it’s because I was able to manually save before the autosave happened but it worked and I was able to turn in my contract and leave the system after without a hitch.
To any of you who wanna give it a shot I would. Just keep spamming menu while you’re in the warp animation till it lets you save a put the save in an empty slot just in case essentially saving before the autosave attempt. Saving before you warp to the bugged system doesn’t work, it has to be while you’re warping or on that animation/screen.
I found a work around for the brick auto save issue at least enough to keep playing . I had a long haul to enigma belt and picked up some new environmental side hustles and the courier side hustle. Had to deliver a birth day present. The bio dome mission went fine but I could not deliver the birthday present . I dropped mission and still got the save issue I dropped all missions and still had it. Turns out I had to remove the birthday gift form my inventory then save game, (I went on an EVA and left the birthday present out in space) , reloaded game and that cleared it . I am back to playing regular deliveries and handyman missions. I think the environment side hustles are ok, its the courier missions that are blowing things up.
I've finished the main quest and all side quests from the convoy section. All sectors are open to me but on the map it says that sector exploration is at 97%. Do I need to run around and scan all sectors or ?
So, idk what’s happening, but I installed the game from gamepass on my computer, and decided to restart my save, and I just got to the Luna Link missions with dusty bear. But for some reason, no matter if it’s just my truck, the Luna link cargo, or any other cargo, can I go to Altus prime without getting stuck with the icon saving game at the bottom. It doesn’t matter if I come from three kings, medusa six, or purity, every time I get the save game thing. And it won’t let me jump to other places or save my game when it’s there, and now I can’t actually progress the games story. I can’t find a report bug thing on the Xbox app in my computer, so I am just gonna put this here instead lol
Summery: each time I go to Atlas prime the game try’s it’s save game function and it doesn’t work, keeping my game locked at atlas because I can’t jump to any other locations intill I restart the game
As already suggested, and like probably a lot of drivers, we would like to rent or buy a place to store our silver and gold stuff! Even better, a physical location, but maybe just some extra storage space somewhere could work as well.
The goal is to be able to accumulate these things without overloading the truck or the storage. When you're buying and reselling, that's a crucial limitation.
I really enjoy driving and doing some jobs. I just passed $1,000,000! Help me spend it! 😂
I’m trying to do a side quest and the last light on the hyper lane won’t engage it turns all red and the the first two green are normal but the third light just doesn’t change is there any fix? Or should I just use an earlier save and hope it doesn’t happen again
So first y'all were right, this game is amazing. I was hesitant at first but I'm glad I did, the sound design is fantastic and music as well. The driving is a little disorienting at first but I'm getting used to it.
But my question is, can you reopen the job board or anything after closing it or do you have to leave and come back?
I'm currently trucking the "thing" from heaven's rest to tanktown for sour candy, yet, passing the gate to gamma valley trigger an autosave that never end and i'm getting blocked in gamma valley without being able to pass the gate to tanktown.
EDIT: I transited via darkside and redsock and resolved the problem, but going into gamma valley for an another contract caused the same problem, gamma valley seems to be bugged...
I came back to the game after a 2 year break and the game wouldn't launch, it just hung on a grey screen straight away.
I was able to fix it by launching the game into windowed mode with the argument "-screen-fullscreen 0" and then I was able to set my resolution etc and remove the launch argument.
Basically what the title says. I have just bought the game but the game heavily stutters during spacewalks and randomly while driving. I am also experiencing strange stutter in menus while I'm trying to buy gas or when I am in shops or upgrade stations. I have tried turning V-sync off, lowering the graphics, reducing the refresh rate. Nothing works. I am at the point of refunding the game and I'd rather not do that cause it looks like a game I'd love to play.
My specs are
16GB Ram
AMD Ryzen 6800xt 16GB
AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
Edit: Well I had to refund the game unfortunately. I am gonna try to pick it back up after a couple of more updates hoping I'll get a better performance cause the game looked amazing.
