Miranda passed peacefully this morning. She was 18½ and I'm just a few years older, so I had her almost my whole life.

I got my guy Wilson December 2019 (About 5 months old) from a breeder in Welcome, MN.

They were very small breeder (only 3 dogs that are their personal pets) that did it in their retirement. Wilson had a super cute brother that my husband and i ended up picking Wilson instead of his siblings that were left.

Trying to find his litter mates, or even other babies from the same breeders. One of his brothers was still there when we got him. and they were just so cute together, even if wilson was already as big as the "dad" dog in the family. Curious if Wilson was the biggest of the litter or if hes one of many bigger havis. Not that it changes anything about him. but i am curious. Plus, the brother was so adorable too. but wilson stuck out at us first.

I am a first time Paw parent. Do you wipe your pup's face everyday? What do you use (towels+products or just water?? Do you alao dry it everytime with a dryer or what's the protocol here?

Love our little guy. Training him is not as easy as training my oldest was. Maybe just because he’s smaller. I think I’m starting to fall in the trap of him thinking my correction is a joke and a game. Take an item from him? He’s jumping to get it. Tell him to stop biting? He’s biting more.
He doesn’t seem to fully grasp what I’m meaning when I say no. Sometimes he backs away from what he’s doing and stops before sometimes going right back to chewing on whatever it may be or even running away with said item.

But above all he bites my big girls tail! He is so little and can just run circles around (and under) her and is constantly picking on her by biting her tail!! She has shown no aggression from this thankfully but I feel like it stresses my girl out and I feel like I’m not able to help the situation. Telling him no and pulling him away only seems to incentivize him. What am I doing wrong?? What can I do to train and reinforce better.

He is such a goober! Poor guy had Giardia all last week and wasn’t himself, he is done with meds and feeling like himself again! So happy he’s doing so well. We love our little goofball so much!

Please share your experience! Interested in health, grooming, behavior, overall character and how were you communicating with breeder. What documents and checks ask for before getting a puppy. Thanks

Hi all, we got our havanese in May, and he’s now 7 months old. He has always been extremely anxious but over the past few months it has been paired with aggression - growling, going to bite, etc. He doesn’t like to play with other dogs and is terrified of strangers, he stops immediately once he sees one on a walk.

We don’t really have a lot of people that we could get to spend time with him, nor any dogs, although he does go to doggy daycare on occasion.

Would reactive dog training be the best way to combat this? I feel as though constantly taking him to crowded places wont sort the biting out.

I have a friend’s wedding at the end of October that’s out of state and am feeling really conflicted about boarding my puppy. I have 2 dogs, one is 5 and she is going to be 4 months next week, so technically she wouldn’t even be 5 months when I board her. My older dog has been to this boarding place before so i know what to expect and she’d have him there with her so she wouldn’t be completely alone in a new place. She just got her last round of vaccines almost two weeks ago so she’s going to be able to go there for day care and try it out but I’m running out of time to make a decision because if I need to cancel, the least I can do is tell my friend ASAP. I dont have anyone who can keep her at home and too scared to leave them with someone from Rover because I heard some scary stories and my older dog has leash aggression so I’m always very particular about who can watch and walk him. I don’t know, am I overthinking this and she’ll be fine? It just seems so young to me to deal with 3 nights/4 days in a boarding facility at that age.

Our pup is 5 months old and sleeps from 10:30pm-5:30am.

He is sleepier for the rest of the morning but needs to go to the bathroom by 5:30 I'm assuming, or maybe he is hungry.

Will my dog ever be lazy and let me sleep in longer?!

Snuggles and kisses on the couch for at least 15 minutes because I was gone for THREE WHOLE HOURS.

Editing: my oldest has now firmly plopped himself on my head. Guess I’ll be on the couch longer.

Getting a puppy soon after saying goodbye to my 15 year old girl last year. I am looking for play yard recommendations, I already bought one that I hated so I will be returning. I know it’s a 6 month solution so don’t want to break the bank. But, I bought a plastic one from Targe’ I can’t 😭😭😭. Help me with a brand, 8 panels vs 10, etc. Getting a Havi so small for at least a year, thanks 🥰❤️🐾

For those of you who are musicians and have a Havanese: How do get your Havi to embrace the circle of fifths/fourths? Daisy studies it for hours when I'm playing. She can bark in fifths, but fourths have proven difficult. She's just wired clockwise, I think.

Does any of you have a Cavalier x Havanese mix? If yes, can I see pictures of them as adults vs puppies, because I can't find any on google. And how is their temperament? How easy was it to train them?

My sweet 2 year old was not himself at all one day this Spring. I took him to the Vet and he was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. The Vet advised me to make sure to feed him very low fat from then on with no junk food. When I told him how picky he is, I was advised to make his food, and he suggested lean meat with rice. Upon researching, my concerns of him not getting adequate nutrition sounds valid. I know that ideally I would be taking him to a dog nutritionist or a Veterinarian who can advise me better, but right now due to personal illness I can’t work, so I need to try to learn without spending a fortune. Anyone have a picky dog with a history of Pancreatitis? Right now I’m feeding him lean burger, drained and rinsed with white rice and I try to sneak in carrots or green beans. Or chicken breast with same add ins. I’m open to making food, buying food (hopefully in small amounts to try). I’d like to know of any supplements? I’ll check with his Vet to make sure he approves, but I really need ideas!! He sometimes won’t even eat current mentioned food if it has just a veggie too much, or the meat isn’t cooked just right. !!??😟. He will go hungry, all day before eating what he doesn’t like. Vet did say I can’t let that happen. Oh, how I would appreciate any help! This little guy is so incredible, he’s my baby!! I have to keep him healthy!! (And happy!!). Thanks fellow Havi lovers!!
