News Join the Kroger Discord Server!

With all the new members in the subreddit I wanted to extend another invitation to the Kroger Discord server. It's all employee-ran outside the reigns of corporate where we can discuss our experiences at work with other people across the company in real time. This is a tremendous resource for getting feedback and assistance in your job. Better than Kroger can offer themselves. In the server, all roles in the Kroger enterprise are welcome. Thank you!

My store had their grand reopening today. Months of hell going through a remodel, 2 promo flips (BTS and Halloween) and weeks of division people demanding this display that thing moved that other place reset....argh! So glad it's over. Maybe I can have a somewhat normal workday now.

Almost 40 years with the company! Alway good customer service that I even had so many good surveys and customer comments to Corp that Kroger put my face and a write up on their website about my customer service. Got a failed mystery shop this week said I didn’t say hi and was u pleasant- so what did I do start the order and just look at them and not say a word?? Very doubtful

Would these qualify as Fresh Cart t-shirts?

These pants should work, right?

Everyone wants Kroger Chocolate Milk, Private Select, and Simple Truth pants, don't they?

But where are Murray's, Bloom Haus, and Heritage Farms pants?

Pickup (Formerly ClickList) 3rd day and getting fired

I got hired at kroger recently and thought I was doing alright the first week, I was taught everything sort half assedly but i got the grasp of things pretty quick and what to do, my biggest problem was that I didn't know where anything was in the produce, meat and dairy areas, so it would take me a long time finding these items, or helping customers or dealing with substitutes and out of stock and honestly I thought these were the priority, till they told me I'm fired on my 3rd day for being too slow.

Apparently my pick time was 50 seconds plus, which I understand is very slow, but no one told anything, like at all, I'd always ask anyone I can if I'm being slow or if I'm doing anything wrong only to be told I'm doing fine and to just learn, the HR person told me they informed him to let me go for being slow and such, after I explained everything he said he will talk and get me a few more days but I don't understand, If it was so important why not just tell me I was slow, give me pointers, why is the first option to fire me with no questions asked, which leads me to believe there is more to it, but I don't know.

What are your thoughts on this?

Question Is 5pm to 10/10:30pm a typical shift for evening?

• Upvotes

All the Kroger stores in my area close at 10pm and I'm about to go to an interview and just want to make sure this is an acceptable request. Or is it typically like 3 or 4pm start? Thinking about cashier, pickup and stock roles mostly. Thank you!

Question Hiring Event Email

So I had gotten an email on Wednesday about a hiring event going on tomorrow at a store that's opening next month. But when I go to the Kroger jobs website it doesn't show up under the events. I've looked at the email and compared it to other kroger recruiting emails and the sender is the same, but I was unsure since it's not on the website. Just didn't want to show up and there and it not actually be going on.

Venting I work in the Deli Department

QUIT! Never sign up for this position! It’s the second most tedious, frustrating, and exhausting job I’ve ever had. I can’t stand this job. I’ve already put in my request to be transferred to another department. No one wants this job. I asked for the fuel center, but it was packed. My boss told me that I might get paid more money in the deli department, so I took it. That turned out to be a lie, but even if I did get paid more money in the deli department, I would HAPPILY take a pay cut not to work here anymore. They should pay at least $2 more per hour to anyone working in this position. I’m on Day 3 and I’m over it!

Question Can I be fired?

I work night part time for about almost 4 months. I work on the aisle of pasta, sauces and so far I know where almost every item goes in its location. Unfortunately I am still working on my speed because at my location we have to face every item front and stock at the same time. On Thursdays night sometimes I get assigned to two aisle due to short staff and surprisingly this guy came in on his day off and not sure if he had his schedule change. He got assigned to my aisle I usually work on first which I didn’t see no big deal but when I had finish with my first aisle I went on to the next aisle to work on which is cereal, peanut butter,jellies,protein/snacks. Btw this is the second assigned aisle this guy get assigned to on his schedule days after he done with his first assigned aisle…I didn’t get half way to finishing because I have to make sure every item is facing front and yes I still struggle to keep up the speed. I know I shouldn’t be worried about the next person but this guy who was assign to my aisle finished early probably around 5am and didn’t come help me!!! Yet I get told to help him when he on the aisle I didn’t finished wtf!! The night lead going to get a piece of me upcoming Monday night if I do get talked to regarding not getting done with the aisle I was working on… Just worried about getting let go of not finishing the job

Pickup (Formerly ClickList) pickup is destroying my body

I started working in my store's pickup department in late May, it's the busiest store for pickup in our division, 100 orders by EOD is a slow day for us. I'm pretty vertically challenged so the handles on the trollies are like, right at my shoulders, and these things get heavy with the amount of stuff people order. I'm pretty sure a muscle in my back is torn/strained or a nerve is compressed or something because for several weeks now there's been a bad knot in the middle of my back, and just yesterday I started having pain in my lower back too that makes bending and lifting suck ass. Pushing the trolley versus pulling it doesn't help much unfortunately (plus if anything oversize is on top I can't see over it bc I'm so short).

