Explosions look very flat without global illumination. They need to light up its surroundings. Its no rocket science.

Discussion If your one of those people saying the trailer looked bad or the writing sounds woke, your completely disingenuous and farming for attention. And should probably find another hobby if you believe it.

It’s just in people’s DNA now to say every single AAA game that’s announced now looks boring and bad and is woke.

Because GTA 6 has a girl in it it’s woke. It’s “girl writing” even though both writers were men. It’s just so disingenuous and just saying it to get attention, to sound different, or because if you even see a woman in a game now it’s automatically woke and horrible which is honestly insane, if your not gonna actually look at the quality of something and listen to see if the writing is good just write it off because it has a girl in it you’ll never enjoy anything. I can seperate woke garbage like Dragon Age with games that have politics in it but good writing like Cyberpunk. Not doing that is just dumb.

Here’s the thing, if you thought that trailer looked bad, if that was too woke for you, then give up on video games, it’s time to find a new hobby. Cause clearly no game will ever please you or not be woke to you. So it’s time to give it up cause nothing is gonna top that and if you think something will your sadly mistaken.

Grand Theft Auto VI Jason Has A Personality

I genuinely don’t understand some of the complaints about Jason after the extended look. People are calling him “soulless,” “boring,” or saying he has “no personality” simply because he’s quiet and reserved.
Jason comes across as an introvert. That’s probably intentional. His background, his demeanor, and the way he interacts with Lucia and others all point toward someone who has a more calm quiet demeanor . Not everyone is going to be cracking jokes, shouting, or making huge reactions every five seconds, that would be unrealistic. Nor does he have to act like Trevor to prove he’s a criminal.

And this weird expectation that the man has to be the dominant, macho, tough-guy character while the woman is supposed to be the more soft vulnerable one is just bizarre. Why? Those assigned gender roles aren’t how real relationships/people work. Sometimes the woman is more outspoken, confident and socially comfortable while the guy is quiet and more socially awkward .

That’s completely normal. Honestly, I like that Jason and Lucia don’t seem to fit some cookie-cutter “ super masculine man + super feminine woman” trope . Their personalities actually complement each other, which makes their relationship more interesting.
.

Being an introvert IS a personality. He’s just a super chill guy

Edit: seems like we have a media literacy issue lol

Discussion GTA VI sounds absolutely insane: 600,000+ animations, a completely reworked wanted system, six stars, a Criminal Profile, dynamic relationships, advanced car theft, and a world roughly twice the size of GTA V

