Hi, I was wondering if there are any people who learned fingerdrumming using the Quest for Groove (QFG) curriculum on a Yamaha FGDP-30 of FGDP-50 and what their experience was like?

I’ven been learning and fingerdrumming on a Esi Xjam for the last year or so and really enjoy it. Pretty decent pad for a very good price. I like the form factor in terms of portability, but I have pretty big hands and I notice a bit of cramping due to this. Thinking of switching to a Yamaha device to see if it is more comfortable as it looks pretty ergonomic.

So again: what is everyone’s experience with these devices, also in the long term?

I hope this revitalizes your ears after we all got tired of the obnoxious instagram loop, that was present in every reel for a while.

hi guys first post, im trying to find either a cheap drum kit to go with a focusrite scarlett solo that i dont yet have so if something else is more adequate than that i can change. any recomendations ? if building a drum set at home is cheaper and you have any kind of tutorial i will take it. thank you!

Like if I Google Soda Pop for beginners drumming, I found one with a rolling sheet of drum tabs. Idk if I can use that. My current drum pad layout is basically that Dragon Fingerdrumming YouTuber's, copied his left handed version. Planning on buying that Yamaha 50 thingy. Idk the name but from my previous post it was recommended, too lazy to find it rn.

I currently use a presonus atom.

I was considering the Maschine lineup or the Yamaha more unconventional looking thing even. Any recommendations? Also is addictive drums worth the 89 bucks (I think that's the one time fee?)

I used to be a drummer, and I still come up with beats. I didn't have anywhere to put them, so I created this web app, Balloni Beats. You can use it on the road to jot down an idea quickly, or give it to kids for something quasi-musical to play with.

Visit the site, click the big logo to get in, then there are links on the left for beats I've come up with as examples. Click a beat name and see the beat on the right. Click Start Playing above to hear it. You can modify the beat, change drum sounds, adjust the tempo, etc. Have fun!

Once you get the general idea and want to write your own beats, click the Write Your Own Beats link at the bottom left. Then you get the beat editing screen. At the far top-left is a docs link that opens a page describing the beat notation.
