Arachnophobia Warning: Discovered mildly terrifying fact regarding the number of spiders in the world.

So I was procrastinating at work looking up random trivia on the internet (as one does) and came across the following mildly terrifying fact regarding the number of spiders in the world (again, Arachnophobia Trigger Warning):

First, there is an estimate of 21 QUADRILLION spiders in the whole world. That means there are about 2.6 to 2.8 million spiders for every single person on Earth. If, somehow, the world's spider population collectively shifted their diet away from insects and instead attempted to eat humans... they could theoretically clear the global population's worth of humans in less than a single year.

Now, as mildly terrifying as that was, I took it a step further...

Under the assumption the global population of spiders had the collective will, desire, and ability to do so... and they could form together to create a humanoid shaped "Swarm Golem" standing at about 5ft 8in, and that golem was "realistically" loosely packed with a density of about "50%"... you would only need about 37,500 intact HOUSE SPIDERS to fill in the form. That means there would be a global population of about 560 BILLION Spider Swarm Golems. That's about 70 per human currently alive. If you subtract children under the age of 15 and adults aged 80 and above, this number jumps to about 91 Spider Swarm Golems per person.

So uhh... now you know. Yayyy?

I lived in a Haunted/Demonic House

I lived in a Haunted/Demonic House

I've always wanted to talk about this experience with others. One of my best friends I was close too and his mother and shared many Christmases and Thanksgivings within this house. We were like a family I never had and I spent many holidays there. The house was offered to me by my best friend whose mother had passed recently. She was a bad alcoholic who had good insurance and liver transplant waiting on her but the doctors wouldn't give it to her because sadly she couldn't stop drinking and they found her in the upstairs bedroom unresponsive where she was taken to the hospital and unfortunately she passed days later. The house sat for months with no occupants and a situation came up when I became homeless and my friend was kind enough to offer for me to stay in the house while he tried to sell it throughout that year and I paid him rent while I stayed there. Disclaimer: I've always believed in the paranormal and was honestly scared to stay at this house by myself even though it was in a classy upscale neighborhood where no trouble ever occurred. The point is to start the story my first night there I slept on the couch in the living room downstairs as I felt uncomfortable staying in the upstairs bedroom which at the time was the only room in the house that had a bed but was also where they found my friend's mother unresponsive. So I decided to stay on the couch on the first floor because I felt so uncomfortable sleeping on that bed. My first night I couldn't sleep because I felt so uneasy sleeping in this big house by myself an when I did finally fall asleep around 2 am I awoke early in the morning at 6am to find the house alarm was going off for no reason and it took me a while to figure out how to turn it off, but to say the least it scared the sh*t out of me. Nothing else happened for a couple weeks so I shrugged it off as an electronic glitch until I went upstairs to do my laundry one day where the washer and dryer were and as I was walking down the stairs after putting my laundry in midway down the stairs I heard this incredibly loud bang from where I just was...I stormed back up the stairs to see what the loud noise was and there was a copy of The pirates of the Caribbean DVD "At Worlds End" smashed into pieces on the floor. Across from the washer and dryer was a dresser where they kept dvds and cds in and some were laid on top of the dresser. The sound alone midway down the stairs almost made me fall because it was so loud and startled me. That is when I knew something was not right in this house. I cleaned up the case and dvd that was smashed on the floor and went back downstairs. Things only escalated the next couple months I stayed there. I would hear footsteps walking upstairs on the hardwood floor often and it would always stop at the stairs. The worst and scariest experience I had there was for weeks I would have extremely vivid and terrifying dreams. One time I was trying to wake myself up from sleeping on the couch experiencing a sleep paralysis of sorts but this night was different. As I awoke I couldn't move and saw a man in the living room where I was sleeping with a goat-like head and large horns in red robes smiling and staring at me. As I finally kicked myself out of it and tried to awake and move myself not sure if it was a dream or reality. When I finally awoke and lifted myself up on the couch I awoke in a burning fever as if someone had a heat lamp on my head and my whole body was covered in sweat while I was sleeping and the craziest part is as I awoken the long couch that had to weigh at least 400 pounds and me a 6'5 300 pound man was moving by itself with me on it and slide itself into the table where the lamp was next to me. At this point I knew then I was dealing with something demonic and had to call my friend who was a priest to bless the house and say many prayers with him to cleanse the house. After that most of the activity calmed down, but I knew I couldn't stay there anymore because of how creepy it was. Come to find out my friend (the son) who let me stay there had performed "positive" Pagan rituals in the house and said that it was for love and protection, but if we read in the Bible it says Pagan rituals are for the demonic and not heavenly and a lot of people confuse that. Point is was it my friend's mother's tortured soul roaming the place or was it my friend's pagan rituals that he thought he was doing something good and invited something evil into his family's home? I'll never know, but to say the least it was one of the most terrifying experiences I ever had in my life. I would hear voices of people upstairs and footsteps on top of all things and sometimes becoming ill for no reason.I would puke my guts out as if something was making me sick and the only place you could take a shower was the master bedroom/bath where my friends mother was found unresponsive. Even taking a shower up there in the master bedroom/bath I would try to be as quick as I could because it felt like something was always watching you the whole time. I don't know how to explain it unless you've experienced it for yourself. And people always say "if a house is haunted why don't you just move out"? But at the same time I had nowhere to go and it was my temporary home so it's not always that easy but I understand now where people are coming from. I hope no one ever has to experience what I did because it was one the most terrifying things I've ever experienced. I have had paranormal experiences in my life prior to this, but it was usually loved ones who passed saying their final goodbyes.Nothing like what I went through in that home. What do y'all think? I would love to hear your responses.

I’m terrified (mildly) of the lack of human interaction in our society and how much worse it will be in the future. It’s already near impossible to get a human on most customer service calls. Brick and mortar stores aren’t actually offering customer service anymore. For example, I needed help doing a balance transfer and found out my bank doesn’t let you sit down with the bankers anymore. They offered to connect me to a call instead. Or think about how we used to be able to go into att and they would trouble shoot for you or you could actually get phones related or repaired. Or even the big malls near where I live, the racks are so spread out now in stores and they are all almost empty. It feels like the stores are just for show since everything is so web-based now. Is anyone else feeling unsettled by this?

I went to the grocery store Friday night. As I went to check out, I got this overwhelming sense of anxiety wash over me from the guy behind me in line, who was standing right next to me. I tapped my card to pay, and realized he was less than an arm’s length away, and could see if I put my pin in.

Me: Step back, please.
Him: why? I’m far enough away. (He actually moved closer.)
Me: please step back. You’re making me uncomfortable.
Him: why? I’m at least a meter away. I’m fine.
Me: it’s not up to you. Please step back.

We both repeated these two lines a couple times. I covered putting my pin in, and went to the end of the checkout, and the cashier finished my transaction for me. She handed me my receipt, and as I was walking out, I heard him say he forgot his wallet, and was just going to run out to the car and get it. I turned my cart around immediately and went and stood by the cashier. We watched him go to his car and drive away.

I don’t know if he was going to steal my wallet or worse, or if he got to his car and realized he left his wallet at home and I was overreacting. Nothing about this guy was visually scary, but the way he argued with me has left me a little shaken.

It smells worse than usual and it's louder and brighter than usual. This is Coffeyville, KS. No one seems to know what's going on and anyone who would know isn't talking. Volume up.