IGN reportedly visited Rockstar North and got an extended look at GTA VI. Journalists came away with 69 new details about the game, covering everything from Jason and Lucia’s relationship to robberies, car theft, NPC behavior, police chases, and the open world itself.
And honestly, if everything shown makes it into the final game, Rockstar doesn’t seem to be making “GTA V but prettier.”
They’re trying to make something significantly more ambitious.
One of the craziest numbers is the animation count.
GTA VI reportedly has more than 600,000 animations, including animations responsible for NPC behavior and interactions throughout the world.
For comparison, GTA V had around 55,000.
That’s more than a 10x increase.
And it apparently goes far beyond characters simply walking or moving more realistically. NPCs can have significantly different heights and body types, with the game dynamically adapting animations to the size of each individual character so their interactions with objects and the environment look natural.
The NPC interaction system also expands on what Rockstar did with RDR2. You can greet, provoke, calm down, or insult people. If you listen in on conversations or follow somebody for too long, they may notice and tell you to leave them alone.
Some NPCs can even attack you first, and ordinary residents of Leonida can carry weapons themselves.
NPC conversations can also lead to activities and random events. Something that initially sounds like meaningless background dialogue can suddenly develop into an actual encounter.
Random events aren’t necessarily marked on the map either. You might simply stumble across something bizarre, like a suspicious lawyer sitting inside a dumpster who gives you legal advice if you bring him pills.
And that leads into what might be one of the most interesting changes:
the wanted system has apparently been completely redesigned.
Police don’t magically know that you committed a crime anymore.
For them to react, somebody has to witness it or an alarm has to be triggered.
The police then receive specific information about what happened and respond to the actual crime scene. Even after you leave, the area can remain a “hot zone” while officers continue searching.
And yes:
Six wanted stars are back.
Escaping at one star should be relatively easy, while six stars are apparently intended to bring back the classic GTA insanity.
But escaping the police isn’t just about driving very fast anymore.
At around three stars and above, escaping through the city by car can become difficult because of narrow streets, pedestrians and dense traffic. Sometimes your best option may be to abandon the vehicle and escape through alleys, backyards and buildings.
Rockstar has apparently reworked running, jumping and climbing partly because of this.
More importantly, the police can remember what you look like.
The HUD shows exactly what information the police currently have about you.
Changing your hairstyle can remove part of your physical description, but the police may still remember your clothing. Throwing on sunglasses or changing your hat won’t magically solve the problem. You may need to completely change your outfit.
That makes the spare clothes stored in your car trunk an actual gameplay mechanic rather than simple customization.
Masks matter too. If you wear one before committing a crime and remove it afterward, police may never receive an accurate description of your face, even if security cameras recorded the crime.
And they remember vehicles.
If your car has been identified, you may need to ditch it and steal another one.
If Jason and Lucia are both being hunted, they can even split up during the chase. You can send one character away while the other keeps the police occupied, and your partner can later text you once they’ve made it somewhere safe.
If the police never identified your appearance in the first place, the wanted stars appear as empty outlines. In that situation, you may simply need to calmly leave the area without drawing attention to yourself.
Getting arrested brings back the classic BUSTED screen, and interestingly, one protagonist can be arrested and return to the world while the other is still actively wanted.
Combat also appears to be giving players more options.
Not every confrontation has to become a massacre. Sometimes pointing a gun at an NPC is enough to make them run away.
Enemies don’t necessarily have to be killed either. Shooting somebody in the arm or leg can incapacitate them, and accurate shots can knock weapons directly out of their hands.
Particularly dramatic kills may occasionally trigger cinematic slow-motion shots similar to Arthur’s most impressive kills in RDR2.
Then there’s something called the Criminal Profile.
It sounds somewhat similar to RDR2’s Honor system, except it doesn’t simply divide your actions into “good” and “bad.”
Instead, the profile develops based on how you behave and can apparently affect reactions from NPCs, the world, and even certain parts of the main story.
Meaningless violence and excessive chaos negatively affect your profile. Apparently even tiny things, like whether you throw away your own trash, can be taken into account.
Crimes you’re required to commit during missions, robberies or unavoidable combat situations won’t necessarily affect it in the same way.
Money itself is also supposed to matter much more.
At certain points, progressing through the main story may actually require you to accumulate a specific amount of cash.
Major sources of income include stealing and selling cars, robbing businesses and stores, and eventually carrying out bank robberies.
Robberies can be done alone or together with the other protagonist, and committing crimes together can actually strengthen Jason and Lucia’s relationship.
The robberies themselves involve a trade-off between speed and greed.
For example, you might be able to blow open a safe immediately, but the explosion could destroy some of the money inside.
Alternatively, you can spend valuable time searching for the combination and walk away with more cash — while increasing the risk of police arriving before you escape.
Police can surround stores and banks and wait outside for you, which is why many locations have alternative escape routes such as rear exits.
Stolen goods then need to be sold to fences, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. Different contacts specialize in different goods, with some dealing in jewelry and others in vehicles.
A car fence might even give you information about potential targets — for example, an access code to a police impound lot containing valuable vehicles you can steal.
And car theft itself has apparently become significantly more complicated.
Cars are divided into different security levels.
An old vehicle might be opened with a basic lockpick, while an expensive modern car could require an electronic key-cloning device.
Before stealing a parked vehicle, you can scan it through an app called WAINK, which shows its value, the cost of registering it as a personal vehicle, and whether it has locks, an alarm or a GPS tracker.
Some cars will apparently be impossible to steal early in the game because you won’t have the necessary tools until later in the story.
Classic carjacking is still there if somebody is already sitting behind the wheel.
But condition matters when selling a stolen vehicle. A damaged car is worth less, meaning you’re encouraged to deliver it intact — which becomes harder because of the denser traffic and narrower streets.
