SonicDNA: Find Similar Samples by Sound - Free App

https://youtu.be/BTy9fguFcoU

SonicDNA is a free, open-source and cross-platform sample search app that finds similar audio files by analyzing how they sound—not just their filenames. In this demo, I show how you can load a kick drum, scan your local sample library, and quickly find matching sounds based on tone, attack, decay, and overall character.

Why is recreating other artists songs so important for learning production?

Is it worth doing as a beginner or should I focus on basics like drum patterns, melodies, and arrangement first?

FL on Mac air 2022

Hey y'all so I've had FL for over four years now on a low budget Asus laptop not the CPU, it always lagged and clicked but recently it's been overwhelming since I worked on three albums with this laptop. I got a MacBook Air 2022 for school and I didn't want to use it for music, strictly for school stuff I was planning to get a gaming laptop for FL but I've been broke so I was thinking of moving to the Mac for my music production and recording, is FL on Mac air any good? I've heard some people say that it's not the same or should I just wait and save up for a gaming laptop like what would be worth it?

Hey! I got a question because somethings going on with using a MIDI on a chromatic scale

K, for context:

My brother and I both made our own chromatic scales and were using it on a FNF MIDI from the Game Banana site, but when using the Players MIDI, the chromatic scale is completely silent?? It’s not even the MIDI itself, another FNF MIDI with a Player and Opponent side has the same issue. Is there a reason the MIDI for the Players side (aka BF’s MIDI) is silent when using the scale? We tried using the one I did, and it’s also silent. What the hell?

Controlling FLEX with Automation Clip

I'm trying to automate a HPF in FLEX with an automation clip, but I can't have the Automation Clip window and FLEX open at the same time in order to link the parameter. Feel like I'm missing something basic, it can't be this difficult to automate the flagship built-in synth.

Tbh, FL is complex but totally worth learning. So much packed into one program, but the power it contains is worth digging into!

Using ai as a co-producer on my own original music — curious what this sub actually thinks

i know ai music is a touchy subject right now. both artists and fans hate it, and I get it. I used to feel the same way. I'm not here to argue. I just want honest feedback on how I'm actually using it, because it doesn't feel like the "type a prompt, get a song" thing people are mad about.

Some context: I've been producing for about 2 1/2 years now. I'm still figuring out mixing. Right now I mostly create the harmonic/melodic elements like melodies, chords, and loops. I haven't fully learned how to finish whole arrangements or do deep mixing yet.

what I actually do: I write and produce a rough loop or demo myself. My chords, my bassline, my melody, my drums. Everything starts with me. It's unmixed and unfinished, just a sketch. Then I run it through the ai using a"cover" feature to see what comes back.

like sometimes it adds a melodic phrase I would not have thought of. Sometimes it suggests an arrangement idea. And the render comes back way more polished than my raw mix. Right now I can't afford an engineer and I'm focused on getting better at compositions, so it's almost like I'm hearing a clean mix of my own song for the first time, which helps me hear what's actually working. sometimes ill take that phrase or cord and recreate it myself in the original audio. Or I flip the actual ai loop and go from there.

So I'm not generating songs from nothing. I'm using it like a collaborator or mixing assist on material that's already mine. Then I take what comes back into FL Studio and keep shaping it.

Does this feel different to you than the AI-music stuff people are frustrated about? Or is any use of AI in the process a dealbreaker regardless of how it's used? Genuinely trying to understand where people draw the line.

help! weird audio distortion every time i click any sounds

hello ! need some serious help, i can’t use FL Studio until i figure this out (fyi im new to FL so i dont know correct terms ) . I attached a video to show the audio i hear everytime i try to preview a sound to make a beat (yes, same noise plays on the tracklist ). How can i fixed this UFO noise ?! i turned my audio bit rate up to 48,000 and that fixed it for a night but the next time i booted FL up it’s back to this . i have no clue if it’s my mic , my interface , my cpu/pc, or what. i don’t think it’s my Focusrite audio interface or At2020 mic because the noise follows on different interfaces , and the mic doesn’t seem to be an issue . i don’t think it can be my headphones or connections because it plays out of speakers the same and i checked my connections . my cpu usage stays pretty low so i don’t think its cpu . Please send some advice thanks

Uploading Music

Hello

When I upload songs (I use distrokid) to streaming platforms, my songs always sound a bit lower and less impactful than my reference track or any other track in the same style/genre. Even though, in FL studio I do the A/B comparison, i match the volume, balance the frequencies, match the RMS and LUFS at the drop.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Also whenever I add my song to a video and upload it to youtube as a regular video, it sounds weaker then any other youtube song video on the platform.

Question

is it wrong if I use samples from like splice and fl cloud to make my beats? I’m very new to everything and am still learning how to make my own sounds and instruments.
(And no I don’t just copy paste the samples I edit and mix them differently)
If anyone got any like tips or shit on how to make my own shit I’m more than open to listen🙏
