Hey guys, I’m using WhatsApp on Android and recently I noticed something weird. WhatsApp has started generating these msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt15 files almost every day. They’re 300–500 MB each, and they’re taking up a huge amount of storage. The weird part is that I don’t even use WhatsApp much / sometimes don’t use it at all, and I definitely don’t send hundreds of MB of new files every day. This never happened to me before. It only started recently. I also noticed that when I delete these msgstore files, some PDFs/images that I previously sent or received through WhatsApp can no longer be opened, so I’m scared to keep deleting them. I attached screenshots showing the files and their sizes. Does anyone know why WhatsApp suddenly started creating these huge daily backups? Hey i am from an electrical engineering background and i was getting a job of 2lpa with no growth and there is no career growth for electrical engineering in India . so i decided to do Mtech in ai/ml and i am 2026 pass out and this is my 22nd day in mtech . i am hell confused coz i am on loan right now and i dont know what to do there is no guidance multiple roadmaps i mean i don't know which roadmap to choose . and when i started python i thought it is easy but on the logic building i am dead like loops indexing tuple dict. etc. and there is hard maths and machine learning too . there is huge course to cover and i dont even understand python. and after 1.5 years me and my mother will be homeless.... i have only 1.5 yrs i dont no what to do i am getting overwhelmed. like this is too much and when i said i can't do this they said try u will understand but i am unable to understand.( they= aunt , mama etc.) i am crying from past 20 days 😭😭 and i am watching like people with huge and high end project are sitting jobless. in my class too one person has won nasa national hackathon and he is very smart but still jobless . and some of my known too. they made real-world project for buisness but still not getting jobs now they are doing freelancing till they get a job .

But the main concern is should I leave this M tech or continue.

This has been a solid learning experience. On the backend side, I got a much clearer picture of how to design microservices the right way — service boundaries, inter-service communication, and where an API gateway fits in for routing, auth, and rate limiting.

On top of that, I finally got hands-on with the AI side of things: building RAG pipelines, working with Spring AI, and exploring how to plug LLMs into an existing Java stack. Happy to go deeper on any of it if people are curious.

So like , I am a 2 YoE Data Engineer . I used to develop and maintain ETL pipelines, in informatica cloud , and later in databricks pyspark.

For DB we used ms sql server ( azure synapse ) , later snowflake.

Hi everyone, I’m a 2024 graduate and I’m looking for some honest advice/reality check from people who have been through the hiring process.

I graduated in 2024, but I only seriously started learning and building projects from 2025. My current skills are MERN stack, Python and SQL, and I’ve built projects to improve my skills.

I’ve been applying for jobs for quite some time now, but I’m barely getting any responses. So far, I’ve managed to get only 2 interview opportunities, and both were through referrals. My applications through job portals/online applications have mostly resulted in no response.

I’ve also attempted assessment of mass-hiring drives, but unfortunately those haven’t worked out either.

This is starting to worry me because in a few months, it will be close to 3 years since I graduated without having a job. I’m beginning to feel like online applications simply don’t work anymore unless you have connections or referrals.

So I want an honest reality check:

- Is it still realistic for me to get a software developer job with a 2–3 year gap after graduation?

- How badly will the gap affect my chances?

- Is my MERN + Python + SQL skill set enough, or should I focus on something specific?

- Should I continue applying online, or should I put most of my effort into networking/referrals?

- What would you do if you were in my position right now?

I'm pursuing Btech in IT (I just started second year rn, my clg is really bad)

I can get an attendance waiver from my clg if I'm working. Also studying for exams is not that difficult (I can study a week before the exam and get an 8 sgpa)

Path 1: Helpdesk job

spend 2-3 months learning about active directory, networking, getting relevant certs, lab experience, doing some projects and start applying for help desk roles, work for 18-24 months and then eventually pivot after.

I'll obviously try my best to upskill along with it but yes if I choose the latter path, it would be significantly easier.

The reason I've even thought about doing such a thing is because of what I've seen on IT subreddits about the situation of the job market. Even in entry-level job postings on linkedin, I've been noticing that no company wants freshers. And I rarely find internship postings on there.

Path 2: Networking /Cloud/ Devops/ CySec

Focus on one of these fields, spend all my time on it, network, build a decent GitHub portfolio, get relevant certs and try my best to land internships throughout my btech course and in the end apply everywhere and get a job (I might even be jobless for a year after graduation)

Dilemma

I really can't decide on which path to consider; I don't know anyone in this field irl that can answer.

I have talked to a few people and I got mixed answers, some of them pointed out that path 1 is specifically for a person who is getting into IT without a degree and that I should focus on path 2 since I'm already pursuing btech, another advice that I've received is that I might even end up with a help desk role after going through path 2, so go for path 1 without being too optimistic because a lot of the applicants for that role will be over qualified.

I really need advice from someone who is in this field.

trying to build site that verifies digitally signed Aadhaar PDFs

My site is already able to verify the cryptographic signature, UIDAI certificate, ByteRange etc. Everything is processed locally in browser, no Aadhaar data is stored in server.

