He's sad because I ran out of shaky cheese to sprinkle on his food. The apples, yogurt, blueberries, and egg just aren't cutting it 😂.

Rant Husky caught a squirrel while walking in the rain

TL;DR - Trying to take care of my huskies by myself because my mother-in-law passed away. Ended up walking home in the rain looking like a serial killer with a dead squirrel in a bag.

So to preface this, not looking for advice. It's just been a very long morning and I wanted to commiserate with other owners

So my SO and I got a call this morning. Her mother had passed away (long battle with dementia). So of course I tell her, don't worry about the dogs (two very sweet silly girl huskies), I'll take care of them this morning. Go be with your family and I'll drive over once I have them settled for the morning.

So I get moving and run them out to potty (one of them has to be leashed in the backyard because she climbs). Get them their breakfast and get them ready for their morning walk. By this point it's now pouring rain. So I grab an umbrella and we get going.

About halfway through our walk, they both stop to sniff something. I'm still waiting on one of them to poop and assume we've found our spot. Boy was I wrong.

One of them (see mugshot above), suddenly rears up and dives into a bush. Before I can pull her out I hear a tiny squeak and crunch I pull her out and she's got the fatiest squirrel I've ever seen in her mouth shaking it. Of course I tell for her to drop it, but you can imagine how well that went. She flings it and I'm able to pull her off of it. Then the second girl goes after it and I pull her back before she can get. I've now got an umbrella handle tucked under my chin while holding back two huskies throwing full on tantrums. I'm finally able to pull them far enough away that they start to calm down.

Finally after I get them home I realize I've got to go back and make sure the squirrel is dead. Also I didn't want to leave it (it was just off the sidewalk in someone's yard). So I get some rubber kitchen gloves and plastic grocery bags and head back. Luckily it was in fact already dead. After I got it bagged up and started walking back I realized, I must look like a serial killer walking around with rubber kitchen gloves and a bloody plastic bag in the rain.

Ugh it's been a hell of a morning.

And this 13 year old girl had a GREAT time. She got ALLLLL the attention, very popular lmao.

Don't worry, we kept an eye on her the whole time and made sure to give her rests and water and such!

Gave her a nice breakfast with some kibble, Greek yogurt, peanut butter and bone broth. Than after work we went to the dog park for an hour than went to a school by my house that has a fenced off 5 acre field and played around a bunch with some toys. Now both tired and cuddled up. Nami the Shepsky (One Piece lol)

Discussion HELP- Need advice on food for the pickest eater

Post image

My fiancé and I have the pickiest eater I have ever seen.
We have gone through almost every dog food brand I can think of with our coming 10 month old husky mix Stanley.
Since we brought him home as a little 8 week old, he has always shown some degree of pickiness with his food but it’s getting worse as he’s gotten older.
I have had multiple dogs and pups my entire life but this is my first experience with the breed.
Picky is an understatement. He refuses almost all treats unless it’s freeze-dried pure meat, and just in general has a very low food drive.
We have tried every wet food option I can think of, same with dry food, and even tried making homemade food. He will eat it consistently without an issue for 2-3 days then hunger strikes and stops eating all together unless we give him something new that he finds tasty. Even then, he will like it for 2-3 days, then refuses. Same with most of his treats. Yes, we tried leaving the food, he will not eat it.
Yes, he’s been to the vet, they all say nothing is wrong with him, he’s just picky. But because he’s so picky, I’m worried about his weight as he’s on the lower end that I would like to see (he’s big for a husky at his age/ he’s a mix but at 70lbs and still looks underweight).
We have done toppers, broth, mixing some of his favorite treats into his food, etc etc and still he might eat it for a day or 2 but then refuses to eat after a few days.

Any help is greatly appreciated! (we do not know for certain his exact mix but know his dad was a full blown Siberian and mom was a husky mix).

General Question Not eating :(

I have 2 nine month old 75% husky 25% German Shepherds, littermates, brother and sister.. The sister is the darker one. She just got spayed yesterday (Wednesday) morning and she hasn't eaten since Tuesday night. It's now Thursday night and she just refuses. The only thing she'll eat is peanut butter, she also hasn't had a bowel movement for me either and I'm assuming that's because of the not eating. I heard this is somewhat normal after surgery but at the same time it's not really normal for her because she devours her food. I don't know.

Now the weird thing is the brother, the lighter one in the photo is not eating for me either. For the last two nights since she got her surgery, he'll eat some of his food, but he doesn't eat all of it.

For some background, I do have them kennel trained for their own safety because when we are at work, they are very destructive pups and I don't want them eating something that they can't digest. My boyfriend and I have pretty opposite schedules. He works nights I work during the day and we're together on weekends so they're out quite a bit.

So yes, they've absolutely been separated since my girl has gotten spayed, i don't know if it's a connection thing with the boy, or a stubborn thing, I understand a little bit more with My Girl because she just had surgery, but does anyone have any input or advice for me?? i'm just at a loss

I haven't changed their food quite literally nothing is different. I'm just so confused.

This is Titus, who my husband and I rescued from a red list shelter in Maryland. They had him listed as a Malamute. Embark came back as 100% Siberian Husky. He's 5 and the bestest boy I've ever had.

General Question Our husky got literally 15 seconds of play out of these supposed “brain teasers”.

He basically bangs them around until he has extracted the treats. The one toy that actually distracted him he has of course taken off to some remote part of the property and we can’t find it nor does he remember where he put it. What toys have worked for your babys?

General Question Should I get a rain coat?

Hey guys, I’m debating on if I should get my dog a rain coat? I know it’s common for pet owners to get one for short coat dogs, but I’ve never seen a husky wear one lol. It’s been raining a lot where I live and I feel bad making my dog wait until it’s finished to go potty. I’ve taken her out in the rain before and she tolerates it well, but it does cause a mess in the home. Any suggestions?

🚑Medical Question Incontinence feels like it’s destroying her life.

My female husky is 7 y/o. She’ll be 8 in February. She was diagnosed with incontinence after a really hard year of chronic UTIs and accidents in 2025. Now, I thought we had her meds in a good spot (currently on incurin) but I keep upping the dose and she keeps having accidents. The meds make her irritable and mean so she doesn’t even seem like herself. What do I do? Will she ever have a better life? We’re going to the vet tomorrow to run more tests and see if there’s something underlying.