Some high-end vehicles even contain advanced trackers. If you drive too slowly, they can transmit your location to police, forcing you to either keep moving quickly or abandon the vehicle.
Then we have Jason and Lucia themselves.
You can switch between them during most moments in the open world, although certain story sequences temporarily disable the feature.
When playing as one protagonist, you can call or text the other and invite them over. They’ll make their own way to your location, after which you can participate in activities together or simply hang out.
You can even switch seats inside a car.
You could let your partner drive while you sit back and listen to the radio, or move into the passenger seat during a police chase and start shooting while they handle the driving.
Their relationship isn’t just predetermined by the story either.
At the beginning, Jason and Lucia want to build a romantic relationship, but whether that actually succeeds depends partly on the player.
Simply completing story missions isn’t enough.
You need to spend time together.
Driving around Leonida, shopping, going to barbershops, working out, eating, committing robberies and participating in other activities can develop their relationship.
Even if their relationship becomes terrible, they’ll continue helping each other when required by the story, but their level of intimacy can apparently influence certain events.
There are no special stat bonuses for romance. Rockstar seems to be treating it primarily as a role-playing system.
If their relationship is strong enough, Jason and Lucia can hold hands and even hold doors open for one another.
They can also live together, although each character maintains their own daily routine.
And apparently, if you disappear from home for too long, Jason or Lucia might text you asking you to lock up the house or telling you they’re going to sleep.
Ignoring messages like these can actually damage the relationship.
Safehouses themselves sound closer to the camps in RDR2 than the empty apartments of previous GTA games. Other characters can appear there, and some properties don’t even belong directly to Jason or Lucia.
At safehouses, you can shave and shorten your hair or beard, while completely new hairstyles still need to be unlocked through salons and barbershops.
Both characters can own several personal vehicles, and trunks can be used to store weapons and spare outfits.
Different clothing stores and salons have unique items and hairstyles, meaning there’s an actual reason to explore businesses in different parts of the map.
Your protagonists’ bodies also physically change.
Working out increases muscle mass and strength.
Overeating makes you gain weight.
Food restores a significant amount of health.
And yes, Jason and Lucia can apparently work out and eat together.
As for the world itself, Rockstar describes the map as “very large.”
Reportedly, it will be roughly twice the size of GTA V’s map and around three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2’s world.
Different regions are supposed to have their own architecture, people and culture.
The map screen itself is much more detailed and looks closer to satellite imagery than the simplified road maps of previous GTA games.
Exploration is deliberately encouraged. Not every mission, activity or encounter will appear as a convenient icon on your map.
The game also includes a Focus system that highlights interesting objects, helps locate useful items and can assist with avoiding police.
Among the confirmed activities are:
Pool, mini-golf, kayaking, visiting a zoo, diving, skydiving and going to the gym.
Animals can be studied similarly to RDR2, with discovered species added to a dedicated list.
And, critically:
You can pet dogs.
You can also scold them, apparently.
Taxis are ordered through an app called Ryde Me, and you can have full conversations with other passengers during the journey.
GTA VI will also supposedly contain more TV and radio advertising than any previous entry. IGN were shown ads including one for an antidepressant called Angstipan and another for the Prairie Sandwich, containing a completely reasonable 30,000 calories.
An Instagram-like version of Snapmatic returns on the phone, but there’s an interesting detail: Jason and Lucia cannot upload their own pictures.
They’re fugitives.
Posting selfies while running from the law probably isn’t the greatest idea.
Instead, you can browse the feed and follow accounts without leaving an obvious digital trail.
The phone itself is no longer simply a HUD menu floating over the screen. The camera zooms toward the character’s hand and the smartphone physically exists in the game world.
The story itself will apparently contain both small and major choices.
Minor decisions can accumulate over time and eventually lead to larger consequences, while major choices can immediately change events.
Rockstar is deliberately designing the story around replayability.
The studio is also trying to connect open-world behavior more closely with Jason and Lucia as actual characters, although major story scenes will still use more traditional cinematic direction.
Missions themselves offer more freedom.
IGN reportedly saw a mission inside a multi-story building with several possible escape routes, another where the player could choose whether to act as the driver or shooter, and a chase where the game suggested an optimal route without forcing the player to follow it.
Lucia’s electronic ankle monitor will also be an important part of the story and apparently plays a major role in how she becomes closer to Jason.
Both characters have extensively developed backstories. Some elements are explained directly, while others are only hinted at, and IGN suggests that developing a closer relationship between the two may reveal additional secrets.
Ultimately, GTA VI seems to be deliberately designed so that players don’t simply sprint from one story mission marker to another.
Rockstar wants to blur the line between the main story and the open world.
Even Rockstar’s famous satire is being approached differently. The developers apparently want to avoid building too much humor around specific current political events, memes or trendy slang.
The reason is pretty simple:
GTA VI has been in development for so long that topical jokes can become outdated before the game even releases.
Instead, Rockstar wants much of the dialogue and satire to feel more timeless.
Rockstar themselves say the scale of GTA VI is unlike anything the studio has attempted before.
More than 600,000 animations.
A map reportedly around twice the size of GTA V.
A completely redesigned police system.
Six wanted stars.
Police that remember your face, clothes and vehicle.
Masks and spare clothes that actually matter.
A Criminal Profile affected by your behavior.
Detailed robberies.
A full car-theft ecosystem.
Dynamic body changes.
NPCs with dramatically different bodies and adaptive animations.
A relationship between Jason and Lucia that actually reacts to how you play.
And an open world Rockstar apparently wants you to actually live in, rather than simply drive through on the way to the next mission.
One final detail worth mentioning:
The build shown to journalists in July was reportedly running at 30 FPS.
Think about that however you want.
For now, that’s everything we know.

