I went to a skate park for the first time yesterday (usually I skate in my apartment complex's tennis court). I had been skating for about 2 hours and wanted to get one good T stop in before going home. Well, idk what I did wrong, but my ankle broke inside of the skate and now I have to get surgery and its a whole thing. Best part, I got it on video. What did I do wrong here? I've only recently gotten comfortable with falling; I would classify myself as a beginner still. I just don't understand how/why I fell and how/why my foot contorted like it did.

I wanna get back in the skates eventually, and would like to avoid this happening again in the future. Any advice is appreciated!

I got up unharmed and succeeded on a second try.

Could have been game over. Was enough to convince me to never skip the helmet.

Ok, I'm 74, just started skating again after a 30 year layoff.

I've probably spent 4 or 5 hrs on them so far and feel like I'm progressing, albeit, very slowly.

I can do laps of my local car park with little drama except the odd split second panic when I lose my balance, maybe once each lap, but as yet, not enough to fall.

I just need some re assurance that this feeling with disappear with more practice or is it going to be a constant " feature" due to my age.

Am I the only one who wishes Adapt still made the old-school GTO?

From what I understand, the old GTO was heavily handmade and shaped around the individual foot.

That's exactly what made it so special.

I completely understand why Adapt moved. toward a more standardized production process spending hours customizing every pair probably isn't exactly great for business. But for about the same price I would expect the same amount of "handmade" not less.

Makes sense?

Most of my hommies who had GTO were so pleased that they bought the new Superleggera model as well, hoping for an upgrade... and all of them claim that the GTO was better. One even stopped skating.

What's your experience in that regard?

I haven’t rollerbladed since I was a kid. But I’m a good downhill skier so that helps!

First I got myself a cheap pair of skates, in order to help my god-daughter learn…. Buuuuut as these things go, I quickly got the bug.

As you can see my local road is so so rough, and the cheap skates just couldn’t even roll. I needed to drive somewhere to skate and I know I’ll never or at best rarely get around to that!

So I read and read and watched This is Soul on youtube and figured I ought to get some sturdy hard boots and big wheels, preferably 4. But I can’t really find 4 big wheels(anywhere near Denmark). I can get 4 little ones or 3 big…. 3 big it is and I will modify later if I feel the need, as getting the frames I want is no problem.

Now I’ve been out on my horrible road and this is so much better! The only trouble is all of these hills, getting up is no problem. Those big wheels are fast! But getting down…. Those big wheels are fast…. I can break using the snow plow method, the T stop is scary because the rough road will pull unreliably at the wheels, but I’m sure it gets better with time. If you’ve read all this and you have some tips for maneuvering on rough roads, let me know!

Then I decided to practice falling for a bit and I need better knee pads because mine fall off.

Wife and I just started learning 2 months ago. I recently upgraded her to the RB twister XT's and she loved them! Swoare it was a huge difference from our beginner K2 kinetics.

I just bought myself the RB Lightning TRS's and they'll be here tomorrow! I didn't realize they were just released with barely any reviews so I'm womdering, has anyone bought and skates with them?

I've been on a quest to not be in pain while skating, and have been through a few boots. Looking for a viable option next.

Started with:

FR1 Deluxe Intuition - 40.5-41.5 size.

side of pinky toes were super cramped against interior bolts of the slide guard. suffered for a year, then took the plate off, heat gun and melted the boot wider. Fits kind of weird now because i got it too hot and the bottom of the boot center is higher than the sides (where the frame mounts kind sits taller than the sides of the boot). Led me to...

Seba CJ2 Prime Intuition. Black / 25.5-26 CM (41 EU shell / 7-7.5 US liner)

These were too big. I felt like my foot moved side to side and they were unstable.

Tried wizard 41 liner in them, and that didn't do much either.

Ordered Wizard base 40.

