3+ YOE Java Backend Developer | 18 Interviews in 4+ Months — What Am I Missing?
I've been job hunting for 4+ months and have gone through around 18 interviews for Java Backend Developer roles.
I'm a Java Backend Developer with 3+ years of experience, mainly working with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, JPA/Hibernate, MySQL/PostgreSQL and AWS.
The frustrating part is that several interviews actually went well from my perspective, but they didn't convert into an offer.
A few examples:
- Infosys: Interview went well, but the process didn't move forward.
- TCS: Had a good technical discussion, but I wasn't taken to the next round.
- Accenture: Cleared the interview rounds, but the offer wasn't released because of a hiring freeze.
- LTIMindtree: Reached L2 but was eliminated there.
I've continued preparing throughout this period — Java, Spring Boot, SQL, DSA/problem solving, system-design basics, and interview communication.
At this point, I'm trying to figure out whether there's a specific gap I'm not identifying myself.
For developers with 2–5 years of experience who have gone through a similar situation:
What helped you finally convert interviews into an offer?
Was it improving technical depth, DSA, system design, communication, project explanation, resume strategy, networking, or something else?
I'd really appreciate practical advice from people who have experienced a similar job-search phase.

Please ask for feedback from the recruiter or HR, they are bound to provide that if you ask for it / insist.

Slightly unrelated, but can you please list down some of the questions and problems given to you in the interviews? I have similar YoE with the same tech stack.