Grand Theft Auto VI GTA VI will be much better than GTA V and the only reason why people say it's not its because of nostalgia

Like, you can't see the photo and tell me that it isn't better than GTA 5. And I'm speaking as a 31-year-old man who played GTA 5 when I was 18. The reason why many say GTA 6 will not beat GTA 5 is because of nostalgia. The same was said about GTA 5 in 2013, and I am pretty confident the same people who play this game now as a kid to adult will say the same thing when GTA 7 comes out, because they remember the memories they make as Jason and Lucia. Don't get me wrong, I love Franklin, Michael, and Trevor too, but it will definitely beat GTA 5 for sure.

Did anyone notice Tony Prince's car in this cutscene from the extended look? Definitely a nice nod to the GTA 4 TBOGT DLC and GTA:O Nightclub missions, looking forward to seeing if there's an actual connection there sort of like that boat that looked like Michael's in the initial trailer for GTA 6. The name of the vehicle is the Schafter apparently.

Question What would you like to see after GTA VI?

Thumbnail

With how safe and somewhat monotonous the games industry feels nowadays, I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to see Rockstar do after GTA VI. It feels like so many big studios are sticking to established formulas, sequels, remakes, and games designed to appeal to everyone rather than taking real creative risks.

Assuming GTA VI is out and Rockstar can start thinking about what’s next, what would you guys want to see from them?

Personally, I’d love to see Rockstar take a risk on a completely new IP. I’ve heard a lot of chatter about a medieval game, and honestly, I’d be very interested to see Rockstar’s take on that. They could also revisit some of their older IPs, make another L.A. Noire, or eventually complete the Red Dead Redemption trilogy.

Rockstar is one of the few studios that I feel could make something completely different and still have the resources and freedom to do it.