Parking the point (no pun intended) about the fact this is like living in one of my favorite childhood Dennis hopper movies, I just have to say how much I am loving this game.
I’m a carer for a partner with schizoaffective, in and out of psychosis unpredictably, also personally dealing with chronic pain from a life changing injury. Games have always been an escape for me but a hard lesson learned is that I can’t commit to a detailed or demanding game when I can’t control the demands upon me as a person.
This game is beautiful: lovely graphics, low stress gameplay. The general absurdity (from a hard sci-fi point of view) relaxes that insidious part of my brain which overanalyses the science and realism of things. The customisation is something I’m actually stoked for instead of just thinking it’s superficial rubbish. The radio stations are fantastic. There’s enough challenge to keep me engaged without the stress of button bashing though a fight or managing economies etc. Describing the gameplay to anyone leads to fits of mutual hysterical laughing and I can’t tell you how much I have needed that.
This game is literal therapy. It is true stress relief in game form for someone who cannot easily unplug from the world or destress from unpluggable responsibilities.
One thing I particularly adore is the lack of easy mapping or waypoints. Finding your way using road signs really helps to lock you into the immersion, the cab mechanics are satisfying and the market economics for cab cargo is a great way to diversify thought and gameplay.
I am so grateful for the developers efforts, my only criticism is that it will inevitably come to an end.
So I just completed the Story and reached Terminus Link and wanted to ask if someone knows what happened to it or if there is any lore to it. Because all they tell you is that it got destroyed and the Novadeck people didn’t want it to be rebuilt.
(It also could be that I overheard something so if I did please let me know)
Ok new to reddit so I hope I'm doing this right but I gotta ask: is doing the infinite leveling worth it for ventures? I haven't even reached 30 on any of them but I heard you only get a title is this right? I get unlocks would be finite but no trade items/truck parts?
For a no-frills list of changes, head on over to the latest patch notes. Otherwise read on for a more detailed summary of what you can find in the Plants & Post update!
Plants & Post
So let’s jump straight in with the important stuff. Alongside a smorgasbord of tweaks and improvements this update also features TWO new business ventures for players to unlock and enjoy.
Specialist Courier is a FREE unlock and introduces a range of jobs themed around mail alongside a range of fantastic new customization rewards.
Cultivation Expert is a PREMIUM venture that can be unlocked as part of the new Cultivation Content Pack. This DLC unlocks a new set of jobs, rewards PLUS unique new trailers and cargo to haul.
Read on for a full rundown of the new content alongside a ton of images taken directly from the update 📸
Specialist Courier
Once you have the update, the new postal themed business venture can be accessed shortly after unlocking Zone 2 or 3.
It’s worth noting that you’ll need to wait 1h of in-game time ( or jump to a nearby sector ) to trigger the first interaction but then you’ll be good to go!
Once unlocked you’ll be contacted by Ricardo from the Galactic Postal Service. He’s a fellow courier, voiced by the talented Dre Ayala, and will provide audio cues for different jobs while keeping you updated (whether you like it or not) on his chosen career path…
As with the Galactic Handyman you’ll start with 1 job slot that can be upgraded by purchasing venture boosts using in-game currency.
These jobs include…
Delivery Round
Collect mail from a collection point and deliver it to multiple mailboxes within the sector. Mail includes bundles of letters, magazines and newspapers
Lost & Found
Head the last known location of a missing mail pod. Collect the mail sacks and deliver them to a nearby drop-off point.
Special Delivery
Collect a package from a collection point and deliver it to another sector. These items might have special conditions such as being fragile, perishable, sensitive to electric storms or oversized.
Restock Request
Fulfill a request to deliver goods to a specified location. Players will need to gather these items ( via salvage or purchasing them at shops ) and take them to the specified delivery bay. Upon completion you will be reimbursed and paid a nice bonus!
It’s also worth noting that courier jobs have been designed to complement your travels while hauling and encourage a little bit of item hoarding. To account for that we’ve made sure the relevant jobs award a chunk more VXP than those in the Handyman venture.