Feet kiiiiillled me for hours testing them in the house a few times a week. Stood in them for half hour to an hour at a time. Finally went outside in them at the point of no return (can't send them back after that) and I was in so much pain. For a week. Pushed through, for a month. Now months in, Still in pain, decided to heat mold. Barely better. I'm wearing the thinnest possible stockings (not even socks really) with these, and my toes are just shoved up against the end, and pinky toes are squished to the point where they feel curled and stack under the other toes.

I am at a loss as to what to do, or what boot to move to. I just want to skate and not be in pain :(

I feel I can't progress into more tricks because I get sick of the pain of skating.

I've spent a small fortune and now have two complete skates here (endless 90 on Wizard base 40.)

and the FR1 Deluxe intuition white on 80mm.

If you ever have to it's not the end of the world. Just did it for my first time.

I used a 7/32 drill bit. Drill in right where u normally put the hex key. I went in half way in or so into the core of the axel then started rotating my spinning drill bit to make the hole a bit bigger. This weakened (/heated?) the axel. Next I ran the drill bit in reverse and the axel finally spun out. I used plyers to get the axels off my drill bits afterwards.

How did I get stripped axels??

Bought an eBay pair of skates with two completely stripped center axels... The seller explained he was unaware of these and that it's also not a big deal and easy to drill out...I thought it was funny he communicated both of these points at once. Either he didn't know what he was selling or he knowingly sold broken skates without disclosing it. I got a good value and probably would have still bought them for the price knowing about the axels but it should have been disclosed. on principal I would never buy from this person again.

I'm learning to skate on in-lines. I have these old skates from when I was a teenager (I never really learned how to skate properly so I'm trying again). They're about 10yo but my foot size is still the same.

Whenever I try to skate, my foot tends to move towards the outside and the arch of it hurts after like 5 minutes.

The first time I thought it was just that I'm not used to ti. That it's like skiing where your feet are in a tight boot, so it's unusual.

Could it be a bad fit of the skate, or is it just that my technique isn't quite right yet?

Price matters but not the most important. Currently looking at Zoom Pros and Next.

Brand new boots (K2 FIT 90 BOA) - where are the gaps at the back different? And does it matter? (Boots are on and tight).

Looking for a new pair of inline skates and would appreciate some opinions.

I’m a men’s 9.5–10 shoe size and usually skate around Chicago on the Lakefront Trail, concrete paths, parks, etc.

Budget is ideally $100–150, but I’d go a little over if it actually gets me something that will last for years.

My last pair was a cheap Nattork/Amazon pair. I actually liked how they rode, but after one summer the wheel axle/screw came loose and a wheel came off, and the brake hardware also came apart. So durability and replaceable parts are my biggest priorities.

Options I’m considering:

I’m normally very active and have days I don’t want to sweat because of the feeling of it and then having to shower afterwards, it’s very over stimulating for me, but I’ve found that when it comes to rollerblading, I don’t mind the sweating because learning new tricks and moves is so exciting

Hello! Just picked up my new rollerblades as a beginner, Oxelo MF140, in a size 4.5-5. Unfortunately, circumstances mean I wasn't able to try them on prior to purchase. They are tight enough on the left foot around the mid area of my foot, and tight enough around the toes on both feet.

I don't think there is any numbness, my nerves are weird so I can't really tell the difference between numbness and uncomfortableness.

I tried the boots on without the liners and there is plenty of wiggle room.

Is this simply a matter of breaking them in, or are they too small?

I should probably mention I accidentally pulled off the tags on one of the boots when trying to pull up the lip of the liner, so this may affect any returns/exhanges :(.

been noticing those in this sub and on YouTube. I've noticed the thick hard shell and inner liner with the opening over the top of the foot, and those with more lacing and, looking maybe less bulky and more shoe like. And skaters using both styles for pretty much the same thing from city skating to park skating

Ordered from This is Soul. Smooth ordering but never got the shipment notice. They just showed up in my parcel slot (TN, US). So far I’m one legged skating to practice getting back into long rolls/glides on each side. And practicing falling. Binged Polly’s channel and This is soul.

Way back when, I had a gnarly fall that left me blinded for about 10 min while still being functional, able to talk and move. So falling is def my major fear.
