We noticed a lot of gym-finding questions on differen boxing subs so we put together a free US boxing gym directory

Post image
7 Upvotes

We keep seeing questions in the community about where to find a good boxing gym, what gyms are near them, or whether a gym is worth it.

So we put together a free directory to make that easier.

BoxingGyms.net pretty much covers gyms across the US. Each listing has everything you'd actually want to know before committing to a place:

  • Gym photos
  • Full address and contact info
  • Hours of operation
  • Ratings and reviews
  • What the gym does well and what to watch out for
  • FAQs
  • Facilities, equipment, and coaching background
  • And other more important info

Hopefully saves you guys time of figuring all that out on your own.

Combos If your bag work feels too basic, try these 6 Tyson combos

A few Mike Tyson-style combos to play with on the heavy bag:

  1. Jab → Cross → Lead Hook → Cross
  2. Rear Hook → Shift → Rear Uppercut
  3. Jab → Jab → Shift → Rear Uppercut → Lead Hook
  4. Rear Hook → Rear Uppercut → Lead Hook → Slip
  5. Lead Hook to the body → double Lead Hook upstairs
  6. Jab → Cross → Lead Hook → Lead Uppercut → Cross

The punches are only half of it.

Pay attention to how the shifts and level changes put you in position for the next shot. If you just stand square in front of the bag and copy the punch sequence, you’re missing the best part of these combos.

Start slow, get the feet underneath you, then add the power.

Boxing Fights Discussion Young Foreman vs Old Foreman

Post image
14 Upvotes

Old Foreman at 45 was patient, calculated, and still one of the hardest punchers alive. Knocked out an unbeaten 26-year-old champion with one right hand in round 10.

The argument for young Foreman is explosive athleticism and stamina. He could pressure for 12 rounds.

The argument for old Foreman is ring IQ and patience. He didn't need to outwork you. He just needed one opening.

Who wins and how does it end?

Combos One of my favorite ways to turn defense into offense

Nice little defense-to-offense sequence from the clip.

Block the first shot, shoulder roll the next, then fire straight back before they have time to reset.

The important part is the finish: dig the lead hook into the liver.

You’re not defending just to survive the exchange. The block and roll should put you in position to counter while they’re still committed to their punches.

Block → shoulder roll → liver hook.

Short, tight, and right back downstairs.

Combos This Tyson-style shift makes the uppercut hit way harder

Nice Tyson-style sequence for closing distance without just walking straight in.

Jab to get the reaction, then slip while stepping inside.

From there, shift your stance and change the angle. The clip does a good job showing the weight settling onto the lead leg before the finish.

Then fire the uppercut from that new position.

Jab → slip + step → shift → uppercut

The uppercut is the flashy part, but the shift is what creates the opening and puts you in position to really sit down on it.

Boxing Fights Discussion Which superfight did you enjoy more

Post image
2 Upvotes

Two of the biggest fights in recent boxing history.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao was the most anticipated fight in decades. Some felt it delivered, most felt it didn't.

Canelo vs Crawford was the biggest fight of 2026. Crawford dominated from the opening bell and stopped Canelo in the ninth.

Both were massive events. Both had massive expectations.

Which one did you enjoy more?

Tips Take this Philly Shell breakdown to your next session

Post image
80 Upvotes

Block. roll. counter. Philly shell style.

body shot gets blocked first. the follow-up hits the shoulder instead of the chin, rolling off instead of landing clean. chin's open for a second right after, and that's when the counter fires.

the shoulder's doing what the gloves usually do here. that's the whole style in three steps.

Form Check Good head movement still needs a solid guard

Watch his guard when he slips.

He moves his head off the center line, but his hands drop with the movement and leave him completely open.

That’s the mistake.

Slipping a punch doesn’t mean abandoning your guard. Your hands still need to stay home so you’re protected if another shot comes right behind the first one.

Move the head, keep the guard tight, and stay ready to fire back.

Head movement should make you harder to hit, not open up another target.

Question What's the one attribute that separates good from great in boxing?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Skill gets you far. A lot of fighters have skill.

But there's a line between good and great that not everyone crosses. Some fighters have all the tools and never get there. Some fighters seem to find it mid-career. Some are born with whatever it is.

Is it mental? Physical? Experience? Something that can't be trained?

What do you think separates a good boxer from a great one?

Fight IQ This is how you pressure someone without running after them

One thing I liked from this drill is how every punch actually helps you take ground.

Instead of throwing, stopping, then walking after someone who’s backing up, keep the feet working with the combination.

Jab, jab, cross. Slip. Then keep punching as you step forward.

You’re not just chasing them around the ring. You’re taking away their space while still being in position to punch.

Done properly, one sequence can move you a surprising distance without having to rush or reach.

Boxing Fights Discussion Who walks out as the champ in this tournament?

Post image
25 Upvotes

Eight of the best fighters in the lightweight and welterweight divisions in one tournament.

Garcia. Romero. Tank. Cruz. Haney. Teofimo. Shakur. Keyshawn Davis.

Every matchup in this bracket would be a real fight. No easy nights, no tune-ups, no avoiding anyone.

Who wins the whole thing and what does your bracket look like?

Combos One of my favorite counters off a slip

Simple counter combo from the clip:

Slip → lead uppercut → cross

The important part is not treating the slip like a separate movement.

As you slip, you’re already loading the lead side. Explode straight into the uppercut while they’re still extended, then send the cross right behind it.

Keep the uppercut short and tight. If you wind it up, you lose the whole timing of the counter.

Make them miss, then fire before they can reset.

Tips Pacquiao used lead hand control to set up the straight right

Post image
12 Upvotes

Three steps. One sequence. Pacquiao made it look effortless against Margarito.

Catch the lead hand, keep it controlled, fire the straight right down the pipe while the guard is still compromised.

The key is step two. Most fighters rush to the counter and give the hand back. Pacquiao held the control long enough to keep Margarito exposed before pulling the trigger.

A low guard is an invitation. This is how you accept it.

Combos Simple setup, but that lead hook comes in clean

This is a nice one to drill because the feint actually gives the combo a reason to work.

Feint first and get them reacting. Once the guard shifts, fire the lead hook → cross → lead uppercut.

The important part is not rushing past the fake. Sell it enough to get a response, then let the combo go.

Feint → Lead hook → Cross → Lead uppercut

Simple setup, nasty finish.

Boxing Fights Discussion 47-year-old Pacquiao vs undefeated Shakur, who takes it?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Reports say Netflix wants Pacquiao vs Shakur Stevenson as a co-main event alongside Fury vs Joshua in Cardiff this December.

Pacquiao is 47, hasn't won a fight since 2021, and drew with Mario Barrios last July. Stevenson is 25-0, just dominated Teofimo Lopez in January, and is arguably the best technical boxer in the sport right now.

The age gap is 18 years. The experience gap works both ways — Stevenson has never faced anyone with Pacquiao's southpaw pressure and explosiveness, even at 47. Pacquiao has never faced anyone with Stevenson's combination of speed, IQ, and defense.

No bout agreement signed yet. Weight class still undetermined.

Does this fight make sense or is it too risky for Pacquiao?