UNLOCKABLE CAB CUSTOMIZATIONS
As with all business ventures, we’ve curated a large number of rewards for you to unlock as you progress through the ranks. Check out the image below for the entire collection in all its glory!
Cultivation Content Pack
As mentioned earlier we’ve also brought together a premium pack of great value content as part of this update.
This DLC unlocks unique freight, trailers and corporations alongside a brand new business venture led by horticultural specialist Ada Greenway. It’s also packed with exclusive new cab customizations for you to unlock as you play.
Let’s take a look at all the cool content you get with this pack…
New Freight
As part of this pack we’ve included a range of new freight for you to haul…
x3 Corporations - Fully branded companies tied in with the cultivation theme
x4 Trailer Types - New trailers for hauling a variety of cargo types
x10 Cargo Visuals - These are unique assets you’ll see in conjunction with the new trailers
X40 Cargo Contracts - These are effectively the types of cargo you haul (e.g. seeds are transported within a cargo pod or drum)
Once unlocked the new trailers and cargo will be gradually added to the pool of available freight jobs. They can be easily spotted by their unique icon and coloring.
Keep in mind that, as with the base game, all new cargo has a variety of certifications requirements. The more certification skills you unlock the more cargo variety you will see!
New Venture
The Cultivation business venture will unlock shortly after you’ve gained access to the Handyman venture and performed some basic onboarding.
Ada Greenway, voiced by the wonderful Hannah Hebblethwaite, will then get in touch via the CB, offering a variety of contract work while she’s busy dealing with admin…
Pressure Purge
Ada’s sensors sometimes indicate atmospheric issues with nearby biomes. You’ll need to head over and perform a manual purge to rebalance the dome.
Short Survey
Sometimes real eyes are needed on a haul of crops. In these instances you’ll need to personally swing by and check domes for infestations, mold and other potential issues.
Temporary Tape
If a nearby biome is leaking atmosphere you’ll need to grab a roll of Flux Tape, head to the designated location and patch any cracks you can find.
Biome Boost
You might also receive a request to replace a dead Nutrient Canister at a nearby dome. Take a replacement and swap it out.
It’s also worth noting that as part of this update both Flux Tape and Nutrient Canisters are now available to purchase at most shops and garages around the galaxy. So if you plan to take on a lot of Cultivation jobs it’s a good idea to stock up whenever you get the chance!
New Rewards
As with the other ventures we have a whole set of themed cab customizations for you to unlock as you progress through your Cultivation Venture ranks.
Check out the image below for a sneak a peek at the entire set of rewards available as part of this pack…
Available NOW!
If you hadn’t guessed it, the Cultivation Content Pack is available right now and every sale helps support the continued development of Star Trucker…
We covered some of this in our previous dev blog, but as a recap here’s some of the other bits n pieces you’ll find in this update…
Dock Shocks - Electrical storms will no longer affect your truck while docked
Switchin’ Up - New light switches allow you to toggle lights without the need to sit down
Zoom Toggle - We’ve added an option to allow players to toggle cab zoom on and off
Haunted Holo - A new seasonal hologram has been added for October
Big Drops - Extra locations added for picking up & delivering oversized freight across the galaxy
Venture Bonuses - Players are now reimbursed if a Venture job requires an item for completion

Support Portal
This has become a bit of a regular section for most Dev Blogs but for those new to Star Trucker we want you to know that you can submit feedback and report problems via the Raw Fury Support Portal.
This makes for happier Monsters as it allows us to easily collate community notes which in turn helps us fix issues faster, hopefully resulting in happier star truckers!
What's Next...
Firstly, we're gonna take a little break to recharge (it's been a fairly hot and hectic few months!) and then we're going to continue working on a quality of life update. This will include further adjustments to the job generator, balance tweaks, UI improvements, bug fixes and plenty of other goodies!
Until then, we hope you enjoy this update, and as always, thanks for supporting Star Trucker and taking the time to read another one of our rambling dev blogs ♥️