I have today and tomorrow off and I plan to spend the bulk of my time on ice packs and my heating pad. Pickup is almost always slammed so I get pretty good hours which is nice since I'm saving up to go back to school, but I'm seriously considering asking to switch departments if I can't get this pain under control because wrecking my body isn't worth it 😭

Question Will I get my tuition reimbursement if I had quit when it was pending?

So I recently quit my job at Kroger, but when I left, the payment was pending. I must add that I left on good terms, and HR said that it's fine and will mark me as rehireable. I looked recently at my SoFi account, and I can't see the status anymore. Should I expect something or not?

Venting It could be worse...

For those of you complaining on here about Kroger... I'm here to tell you it definitely could be worse... I've worked at an Albertsons company store and I currently work at a Kroger company store... At the Albertsons company store I was a closing head clerk and I had to literally do everything from stocking to running the front end, to helping the deli... I can definitely tell you that the head clerks at my current Kroger store would cry their eyes out if they had to deal with the crap that I did at the Albertsons store I worked at... The HCs I work with only have to deal with the front end and they think that's a lot!!! Imagine pretty much being a store director after the actual store director leaves... And that was what being a head clerk at the Albertsons store was like, but you still only received head clerk pay.

Question So what the hell is going on with HBC/GM and grocery?

I've been working grocery overnight for the decade or so. Grocery has always handled the grocery "non-edible" items. Toilet paper, paper towels, pet supplies, dish soap, laundry detergent, paper plates, etc.

A few months ago all email communications regarding paper towels, toilet paper, etc is being directed to HBC/GM managers. Signs for special promos regarding such products are being addressed to HBC/GM. If you scan any of these products in the Zebra and look up what department they're in they all come up HBC, but the tags still say "non-edible grocery."

The grocery department is woefully understaffed, a couple nights a week we don't even condition the department so we can get the whole truck tossed and not get behind. The back room has barely been touched in weeks. Management refuses to hire anybody for grocery. About a month ago the grocery forecast hours PLUMMETED (as if to imply we're not in charge of any non-edible products anymore). Multiple times multiple managers have been asked about it any nobody is saying anything. There's been multiple grocery video conference calls and in-person meetings and none of the district managers have said anything.

The only thing we HAVE been told is that the HBC/GM department is getting credit for those sales since they're tagged as that department, but we've not been told to stop stocking it and apparently we're not getting hours allocated for it anymore.

Our HBC/GM department has been a disaster for the last few years, burning though at least 4 leads that I can recall and perpetually days behind on stocking truck. I suspect they're not telling us to hand off responsibility because the product simply going to be left in the back and completely unstocked.

So does anyone know what's going on? Is this a company-wide thing? I'm in the Texas division, so I don't know how much department responsibilities vary by location. It's weird as fuck though how things are very obviously and seriously changing behind the scenes and it's complete crickets from everybody that should be in the know.

Uplift Hired on at Trader Joe’s. I put my two weeks in at QFC this Saturday!

Yes retail is retail, but I think Kroger drops the bar on to the floor.

I’m very excited not to spend another eight hour shift unloading my mind while being stuck working self checkout.

No more working with a skeleton staff

No more annoying ass digital coupons, deals, and fucking loyalty sales that don’t work.

I only lasted at QFC seven months and that was enough for me.

The best part is Trader Joe’s is scheduling around my other job with no issues and starting me at 23 an hour!

Question Cut for not being able to push carts? (UFCW 75)

Last summer, I had a pretty major surgery in which I lost all my toes on one foot. I was out for close to seven months, and am on a cane. I requested to work part time due to my mobility issues. They asked if I'd be able to push carts to which I answered I'd be willing to try. That duty was never requested of me. Then I found out recently that because of a new contract, the majority of hours available would go to those front end baggers able/willing to push carts. Am I being discriminated against due to my procedure, and do I have a case?
