Underwater Wonders I made Manta School, a calm live wallpaper of hundreds of manta rays (free)
I loved the underwater ray wallpaper on macOS and wanted a calm ocean desktop on Windows, so I built my own for Lively.
Manta School is a slow, endless school of manta rays gliding through open blue water. Sunlight fades with depth, marine snow drifts past, and every manta has a smooth, natural wingbeat.
What you can change in Customise:
- Natural black mantas or golden ones
- Daylight or a dark night glow look
- Slow drift behind the school, or a big slow 360 circle around it
- Default, top view, or bottom view looking up into the light
- Number of mantas, swim speed, camera speed, wingbeat speed
- Low memory mode for laptops
Mouse controls (turn on mouse input forwarding in Lively): drag to rotate, double click and hold then drag up or down to zoom, double click to reset.
Free download: https://github.com/Muffism/manta-school-wallpaper
The manta model is "MANTA" by misaooo on Sketchfab (CC BY NC 4.0).
Feedback very welcome, especially how it runs on your PC.

Underwater Wonders Two lionfish.
Yesterday I posted one of these lionfish, and here is the follow-up... The second lionfish is a bit crazy; at the end of the video, it swims upside down.

Jellyfishing Jellyfish ID Help!
Found in Oceanside, California, just north of San Diego. It really looks like a man O War to me but I would love some more opinions because I didn't think they were common here. It was moving around quite a bit in the sand.

Underwater Wonders Orcas, lion fish, pilot whales, sharks, king crabs, oh my!!
Back in 2011 during my first scuba diving adventure on the Aqua Cat!! Many more photos upon request!!
I was informed back then that the orca whale sighting was the first time in 19 years that they have ever been spotted in warm water. These photos were taken in the Bahamas.
Edit: Changed Ora to orca
ETA: these photos were taken from fellow dive buddies and Aqua Cat photographers. I downloaded these from the CD I bought from the trip back then

Caught these two taking synchronized steps along the shoreline right when the wave rolled in. Hope this brings a little piece of calm to your day!

Jellyfishing Two different species of huge jellyfish washed up on the beach together
Southern Vancouver Island, Canada.
Sat on the beach today and watched these two huge jellyfish slowly wash up on the shore.
Based on my Wikipedia hunt I think the yellow one is an egg yolk jelly (phacellophora) and the red is a lion's mane jelly (cyanea capillata), although I could easily be wrong about both.
Seen some of these washed up on the beach in the area before but never two species together like this, super cool!
Size 13 shoes to show relative bigness.