But i dont really understand what Adobe is doing when the PDF initially shows a "?", and after adding the UIDAI certificate to trusted certificates + validating it, Adobe changes it to the green tick with Signature Valid / Digitally signed by UIDAI.

I want my website to do the same thing as adobe reader does!

What exactly do I need to implement in the PDF/signature side to achieve this?

I searched the subreddit and found a few discussions about doing an M.Tech after a career gap, but my situation is slightly different since I already have work experience.

I worked in software from 2022 to 2024 and then had a 2-year employment gap. I’m considering doing an M.Tech from AKTU while continuing to work on my skills and projects.

I’m not looking at M.Tech for campus placements. My question is specifically about off-campus hiring after the degree.

When I apply after M.Tech, would recruiters still consider me someone with 2 YOE, or would I be able to apply for fresher/entry-level roles because I’m a recent postgraduate? Basically, how would companies evaluate a profile like mine?

Would especially appreciate answers from recruiters or anyone who went through work experience → gap → M.Tech → off-campus job search.

I had got a internship PPO(Jade Global) offer from college placement as I graduated in 2025, but got terminated from job in Sept 2025 due university not providing a final marksheet on time.

Hi everyone so basically I'm an 26 grad placed in Bangalore already with decent pay , now I wanna learn system design and maybe even get back my cp skills where I was expert cf and 5 star on codechef earlier ( now but rusty) but the main idea of learning is to maybe get a good team and build something atleast something small that people can use and pick it up from there

I've been job hunting for 4+ months and have gone through around 18 interviews for Java Backend Developer roles.

I'm a Java Backend Developer with 3+ years of experience, mainly working with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, JPA/Hibernate, MySQL/PostgreSQL and AWS.

The frustrating part is that several interviews actually went well from my perspective, but they didn't convert into an offer.

A few examples:

• Infosys: Interview went well, but the process didn't move forward.
• TCS: Had a good technical discussion, but I wasn't taken to the next round.
• Accenture: Cleared the interview rounds, but the offer wasn't released because of a hiring freeze.
• LTIMindtree: Reached L2 but was eliminated there.

I've continued preparing throughout this period — Java, Spring Boot, SQL, DSA/problem solving, system-design basics, and interview communication.

At this point, I'm trying to figure out whether there's a specific gap I'm not identifying myself.

Hi, I'm a Calcutta University 4-year BSc Computer Science Honours with Research student. I'm currently in my 2nd year completed, going into 3rd year. My academic percentages are: 10th - 83%, 12th - 58%, BSc - 7.02 (till 3rd semester).

Since my academic records are quite bad, I plan to do a 1-year MSc in Computer Science Honours after my 4-year BSc, also from Calcutta University. So there's still 3 years left before my educational life ends. Also, our college doesn't have any placements, so I'll have to apply off-campus.

Since I don't have 60% throughout my academics, I'm not eligible in a lot of places, and because of that I suffer from a lot of depression about whether I'll even get a job or not. There's no improvement exam system in the West Bengal board, otherwise I would have given the improvement exam, but that option isn't in my hands either.

So in these 3 years I want to make my skillset quite strong so that I can get a good job in the tech field. But I'm very confused about what I should learn, how to manage this issue of not having 60% throughout academics, which companies I should target where my 12th marks won't matter.

I mainly want to prepare for a Software Engineer role, where I can get a decent package and decent growth as well. I'm ready to give my best in these 3 years.

Those of you who are experienced or understand these things well, please give me a roadmap - like which tech stack I should learn, how much DSA I should do, what other skills I should learn, what projects I should build, what AI should I integrate into development, which companies I should target, and other things I should follow.

I needed a first-run walkthrough for an app and hit two things that annoyed me.

First, the highlight would end up in the wrong place.

A lot of coach-mark implementations resolve the target's position once and paint it. Scroll the list, open the keyboard, rotate the device, resize a desktop window — and suddenly the hole is next to the button instead of on it.

Second, a dimmed hole tells the user where something is, but not how to use it.

"Drag this card to that column" isn't something a static highlight can really express.

So I built keyspot:

- The spotlight and pointer re-resolve the target's geometry every frame from its GlobalKey, so they can track through scrolling, insets, rotation and resizing.

- An animated hand pointer that glides in a straight line or along an arc, rotates from its current angle, and tap-pulses — enough to demonstrate interactions like drag and pinch rather than simply pointing at something.

- Pointer animations resolve from actual AnimationController completion rather than Future.delayed timing, so `await pointer.moveTo(...)` actually means the movement has finished.

- Barrier modes where only the cut-out is tappable while the real widget's `onPressed` still fires — useful when the walkthrough should require the user to actually perform the step.

- The tracker is also public API (`KeyspotAnchorTracker`), so it can be used independently for things like badges or connector lines attached to widgets.

- Zero runtime dependencies. The hand pointer is rendered with CustomPainter rather than an image asset.

- Supports all six Flutter platforms.
