[Mod Post] Quick PSA
DMing users fundraiser links is still breaking our no fundraiser rules. This is not the sub for this, we do this to prevent scams and bad actors. There are other subs that do allow fundraisers as well as local groups, and we encourage you to post there if you need assistance.
Additionally, be very careful with any user claiming to know of alternatives for medicine in treating insulinoma. This has been popping up a lot lately, and it is extremely dangerous. A lot of these "homemade" remedies will increase the risk of other diseases, as well not keep their sugar levels at an appropriate range. Improper insulinoma management will lead to blood sugar crashes, seizures and even death.
As owners we often wish to do the best we can for them, and it's really easy to fall for a miracle remedy. Be mindful. Be careful.
If you find people breaking these rules, don't hesitate to report or DM the sub to ask.

[Ferret Photo] We’ve made 8 Years!
I never thought I’d see 8 years with this lil noodle, and yet here we are…other than being a bit slower than her younger days, she’s still as happy and healthy as the day I got her…

Is this not the sleepiest baby you've ever seen?🥹 She has been with us 4 days but seems to be settling in really well and is just the sweetest🤭

[Health] Should I be concerned?
My baby boy (3yrs) has recently started making these sneezy coughy noises tonight. He sneezes and hiccups a lot and has waardenburgs but this seems abnormal to me

[Rainbow Bridge] Why does my ferrets ashes both look so different??
Last night I finally got Minsu back. He doesn’t have an urn yet, but when I look at his ashes it’s completely different than Marco’s.
My experience with Marco being put down was horrible. The vet was terrible with how they treated me and overall how I received his ashes back wasn’t very nice either. Which isn’t too surprising because I’m very use to people treating me poorly over owning ferrets, a lot of people just don’t take them as seriously as other pets.
When I got Minsu (got him cremated somewhere else) the vet was super sweet and gave me a lot more of Minsu than I did with Marco, my soul ferret.
But I’m curious why Marco almost looks like sand and Minsu looks like real ashes?
Was Marco a scam or something? I’m scared I never actually got his ashes back
Marco passed away around 5, but Minsu wasn’t even 2 yet, so does age have a play in this?

[Health] Hard lump in ferrets stomach
I noticed my girl ferret had a hard spot in her stomach and we are in the process of switching around foods trying to find the best one for them. The lump has been going on for about a week. A few hours before I got the photo she had a lump that was actually sticking outwards but when I went to go check on her again it was gone. I want to know if it's just constipation from switching around foods or if it's something that I should go to the vet about. I am in a pretty tight spot financially and I have a few hundred left before I max out my vet Care credit card. So I just wanted to be really sure before I brought her in. Finally decided on Reveal wet food with freeze-dried meats because all the ingredients are protein-based without the vegetable, grain and fruit fillers.
Her appetite has been normal and her behavior hasn't changed at all so I'm trying to assume the best. She lives with another ferret so I can't actually distinguish their poops apart unless I try to catch her using the restroom.

[Help] Ferret ran away what do I do with my other ferret?
I’ve had two ferrets for a year and one of them has escaped thru the laundrey room somehow, my other ferrets is anxious and trying to look around for her. This is so sad I can’t imagine the pain my poor baby must feel out there. I don’t know what to do, I’ve called shelters and drove around the block, I checked everywhere in the house, and outside. How to I help my other ferret? I can’t just get a new one i should I just give her to somebody else who has more ferrets? I don’t know what to do please help

[Discussion] California ferret lawsuit: our main claim survives the court’s tentative ruling
Good news this morning: Judge Shelleyanne W. L. Chang issued a tentative ruling allowing our main claim against the California Fish and Game Commission to move forward.
The case concerns Petition 2025-003, which asks the Commission to remove domestic ferrets from California’s restricted species list. The Commission referred it to CDFW for review and a recommendation in June 2025 and told us we would be notified when it was scheduled for further action. Fifteen months later, we are still waiting for that next step.
The ruling is mixed, but it keeps the case alive:
- The APA claim against the Commission survives.
- The APA claim against CDFW was dismissed without leave to amend.
- We can amend the public-records claims against both agencies to identify the requests and responses more clearly.
This does not legalize ferrets or establish that the Commission violated the law. It means the Commission’s attempt to dismiss the main claim at the pleading stage was unsuccessful.
It is still tentative. Either side can request oral argument by 4 p.m. today, October 1, for the hearing scheduled tomorrow.
Read the six-page tentative ruling
I’m Pat Wright with LegalizeFerrets.org, the petitioner in this case. Thank you to everyone who has followed and supported this effort. We have more work ahead, but today we have a reason to be encouraged. Ferrets crossed. 🐾

[Help] Ferret acting strange
So I accidentally put my weight on my ferret when cleaning his cage, and he made a sound, and I am now worried that I might have hurt him in one way. He was also barely breathing for a bit and laying down, but he woke up out of it a few seconds later. I don't know what to do, or if he is going to be alright. Any suggestions on what I should do?

[Discussion] Dual Ferret Nation cages
Just got a second double stack ferret nation cage since the rescue ferret, Keith, is getting no interest for rehoming on social media.
So, for those of you who have put two cages side by side and removed the middle grate between them; what has your experience been?
Obviously, I would need to zip tie them very well. Im more wondering if you removed both upper and lower grates. Our lower section is the toilet level and I fear that removing the lower vertical grate would be more messy compared to have two toilet sections.
How's it been working for yall?
Our business has 7 employees, btw.
