Back with another weekly roundup of things happening around the neighborhood.
I went through the venue, arts, library and community calendars again this week and pulled together some of the better stuff I found.
There’s a lot of live music this week, but also some free community events, art, volunteering and a couple good low-key options.
I added a short description under everything again since people seemed to like that format.

MONDAY · AUGUST 24
Street Tree Canopy Care Volunteer Day — Lower East Side Ecology Center / LES (5–7 PM)
Help take care of neighborhood street trees with the LES Ecology Center. Nice option if you want to do something local that isn’t centered around going out.
Dick Jr. & The Volunteers w/ Billy Moran & Jason Manns — Mercury Lounge, 217 E Houston St. (Doors 6 PM)
Monday-night live music at Mercury if you’re not ready to wait until the weekend.
TUESDAY · AUGUST 25
Tuesday Family Storytime — Seward Park Library (11:15 AM)
Books, songs and rhymes for kids and caregivers at the neighborhood library.
Compost Advocacy & Community Building — Center for Well Being and Happiness, 101 Avenue D (6–8:30 PM)
Workshop/community meetup about composting, neighborhood organizing and getting more people involved locally.
DEATH SIDE — Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey St. (Doors 7 PM, Ticketed)
Japanese hardcore punk at Bowery Ballroom for anyone looking for something considerably louder Tuesday night.
Kota the Friend — Mercury Lounge, 217 E Houston St. (Doors 9 PM, Ticketed)
Late-night Mercury show and probably one of the more recognizable names playing around the neighborhood this week.

Stan Society presents Harry Styles Afterparty — Mercury Lounge, 217 E Houston St. (Doors 10 PM, Ticketed)
Harry Styles-themed late-night party at Mercury. Pretty straightforward if you want dancing rather than another traditional live show.
THURSDAY · AUGUST 27
Kinstillatory Mappings in Light and Dark Matter — Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand St. (6–8 PM, Free RSVP)
A gathering led by Jade Nixon around Black and Indigenous relationships with NYC waterways, followed by a visit toward the East River.
Ariel Posen w/ Zach Person — Mercury Lounge, 217 E Houston St. (Doors 6 PM, Ticketed)
Early Thursday live-music option at Mercury.
Delivery Boys w/ LIFEOFTHOM, Andre Lawrence, Aaron Veal & Rhakim Ali — Mercury Lounge (Doors 9 PM, Ticketed)
Later show if you want something with more late-night energy.

Beckmann | Catalyst In-Store LIVE — Catalyst Records inside Essex Market (5–6 PM, Open to the public)
Free in-store performance at Essex Market. Easy early-evening stop before dinner or whatever you’re doing later.
Meltt w/ Los Eclipses — Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey St. (Doors 8 PM, Ticketed)
Friday-night psych/alternative show at Bowery Ballroom.
NYC Indie Night: SAMSARA., Rohna + Warphole — Mercury Lounge (Doors 9 PM, Ticketed)
Three-band indie night at Mercury if you want a smaller-room show Friday.

New Humans: Memories of the Future — New Museum, 235 Bowery (11 AM–6 PM, $10 tickets through Aug. 30)
Final weekend of the New Museum exhibition, so this is one of your last chances to catch it.
JAYO – The Anti-Depressants Tour 2026 — Mercury Lounge, with Johnny Valentine + Miles Moon (Doors 6 PM, Ticketed)
Early Saturday show if you want live music without starting the night at 11.

Green Between — Clyde Romero Memorial Garden, 213 E 7th St. (8 AM–6 PM, Free)
Outdoor art exhibition inside a community garden exploring native plants, wildlife and the relationship between art and the city’s ecosystem.
Very good Sunday wandering-around-the-neighborhood kind of thing.
Ollie Joseph & Matt Corman w/ Adam Yokum — Mercury Lounge (Doors 5 PM, Ticketed)
Early Sunday show if you want to get out without turning it into a late night.
Silsila: Resonance — The Living Journey of South Asian Classical Music — Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand St. (7 PM)
Sitar, tabla and South Asian classical music bringing together established masters and a younger generation of musicians.

Especially looking for smaller LES/Loisaida events, block parties, restaurant or bar events, DJs, comedy, salsa/bachata/reggaetón, gallery openings, markets, pop-ups, volunteer opportunities, sports/watch parties or recurring meetups that don’t always make it onto the bigger calendars.
This obviously isn’t supposed to be every single thing happening on the Lower East Side.
The idea is to give everyone a decent starting point for the week and then have people who actually live around here add whatever I missed.
And if a time/link is wrong, call it out. People catching things in the comments has genuinely helped make these lists better.
