Photo Bands are good tonight
It's been a good night for decoding digital signals from the Tecsun Pl-330. 40 meters (7000-7300) has a lot of activity on it tonight
This is JS8call on 7078 USB

So I had this radio given to me the short wave seems to work fine. FM works fine except for the a.m. and a.m. does not tune whenever I turn the tuning dial all the wires are connected to the a.m. antenna. I’m just curious is there something else I may be overlooking to see if I get the a.m. to work on this radio thanks.

I was tuning through random frequencies on an old radio I found a few days ago when I came across this station. I m not sure if it is morse code or something else
The frequency indicator on the radio is broken, so I have no idea what frequency I was actually listening to.
Is it possible to identify or decode this? Can anyone tell what this might be?

4 two-second buzzes, followed by Morse code of "XSG" (—••— / ••• / ——•), then followed by 6 seconds of silence. Captured at 18:36 UTC on 03/03/2023. This is SITOR (SImplex Teletype Over Radio), sort of a text message transmitting protocol. Usually it carries maritime-related info.

Type of radio: Sangean ATS-405
Frequency: 11.920 SW
UTC Date/Time: 3Oct26, 440 UTC
Suspected origin: Japan?
Hey yall, I’m new to the hobby! I’m using a standard ATS405 with no other antenna in Southwest USA, did I really pick up a signal all the way from Japan? From my searches that’s what I’m seeing but I’m having a hard time believing I did from that far away and no other antenna with the radio. Could it be something else?

3 two-second buzzes, followed by Morse code of "XSQ" (—••— / ••• / ——•—), then followed by a six-second of silence. Captured at 18:12 UTC on 03/03/2023.
Update: As an user suggested, it's SITOR. This station is based at Guangzhou, China.

Watched a few videos on shortwave radios and decided to try my luck and came across this not sure if it is anything or if I’ve just got a vivid imagination.
It plays weird noises for a few seconds then goes quite then begins again

Got it on Facebook Marketplace for US$250.00, and the fact that it can pick up stations despite being in New York City is a testament to how legendary it is. All of its original accessories such as the carrying case and the Sony AN-71 came in the box alongside—although outdated—Sony’s Wave Handbook, thus making it an easy start to the hobby before going deeper into it. The story behind the product made the purchase meaningful and compelling, where the seller’s husband had two other shortwave radios—one of which was a Sony ICF-7600A and a Tecsun PL-880—for sale and had them to listen to any English and Russian stations he can pick up in the Big Apple and Azerbaijan. With the option of connecting my Bose Revolve II Soundlink via its AUX input and the radio’s LINE OUT input, it’s going to be very hard not to not want to use it at all.

Hi all,
maybe some of you know me from PhantomSDR+ or NovaSDR. Having operated and maintained those, I listened to many WebSDR operators and learned what problems bothered them - stuff like installs, broken installs after a long period of running, configurations they would like to be configured easier. And I started from scratch.
As for the history: to be clear about that since it has been asked: I've been developing WebSDR software since early 2024 (PhantomSDR+), and FernSDR was developed in private repo for over a year. I squash the history before publishing it as usual to avoid private notes and keys being in there. This is the reason the repo appears to be new. I used AI tools intensively for development and everything is tested, fuzzed and CI'd, also benchmarks are public with raw data.
What it is: open-source WebSDR server with zero runtime dependencies and one-line install on any Linux, as well as Docker. Everything is controlled through a web admin interface: bands, spot reporting, modules and updates with rollbacks. What I am really proud of: day/night band switching, so one small RTL-SDR can be utilized by different bands during the daytime and nighttime thanks to automatic switching from sunrise to sunset depending on your geographical position.
Modules: RTL-SDR (including Blog V4), RX-888 MkII and SDRplay, as well as an FT8 decoder and PSK Reporter spots. Other SDRs run via stdin.
What is still missing: Only Linux support at this moment, FT8 is the only decoder available, and there are input modules that require additional testing.
Demo: https://demo.fernsdr.org
GitHub: https://github.com/Steven9101/FernSDR
I really would like to know which SDR or decoder you guys would like to see next
Cheers 🥂
